Are you talking about downloading media through LB or manually adding images yourself? This has not been a problem to date. There are plenty of games in my LB set-up named with ":" in the title and LB imported it fine. Of course the rom file imported does not have the ":". If you are manually adding the image file you need to replace the ":" with and underscore "_". For example the game below would have an image named 1943_The Battle of Midway.png or you could even name the image after the exact rom name and LB would still see it. Example for NES. rom title: 1943 - The Battle of Midway (USA).zip LB title: 1943: The Battle of Midway

Because that game like gtfore06 and gtfore05 are CHD only games and do not technically require a zip rom. Why the non-merged has it I am not sure. But again, it really is not needed. To run the game you simply need the CHD and the Lindbios.zip (which is already in the full rom set). You are over thinking this and making Mame harder that it needs to be. Download any set you want from PleasureDome and get the CHD set if you want (or just download the CHD for the games that actually work as most CHD are non working).
-
What we really need to know is do the games run fine directly in Dolphin without using LB? If yes, then your issue is not the emulator or the rom. It is a setting in LB.
-
If you are downloading the Mame rom set the bios files set is not needed. Those are already contained in the full rom set.
-
The CHD file is not imported the zipped rom for the CHD is. For example the CHD folder named kinst is the arcade disk image for Killer Instinct. LB will import kinst.zip NOT the chd. LB simply sends a command line to Mame to run kinst.zip. Mame then uses the CHD data. The best thing to do is make sure the CHD folders are either located in the Mame rom folder or be sure you tell Mame where to find the CHD folders. Not sure what ETA guide or LB guide you are watching, but I am sure neither of them tell you LB will import the actual CHD file.

Because the NoNag has nothing to do with what you are seeing. It will not remove what you see. That is how the game boots.
-
Unsure in Xmen as I have not played it in a while, but I do know that is normal for Galaga. Why not compare on your end. Launch both games using a normal version of .241 Mame and then Launch both games using a version with the NoNag and see what happens.
-
Yeah that is normal. That's how to original arcade game boots up.
-
Not sure. Do not know what you mean by "strange video". Can you show us what you mean?
-
Not sure. I do not use the new stock generated AHK scripts for Mame since I use NoNag Mame builds. Try deleting them and seeing if it helps. I would copy those codes though so you can paste them back if it makes no difference.

What is the exact issue? The only thing you do with MadK9's no-nag is drop his Mame.exe file into the root folder where the original Mame.exe file is to override it. Nothing else needs to be done.

Bigbox Marquee on Wireless Secondary Display?
Retro808 replied to Prick Slickfield's topic in Troubleshooting
In BigBox make sure you have set your primary and secondary screens and I believe BB needs to see the monitor the same way Windows would recognize it. I am not sure if it will work through a 3rd party program like SpaceDesk. I could be wrong. -
They are not, which is why they each have their own setting page. The emulator specific setting will override anything you have set in the LB/BB global setting. That's not what I was thinking at all. The emulator setting is an override. As mentioned earlier, this setting overrides the global Startup setting in both LB and BB. Correct, I do not have this issue as I have individually adjusted Startup delays on any emulator that needed it. For Mame I only have it set for only 1.25 seconds as after trial an error this gives me the cleanest transition from the Startup theme to the game. You need to play with the setting to find the right delay. Also, the delay is how long LB/BB will keep the Startup theme on screen before transitioning to the game. So if your emulator is taking longer you need to increase the time not set it to "0". Keep in mind, from the onset of this feature it has been advised it may not be perfect in all scenarios.

LB does not download images upon launching nor does it rescan on next launch to search for new images. When you import your games you can either manually download and add images from sites or use the LB media downloader. After import you can always run the media downloader again to add new images.

Followed this exactly on a game for the 1997 - TG16 platform I had pics of earlier. After deleting meta and re-downloading it changed it to “NEC- Turbo Grafx 16”. So I then changed that to “1997 - Turbo Grafx 16” and ran media downloader. Again, no issues with EmuMovies finding it. My only thoughts are either your Sony PS platform you provided pics on does not have the correct “Scrape As” name listed, I know your Dreamcast does since you gave pics, or perhaps it is an issue with the translation build LB you are using.
-
You said it does this when you download the metadata for the game. What exact steps do you take to do this? Want to replicate exactly what you do to test it.
-
Can you edit the platform like I mentioned and post a pic of what you have in the Details tab. In LB Right click a platform name and edit.
-
Worked perfectly fine here. Even tested importing games without media, then editing a single game and downloading media.
-
Are you talking about mapping those controllers for actually playing in game? LB and BB have nothing to do with in game functions. Those controls need to be mapped in each specific emulator you use.
-
Put what? The new no nag exe replaces to original one in the root folder.

Easiest way to change the type of wheel for a noob?
Retro808 replied to upjumptheboogie's topic in Big Box Custom Themes
If you created a "wheel" view in the Community Theme Creator it will automatically show clear logos as long as you have them downloaded. The thing to understand if BB has an actual "Text" view that is specifically designed to show games and platforms in font text. This is completely different then when in a "wheel" view someone is missing clear logos and BB shows a .png image of a text. You can tell the TextListView as it will look like clean text spaced closer together. If your list is showing all font text you need to change views. This is done best by mapping a button/key to the option for "View" and then when in the list of games hit that button/key to see real time change of view. -
You have to create it. You can do so buy command line or by simply running the mame.exe without a game. Click on "Configure. Options" then click "Save Configuration". Once you exit Mame the ini will be in your Mame root folder.
-
You can set a custom delay per emulator in LB. In >Tools >Manage >Emulators select Mame and edit. Then in the "Startup" tab adjust the startup delay there. This will affect only Mame.
-
In LB in the left pane where your platform names are right click on a platform name and edit it. If your "Scrape as" is set to the common platform name it will search EmuMovies just fine. That is the point of the "Scrape as" field. This is what allows a user to name a platform any custom name, but scrape the correct platform name.
-
You have always been able to name a platform anything you want. To ensure it scrapes correctly all you need to do is make sure the “Scape as” field is the right platform name. This is not something that has changed in any recent versions.
