LaunchBox Game Info Utility
Vlansix replied to elliot763's topic in Third-Party Applications and Plugins (Released)
Hi guys, I'll be working on the games database issues for the next little while, which means I won't be looking into this right now. I've not looked into whether or not something like this is added to the LB issue tracker, but if it isn't, add it :). It's actually not a bad idea to have a "Have/Miss" list for LB's metadata. @billyc999 - it would probably not be that hard to add an "Export Have/Miss list to -> CSV" and add a field-selection window open up afterwards. Seriously, add it to the issue tracker if it's not already there (and if it is, upvote it! ), I'm not saying we'll do it now, just that it's probably something worth looking into :). -
Hi Guys, You may have noticed that I've been going through the issue tracker for the LaunchBox Games Database. So, here's the lowdown on what's happening: 1) Hi! Name's Alex. I'll be helping out with development wherever Jason needs me for the next little while. 2) I'm currently looking into throwing some love at the Games Database. 3) I'm pretty quick at resolving or closing tickets. Sadly, I sometimes pull the trigger too quickly. Don't be afraid to reopen issues or to comment on them, i'll look into it. 4) I basically use the issue trackers as my to-do list. Keep adding everything and anything to it, I'll filter through it and see what we can fix/improve upon :). So, here's what some of the messages mean: - If you see a reply with "Fixes #issuenumber" and then some weird combination of numbers and letters at the bottom, it means I've submitted code to fix that specific issue. You won't see the fix until the physical server hosting the website is updated to match what is being held on the bitbucket repository, although we're very good at doing that pretty quickly :). So, if I'm resolving your issue, and it's still happening, try again tomorrow :). It's probably going to be fixed. (If it's not, I messed up. Let me know.) - If I'm closing something as "Invalid", it means that it's either posted in the wrong issue tracker, or it's not actually a bug/feature request. Sadly, due to the large number of issues submitted, and the low number of people looking at them, I won't be in a position to crosspost them to the appropriate tracker. Before being offended, make sure to read the comments posted. Seriously. My main goal is to make everyone happy and everything awesome, so don't think that I'm trying to ignore you :). - If your issue is marked as "On Hold", it doesn't mean that I'm sweeping it under the carpet, it means that I'm not working on it right now. Not because it's not important, or not a good idea, simply because something else is on fire and/or melting somewhere else :). I've seen the issue, I've probably commented on it (I hope. If not, I apologize. Let me know! ), and I will get to it :). - If your issue is marked as duplicate, even though it seems different than the issue i'm relating it to, it's because it's actually a duplicate or a deeper bug. Don't worry. - I'm excessively bad at estimating the time required to do things. But I mean well. So, if I tell you that i'll get something done today, I sincerely mean to get it done today. Sadly, chances are that a pack of radioactive mongoose will select that day to overtake the local government and try to press me into some form of man-mongoose militia. I apologize in advance, but the good news is that it should be done shortly :). So, that's that :). Currently, I'm getting alternate names up and working, next is some random bugs that are causing crashes, and then i'll see what I can do to resolve some of the stuff that's currently on hold. Feel free to give me a shout whenever, i'm pretty much always online (either at vlansix@gmail.com or through the patreon discord server) So, thanks for taking the time to read, you guys are awesome (Seriously. This place is scary. Everyone is so nice o.O), and let's fix this database :).

@Maddoc1007 Thanks for the feedback :). Always good to hear that things are working as intended, and nothing's caught fire yet :D. -
Hiya @Jakatsu, I've noticed a lot of error reports in relation to this. I'll be looking into it as soon as I'm done with the alternate title stuff. Keep an eye on Issue 144 for updates :).

Good to hear :).

@Evil_Orko - Just in case, a beta version is available on the third party tools forum. -
Hiya guys, Just going around tying up loose ends. This should be resolved, the game deletion bug should be gone. Let me know if anything's not as it should be in relation to that :).

@Maddoc1007, Aye, i will once i've finished fixing these issues :). I don't like putting things "out there" when they have some problems. Kind of annoys me -

Rightyo, although it shouldn't matter when it opens... should still close even if it opens after. I'll look into it -
Hikaru Fullscreen Addon

@Maddoc1007 - Wait, is it not closing after maximizing the window? This app shouldn't actually stay open at all after having done that. Or would you want it to make hikaru not be fullscreen once you hit the escape key? -
tutorial Full-screen pdf/manual with SumatraPDF
Vlansix replied to fasm's topic in Third-Party Applications and Plugins (Released)
@Charco - we've already discussed that, and it,s a bit too dangerous to do that. There is the possibility that the cursor doesn't get shown again after being hidden, and... well, that would be very bad for launchbox :). Might also get flagged by AV programs as... well, nothing is supposed to change the global cursor like that. @spektor56 - It's probably something on Jason's to-do list already, but if it's not, add it to BitBucket :). I'll just make something that patches the problem with duct tape and love for now ;).- 24 replies

Cool. I'll need a few days as I've got a few things on the go right now, but i'll put some shine on the prototype and put it up. What I'm thinking is - Left thumbstick = scroll / pan, right thumbstick = zoom in/out, and then configurable exit key.- 24 replies

Hikaru Fullscreen Addon

@DOS76 - This should also work for the Gaelco games, or any type of game that is executed from Demul. @Maddoc1007 - Thanks for the feedback :). Much appreciated. I'll make a separate "Hikaru Exit Key Mapper" in a little bit. -

Cool. Thanks for the okay :). I'll see what I can do as... well, this utility would be excessively handy to have -

I'mma try to fiddle with that and see if I can't fix some of the scanning/jpeg artifacts. You've already done most of the work, so it should make my life a lot easier

LBCC - Open-Source cursor hiding thing.
Vlansix replied to Vlansix's topic in Third-Party Applications and Plugins (Released)
@Maddoc1007 - Here's the program you requested, in part: Now, it launches hikaru games in fullscreen automatically. (it's not an emulator, it just passes keystrokes to the hikaru window), i'd need to know more about your setup to make something that works for you in relation to exiting the application. (i.e., what do you want to do to exit the application? Hit a specific key? A keyboard combination? A button on your arcade cab? etc) -
Hi all, Quick little program that corrects for the inability to launch Demul's Hikaru games in fullscreen. Simply add it as an additional application that loads before or after your hikaru game and it will make it go fullscreen on load. HikaruFullscreen.exe HikaruFullscreen Source.zip

@alondero, i'm not part of the launchbox team, but i'm looking into making that possible through an external database of change requests / IRC chat client and a browser extension that would allow us to get notes sent by users/etc while moderating. It's not perfect and may not work for all circumstances, but it should tide us over until this gets resolved :).
-
Heya @glaymore, Just to clear up any confusion (in case there is any), moderators are... well, normal users, like you and i :). Once you've had enough submissions accepted into the database, you are then able to moderate changes (look at my account -> moderation), We're not called out in the forums in any way. The people with the red "Moderator" under their names are forum moderators (and could also be DB moderator) ;). As for explanations / etc, i'm currently working on an extension that allows us to do that. Might take a bit to get it up and working, but it should tide us over until the games db gets a revamp.

tutorial Full-screen pdf/manual with SumatraPDF
Vlansix replied to fasm's topic in Third-Party Applications and Plugins (Released)
I saw this a few days ago and figured I'd see if I can't find us a better solution. I hacked up a quick prototype pdf reader, specifically for big box, that opens full screen automatically, has no menus whatsoever, accepts controller and keyboard input and has a configurable escape key/controller sequence. Lemme know if there's any interest, i'll put a bit of shine on it and upload it. @fasm, i'll delete this and post a new thread if you prefer :). Don't want to hijack your thread.- 24 replies
