Configuration file along with each theme. It's possible?
Retro808 replied to soqueroeu's topic in Big Box Custom Themes
Over the years I have seen our users are more likely to prefer their own settings over a theme designer’s artistic choices. Which is why I feel we have not seen theme specific config files asked about much. We have definitely had users ask how to get the exact look, but overwhelmingly it is the opposite. I definitely would not want a theme to override how I set my builds up. That is one of the main things about LB I enjoy. The ability to switch to different themes without it altering my settings. -
Configuration file along with each theme. It's possible?
Retro808 replied to soqueroeu's topic in Big Box Custom Themes
No. One reason is because a user's Image/Video priorities within the LB options can override the image type a theme creator may have designed the look for. -
It would be the same as adding the other tables you already have in your Pinball Fx platform.

Extremely slow EmuMovies downloads through LaunchBox
Retro808 replied to CADScott's topic in Troubleshooting
Is there a difference when you import a single game for the first time and have it download media from EmuMovies? Can you test that and report if you experience the same slow download speeds from EmuMovies? -
Extremely slow EmuMovies downloads through LaunchBox
Retro808 replied to CADScott's topic in Troubleshooting
Can you elaborate on the issue? Is this with single game media downloads or multiple? Have you seen a difference depending on the number games you are scraping? The team has looked at this. In fact in 12.2 release this was specifically addressed. We have had multiple users report speeds have increased for them. Version 12.2 - Released November 8, 2021 Improvement: EmuMovies downloads now use the same multi-threaded downloader that the LaunchBox Games Database uses, which should result in faster download speeds; also thanks to Circo for additional improved speeds -
Worth taking a look in your task manager. In the services tab see if you have Nahimic services running. If so terminate it. That has been known to cause graphical issues.

If you are trying to edit it while LB is open it will not work. LB has to be closed. You could just reimport the roms and when you get to the media portion of the import wizard uncheck all the options for the media. LB will attach the existing metadata / media to the import.

The 2 menu option like that would require a plug-in. There is a theme (Eclipse) developed by a forum member who was able to accomplish it, but it is not something readily available in LB/BB current coding.

In BigBox setting you need to set your view to "Platform Categories". In "Views" you can set your startup view to be "Platform Categories" this will get you the view you want and that is how it will be each time you open BB. If you only want it that way for the one session then in the first settings page in BB simply scroll down and select "View Platform Categories".

Now set the priority. The order they are in sets what shows first and so on. Notice the “Move Up” and “Move Down” buttons. Use those to sort which video type is show first, second, and so on.

Open LB and go to Tools >Options you can set the video priority there.

You would need to email support@unbrokensoftware.com and make the request with our team.

Custom Control Panel Art Files for Platforms and Games
Retro808 replied to SrfrBoyBobby's topic in Platform Media
You can make the unused buttons a grey color, but clearly a user looking at the image will know the others are not used since you have no labels for them. Just input from a visual perspective. Either have the image look balanced or leave a lot of negative space. Just do not overthink it. A quick edit adding a mild drop shadow and shifting controls right a bit and made the unused buttons more gray. It honestly works either way, for me though that huge negative space without them would bug me. Yours is the 3rd one so you can see the alignment difference. Same, but having worked in Risk Management for over 25 years my brain is hard wired to think of "what can go wrong" and put in things to work to cover if/when it does go wrong. In the middle of hanging out with friends or a big party I am not taking time to fix any leds or have LEDBLinky fail and bother trying to fix it. LOL. -
Are you using Retroarch for all those mentioned systems? How do the games run directly in the emulator without using LB to launch them?

Custom Control Panel Art Files for Platforms and Games
Retro808 replied to SrfrBoyBobby's topic in Platform Media
Yeah, it definitely is person-to-person, but if your set-up can be effective for all than that just makes your set-up even that much sweeter. The new image looks good. The controller alignment could be adjusted right a little more, but of course you would need to see how it looks with a control scheme that might have longer text on those 2 buttons on the end towards the game art. Maybe add a drop shadow or an outer glow to the clear logo. -
Custom Control Panel Art Files for Platforms and Games

This was just speaking out of experience. I have built many cabinets for friends, family, and even put a few at my work place. The lit buttons do help, but what if the leds stop. Or you decide to use this for another cabinet without led buttons? Have seen many users on a simple 2 or 3 button game try using the bottom row first. May not be as common an issue, but if you can mitigate confusion by being clear with your images, then why not do it. -
Custom Control Panel Art Files for Platforms and Games

Nice improvement. The controller image is a lot cleaner. A couple recommendations on that. 1. If using a 6 button control deck the user would not know which 3 buttons. Top 3 or bottom 3. Also since only 3 are showing and your image is aligned to make space for the other buttons the spacing looks off. To compensate I would recommend leaving all 6 buttons in view but grey out the others not being used. -

What is the ultimate goal of what you are trying to do? If it is to ensure players can understand the controls for the game while adding some visual excitement I think you should reduce the overall time of the video and increase how long/often the controls image shows up. That is a 3:45 video and the controls only showed up at 1:45 and stayed up for :15. -
Adding to what @neil9000 said. I was actually attempting to edit the theme to do just this and could not get it to work. Talked with CBeat and LB currently cannot support showing a platform background until a game is selected. He did advise we would need a plug-in to do this. Hopefully some time down the line he said he might get some time to look at building something into the LB code. For now the best you can do is change to a more custom image you want to use.

It's not dead requests are just done by the "Feature Request" option located at the top of the forum under "Help & Support". There is however, already a request on the site that links to for this. I will say this is likely something not going to happen anytime soon, if at all (really do not want to say never as there is always a small chance, but it does look very slim) per a recent discussion on our moderator discord with our devs.

Yes, you are not in the correct theme. You need to change the LB Theme. >Tools >Options >Main Window Theme and select the correct theme.
