Ok, I tested and it is not working for me either. We are checking with Jason to see if some of the changes to BigBox theming could have affected this. Edit: I able was able to get it to work as it should. not sure why the first time it did not work. But I deleted the images and copied in a new set of images and it worked fine.

Neon Deluxe Arcade - Launchbox Theme
Retro808 replied to Mr. RetroLust's topic in LaunchBox for Windows Custom Themes
1. The file name should not be jpg.01 it should be -01.jpg. So it would look like Background-01.jpg 2. In Launchbox go to Tolls>Options> then Under Images look for Default Background and make sure you do no have the background fade slid all the way up. -
Refresh the image cache in the BigBox settings.

@circo to the rescue! Thanks for such a quick fix.

LOL and I just now starting posting in the discord. I got up way too early this Saturday.

Wow. Definitely something up. Just tested one of the games from your screenshot and it brings the DS box from emumovies. Just checked their FTP and I see the zips for box images. Downloaded the 3D box files and they are all there. Something is not linking correctly.
-
Pretty weird. I only use LB DB and Emumovies. I know I have not set-up GBA in a while so wonder is maybe images got removed from Emumovies. I did run a test on King of Fighters EX and it pulled images from both LB and Emumovies.
-
Looks good on my end. I have 151 games loaded all have 2D and 3D box art and all have at least 2 screen images.
-
Should be plenty. Just looked and all my GBA games have 2D and 3D box art as well as anywhere from 2-5 screenshots of various types. Should be able to get them unless you have some funky named roms and Launchbox or Emumovies if you use it cannot match the rom name to a game.
-
Just tested a download and no issue accessing Emumovies.

/Launchbox/Images/Platforms/(Platform Name)/Clear Logo Then go into BigBox settings and look for options/Image Cahe then choose refresh all images. Anytime you add new images you have to also refresh the cache.

GridBlocked Startup Theme View File Decided to mess around some more looking at code and learning more. So I set out to look at adding gif, linking metadata, and linking images to metadata since I do not use the details screen in BigBox. So here is what I put in another little theme. Once again, I am not a coder so if anyone peaks at the xml file and sees some fixes or a better way please let me know. I am all ears. Or if you have ideas on how to make the theme look nicer fire away. Icons used in the theme came from BigBox themes by @CriticalCid and @Mr. Retrolust so big thanks to them. (Slightly modified from their original versions.) I claim no credit to any artwork displayed or included in the theme. IMPORTANT: Launchbox 9.3 or higher required for Startup Themes. Version 1.0 Theme will show fanart background blurred 20%, Metadata text contained in a view box, and 3 metadata logos (Favorite, Your Personal Star Rating, and ESRB), along with large 3D Box and Cart/Disc. Startup theme view for non CD based games will show the cartridge image slide in from the right. Startup theme for CD based games will show the CS slide in from the right and spin. Shutdown view will show the fanart background blurred with blinking "Game Over" text. Installation: Download the GridBlocked.zip and unzip it into the Launchbox/StartupThemes folder. Install the supplied fonts. (Working on figuring out how to have it so the fonts do not need to be loaded. So once I can do that I will update the theme) In Launchbox go to Tools>Options>Game Startup and choose the appropriate named theme. In Launchbox make sure for Cart Front Image Priorities you have "Disc" checked and listed as top item. If you need to add other disc based systems to the startup theme simply copy any cd based xml file in the theme's folder and paste into the same folder then rename the file exactly as your platform name appears in Launchbox. What theme are you using? With the new version on Launchbox theming was updated and many themes needed to be patched to work with the changes. You may need to see if the theme creator released a recent update and install the newest version.

Sega Genesis not being listed under Consoles, possible bug?
Retro808 replied to sam19's topic in Troubleshooting
In Launchbox right click your Genesis platform name and choose edit. Go to the parents tab and make sure you have it checked to show under consoles. -
Edit the emulator in Launchbox and make sure you are pointing to the actual Mame.exe and not the zip file from when you downloaded Mame.

cannot get startup videos to work with bigbox please help!!
Retro808 replied to rjlmecp's topic in Big Box Startup Videos
How did you do it? There is actually an old way which changed several versions ago and is no longer valid. if you placed a video in the /Launchbox/Video folder and named the video file startup then that is no longer valid. Now you simply create a folder called startup inside the /Launchbox/Videos folder and place any videos you want in there and they can be any name. Example: /Launchbox/Videos/Startup/[VideoFile].mp4 You can use any length video and multiple videos as BigBox will randomly use on on startup. -
BigBox you can lock so users cannot back out to the settings and alter them. That is the only current lock feature.

Set the exit hook directly in Retroarch. It is pretty easy. Open RA and in the menu go to the Gears Icon menu and scroll down to Input. In the input menu select Input Hot Key Binds. In this menu set a control/key for "Enable Hot Key" (this would be the control/key you press and hold to activate the control/key you chose for Exit) then set a control/key for "Quit".

Could be a few things. 1. Make sure Mame can launch the games outside of Launchbox. If it does not confirm in Mame you have it pointing to the directory you have your roms in. 2. If it does, go to Launchbox and edit the emulator set-up for Mame. Make sure in the associated platforms tab you have the name of the Arcade platform for your games exactly as you have it listed in Launchbox. 3. If you are using a Mame offshoot like MameUI or Arcade64 make sure the mame.ini file is located in the root folder of mame where the mame.exe is located.
