Thank you for the comment and your recommendation to read the post with the frequently asked questions. As I mentioned to a colleague in a previous message, the problem with Launchbox/Bigbox only has one solution and it is not simple. I quote verbatim the answer to the second question that you indicated to me in your message: "full rewrite might be necessary to fully resolve these limitations" Greetings.

Unfortunately the performance problem is also still present in this beta, so we have not said anything that is not true. Unfortunately for us, it will also continue in the next beta, and in the next of the next, and in the next of the next of the next... If moderators feel this message is inappropriate, they may delete it. They can also respond to our requests and at least let us know that they will try to solve this problem in the future. This would be something very positive for us.

Totally agree with your message. Launchbox and BigBox take away your desire to enjoy your game collection with infinite slowdowns. All the systems you mentioned in your message allow you to navigate your collection fluidly, something I have NEVER been able to have in BigBox. The worst thing of all is that I find it difficult to solve this problem unless the programming base is changed completely. The different themes created for BigBox are impossible to optimize and it doesn't matter if you have a state-of-the-art computer, as soon as an image or video appears you will have slowdowns. The Launchbox/Bigbox team should definitely focus on fixing these performance issues before adding features that are in most cases useless. We want to explore our game collection fluidly just like the rest of the frontends on the market. This problem and the denial of wanting Launchbox to be international, preventing those of us who do not speak English from having ALL the frontend content in other languages, means that this is not the best frontend today, and it is a real shame.

Thanks. Is it not possible to translate the Discovery Center texts? It would also be nice to be able to change the time format in Discovery Center to 24h format. In Europe we don't like the PM/AM format

Can't download latest translation files from first post page.

How to insert Playstation 2 core on Launchbox through Retroarch
Daliant replied to NENECA_FGC's topic in Features
The name of core is PCSX2 not LRPS2. Search for it. -
"Would you like to move or copy the files" not showing anymore
Daliant replied to DeadVoivod's topic in Troubleshooting
This wizard screen doesn't make any sense to me. If I want to have my roms in the Launchbox games folder I copy them directly there before importing them. I think that no user wants to have their roms duplicated in several folders and everyone puts the roms in the game folder on their computer that they like the most. I understand that this can be useful when you want to import roms from a USB device, but I still always prefer to put the roms in the folder that I decide, not in the Launchbox games folder. This problem of this screen disappearing in the latest stable version of Launchbox has also happened to me and I have been grateful for it, honestly. I thought it was an improvement, but now I see that it is a simple mistake. -
I know a guy who works at NASA and he says that Launchbox doesn't work well on his work computer either... Joking aside, it is a reality that Launchbox has VERY SERIOUS performance problems. This has always been the case and always will be because there is no hope that it will ever change. The developers' closed thinking on these issues does not give much hope that something will radically change in this frontend. I have €50 Chinese portable consoles with more than 2000 roms installed that run faster than Launchbox on a latest generation PC... It's sad, but it's a reality. I have commented on it on several occasions in the forum, of course without hope that my complaints would reach the ears of the "bosses" of this project, Launbox is far from being a state-of-the-art, top-level frontend. Why do I still use Launchbox? Well, like the colleague who commented previously, I don't have the strength to start again from scratch to configure another frontend... but I don't rule out that in the future when I find something that is 50% similar to Launchbox and that its developers make Truly based on the needs of your community, I dare to take the leap into the future.

How are you supposed to force import the game to get it to appear in the list?
-
When you import a mame romset you must select which import options you want during the wizard. If your main region is Japan, the names that will be assigned to the roms will be those of the region selected as the main one. You should not be missing any roms from your roms folder in Launchbox, unless you have selected options such as downloading slot machines, or non-working roms. What can happen is that the rom is imported with a main name that does not correspond to the name of your region. In the case of Track & Field, the alternative name for this rom is Hyper Olympic, therefore if your main region is set to Japan, the rom will appear with the name Hyper Olympic and not as Track & Field. You can change the main name by editing the game properties in the corresponding section. If you notice that you are missing any other rom in your list, just try searching for it with its alternative name, you will see that it will appear in your list that way.

Try to find the game Hyper Olympic in your list. Maybe the game is added with alternative name.

Hello @C-Beats, thanks for your reply. Couldn't people who want to search the entire content (including notes) be given the ability to do so? In the same way that you can deactivate the advanced search, there should be the possibility of searching for a keyword in any field of the database. In this way everyone could use the search to their best convenience. What is the point of having an immense database with countless fields if we cannot later use them to filter, sort, clean, etc... our collections? If you can do this with a simple Excel, why use Launchbox then? On occasion I have said in these forums that my passion for video games goes far beyond playing them. I personally spend a lot more time going through my collection, looking at the manuals, learning the history of each game than I do playing the game itself. I know that there are many other people who, like me, appreciate Launchbox not for being a video game launcher, but for having all its arts and accessories in an organized way. There are plenty of frontends out there that are designed to just click a button and play without worrying about anything else. I think Launchbox is a step up in this regard and in its nature aims to be more than just a game launcher. These kinds of things are what I miss about the little-remembered GameEx. Tom Speirs was a genius at implementing this type of resources in databases and he did wonders with a program that was surely much inferior to Launchbox, but that made those of us who appreciated the exploration of our collections a dream. Some of these options have been implemented in Launchbox over time, such as the view of similar games or ports, but in my opinion (which is surely worthless) it is still far from what GameEx could do in this regard. The truth is, I still use Launchbox because I have not yet discovered another frontend that gives me everything I need in terms of exploring my collection. Most frontends focus on simply launching games. For now, it's time to continue dreaming about the definitive frontend. All the best.

I have several hundred magazines added to a playlist in Launchbox. They are magazines related to video games. I would very much like it if when using the search engine with the word "Sonic" in addition to all the installed versions of the game in my collection appearing, those magazines that talk about the game or that have some type of report would also appear. All the magazines in my collection have a summary of each of them added in the notes section. Can I have any hope that this will become a reality or is it extremely difficult and complex to make the current search engine not focus only on the game title and search in all available sections (company, publisher, year, notes)? The truth is that I cannot understand how today this frontend does not allow you to perform advanced searches, when other frontends with less community and less support do it perfectly. I don't think it's such a crazy idea that it isn't implemented today, honestly. I am convinced that many users have the same need as I do with their magazines and manuals.

Problem accessing retroachievements details from Bigbox
Daliant replied to Daliant's topic in Troubleshooting
No solution? -
Since the retroachievements option was activated again in Bigbox, it is impossible for me to access the details of the achievements since the cloudflare captcha appears and I cannot accept it in any way, since the mouse does not work within Bigbox. How can I accept the Retroachivements captcha from within Bigbox?

Some of us are also hoping for something as simple as making some game lists not appear in attraction mode. I have had to deactivate attraction mode so that games that I don't want to appear or lists of magazines that don't even have videos don't appear. I hope that one day you can choose the list of games you want to appear in this attraction mode.
