Well that was exactly my point in my reply you have the same game but with different publishers due to international name differences for the publishers. The database is US based so the publisher for that game should be the one from the US box, so Sega of America, Inc in that case. The "Sega Sports" is just a brand slapped onto Segas sports games at that time, its not a publisher just a label to slap on sports games, like Sega also have the Sega Ages branding on remakes and re-issues over the years. "Sega Sports was a brand used by Sega to market sports video games during most of the 1990s and the early 2000s. First appearing in 1993[1], Sega used the Sega Sports name for about ten years, following in the footsteps of Electronic Arts' EA Sports label (or Electronic Arts Sports Network as it was originally known)." -

The publisher should be whatever is on the box for that game. If they use Rising Star on one game but Rising Star Games on another then so be it. Also the name difference could also be for international releases where the company name is trademarked slightly differently, or is under a parent company with a inc in the name for example. Again whatever is on the specific game box is what should be used. Also i havent looked it up, but who's to say that Rising Star and Rising Star games are the same company? They may be in this case, i dont know, but that doesnt mean that will always be the case, the reason for the slight difference could be because it is not the same company. -
First things first, NEVER unzip mame roms, mame expects them to be zipped and they wont work in any other format. Secondly what are you trying to add? you say you have a full romset imported now so what are you trying to import that the Launchbox fullset importer didnt? If the game was in your romset then Launchbox didnt import it for a reason, probably because it doesnt actually run in mame as of yet, or it could be that the game is already imported but under a different name based on the preferred region you specified in the importer. Also its worth noting that if you just downloaded this one random game from the internet that, thats not a good idea either, it probably for a different romset, and may be from a split/merged set type so missing important files.

It just needs to be active when you download. Its automatic, it will list your platforms and you can check/uncheck each platform separately and Launchbox will name them correctly and place them in the correct folders. You will also have more of a selection there if you have a active premium emumovies subscription. The specific ones you show in your image are the emumovies unified 16:9 set as seen below.
-
If you are using the gamepass app you can now create desktop shortcuts from within the app be right clicking a game. Apart from that its the same process, you can thank Microsoft for the added complexity there.
-
You need a premium subscription to emumovies for that specific video style. However we do have several styles available in the built in video downloader. Tools/Download Platform/Playlist videos.
-
Yes, i did mention it in the discord, my controller button just refreshes the view, it doesnt change to the next one.
-
If you delete it the cache will be automatically rebuilt. The more platforms and games you look at the bigger the folder will get. You will notice performance problems while the cache is being built also.
-
Gameplay videos require a emumovies premium subscription to scrape in Launchbox. Launchbox itself does not supply any gameplay videos.
-
Also are you running Launchbox as admin? That will break drag and drop if so.
-
Just checked here, it works just fine for games, but not for the Platforms if you right click and edit a platform. Were you trying to add game or platform images?

Graphical Rendering Issues in Launchbox & Big Box
neil9000 replied to Neosekken's topic in Troubleshooting
This is related to poorly coded audio drivers, you can find more info in the below thread. -
See below in my Genesis GX config folder i have overrides for both standard Genesis GX as well as a Game Gear one. This is because i use a handheld shader with built in bezel for that system, so i set that shader and saved a "content Directory" override. Now whenever i launch a game that is in my Game Gear rom folder that override is automatically loaded.
-
Not true, you can change that and save a "content directory" override. That specific override will then only apply when a game is launched from that specific folder, So as long as your roms are organised and each system has its own rom folder this is all you need to do.

Games don't open when trying to use MAME in Launchbox
neil9000 replied to Kimbo Rice's topic in Games
You dont really set them up in MAME, you just tell MAME the path to your full romset once you have downloaded one, then use the fullset importer in Launchbox. -
It can absolutely be a GPU or cable issue. If the actual device outputting the signal, be it a motherboard when using onboard graphics, or a dedicated GPU only has a HDMI 1,4 output port, you will be limited to 4K30. This is a hardware limit and not something you can just apply in the GPU control panel. As you can see in the below spec page from hdmi.org HDMI 1.4 can only support 3840x2160 at 24, 25 and 30hz. So if the user has a older GPU, which can be quite common in the emulation community as current high end GPU's are not required for most emulation then they simply may be hardware restricted. https://www.hdmi.org/spec/hdmi1_4b

Games don't open when trying to use MAME in Launchbox
neil9000 replied to Kimbo Rice's topic in Games
Launchbox does not provide roms, that is illegal. You need to supply your own. -
Check in your GPU's control panel that the refresh rate is set to 60, Windows often sets PC's to 30 when first connecting a 4K display. There could also be other issues, like does your GPU/or integrated GPU motherboard HDMI port actually support 4K as if the physical HDMI port on your PC doesnt support it there is nothing you can do about that short of getting a new motherboard/GPU, and do you have a good quality HDMI cable, as old cheap ones will lack the bandwidth for full 4K60.

That should still work just fine as far as i know, our database hasnt gone anywhere.
-
There is no patreon and it was a paid app anyway, the issues and why development was halted is more to do with Android itself, as detailed by Jason in the original post of this thread.
-
If you had already purchased the android version you can download it still, and it had a importer built in to the app before development was stopped. So you can still use it without the feature to export being in the desktop app still.

DLC or "Downloadable Content" is by its very definition not a game release. DLC is additional content added to a already released game. So in your example those games are released and are in fact not DLC at all in any way, as they are full games downloads and not additional content for a already released game. The changes should be rejected. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Downloadable_content

You are The timing for startup videos in Bigbox was removed a long time ago. It will now play to the end of the video, or until you press any button/key to skip it.
-
You can use that limited romset, but you would need to delete your current platform and import them again just using the standard rom import wizard and not the MAME fullset one. You would also need to change your emulator, you would need to download a version of MAME from 2003 (these are available on their website as well under the older releases page) or use the mame 2003 core in Retroarch (which is probably what is used when running those games on a Pi).
-
Please do not link to copywrited materials like roms or bios files on these forums, thank you. That pack in your link is not a actual mame romset. It's a limited selection of games from the 2003 romset (thats actually from the year 2003) they are that old as they are for running on a raspberry pi that can not run current versions of MAME. The pack you downloaded was 1.93GB correct? A correct MAME romset would be at least 60GB in size. So i assume what has happened here is you used the MAME fullset import wizard in Launchbox for not a fullset. So you have all the games that work showing in Launchbox, but you dont have the actual files for those games. The Launchbox fullset importer goes off of the actual MAME data as to what games work, it doesnt actually scan your files, hence Launchbox showing games you dont have and cant launch.
