spycat
Hi folks. Prior to LaunchBox 5.2 in order to get WinKawaks to automatically open games you needed to use script files in emulator mode, or else use WinKawaks in application mode. With the latest version of LaunchBox, it's no longer necessary to create scripts to launch WinKawaks games. Image 1 shows the emulator settings for WinKawaks, and Image 2 is just a sample game setup. My paths are shown, but your's will be different.
Jason Carr
Boom! Thank you @scree. Didn't even realize that this latest change would fix WinKawaks. :)
DOS76
Nice now Model 2, Model 3, CPS, CPS2, CPS3 and Neo Geo launch with the click of a button. I was hoping it would do Crystal to but no go.
Jason Carr
Sweet. I really need to fill out the default emulator settings for all of those. Any idea what Crystal needs?
Maddoc1007
I use mame 0138b for the Crystal system as there are only 2 games playable and they work well in it

Oh. Well I'm trying to use WinKawaks with my NeoGeo games. If someone could please share the emulator settings for WinKawaks, I'd be very grateful. Lordmonkus
May I suggest you use something other than WinKawaks ?

Lordmonkus
Is your romset really old ? Can you update your romset or are you on some awful internet making that not an option ?

Lordmonkus
You don't need to use ClrMamePro at all, I sure as hell don't use it. This is what I will do though, if you don't have the internet capability to get an up to date NeoGeo romset I will download and figure out how to get WinKawaks working in Launchbox. But I do really recommend using Mame, Retroarch w/ FBA core or Final Burn Alpha itself which all use the same rom set. The emulation is much better. Zombeaver
Yeah I second moving away from WinKawaks. I used it many many years ago before there were myriad alternatives. Have you tried the FBA core of Retroarch? Beyond having better emulation accuracy, that gives you all the benefits that come with using Retroarch. I don't use ClrMamePro either. Lordmonkus
Well I can get WinKawaks to load a game by turning on "Don't use quotes" and "Use file name only" but it will not go into fullscreen mode. And if I put -fullscreen as the command-line parameter it breaks it and doesn't load the game.

rottendevice
I took the advice given here and tried Final Burn Advance (though not with RetroArch). It works great. Thank you.
Lordmonkus
My biggest gripe with the stand alone FBA is the controller setup, it's just very awkward and has to be done for every single game it seems unless I missed something in the controller setup. Lordmonkus
I'm sure you read through this thread but it bears repeating. Abanondon WinKawaks, it's an outdated and difficult to use emulator. You have much better options with Mame, FBA and Retroarch using the FBA core, the emulation quality of all 3 of these options is much better than WinKawaks.
