Lordmonkus Posted December 8, 2017 Author Posted December 8, 2017 Ok. Try copying your mame.ini file into the main Mame folder where the executable is located. Quote
EvilHomer777 Posted December 8, 2017 Posted December 8, 2017 (edited) Holy wacamole. That worked! O_O The file was originally located inside a folder called ini by default. Thanks! Edited December 8, 2017 by EvilHomer777 Quote
Lordmonkus Posted December 8, 2017 Author Posted December 8, 2017 Good to hear, there seems to be an issue with Mame where if the mame.ini file is located in the ini folder it doesn't read it when launched through Launchbox (maybe other frontends as well but I don't know). One of the first steps I have in my guide is with a new install of Mame is to generate a mame.ini file using the command line parameter -cc, this generates the mame.ini file right in the main folder. EvilHomer777 Posted December 8, 2017 Posted December 8, 2017 (edited) I did upgrade from Mame ver.172. Maybe back then the ini file was not inside a folder like it is now. Actually, scratch that. It was from ver. 162. Edited December 8, 2017 by EvilHomer777 Quote
Lordmonkus Posted December 8, 2017 Author Posted December 8, 2017 It could very well be that those older versions didn't mind the mame.ini being in the ini folder and launching Mame via command line through Launchbox. Quote
EvilHomer777 Posted December 8, 2017 Posted December 8, 2017 It looks like that was the case. Now, what's a quick way to transfer all the control config settings from each game, from the old version of Mame to the new one, without having to go into each game individually? Quote
Lordmonkus Posted December 8, 2017 Author Posted December 8, 2017 I would assume simply copying over the .cfg files to the cfg folder should be just fine, I can't say that for certain though since I have never done it myself. Quote
SagaXIV Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 Hi, i hope I'll be able to find an answer here. I currently have trouble importing MAME 0.192. Certain games that have been added in 191, for exemple Dragon Tresure 1 and 2, dont show up in the import list in Launchbox. Is there anything I can do for that, like manually changing a mame.dat to 192 somewhere? Or any orther solution? If needed, for futher information, im using Arcade64(formerly mamuifx), and got a merged set 192 w/ roms and CHDs. Thanks! Quote
Lordmonkus Posted December 14, 2017 Author Posted December 14, 2017 Merged rom sets are not recommended, non merged or split sets are. You could also try manually importing individual roms for specific games and forcing it to import duplicates. Quote

SagaXIV Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 I guess I'll try one last import, and see if anything goes. In other cases, I'll run some RomVault to make a split or non-merged. Thanks! Quote

Lordmonkus Posted December 14, 2017 Author Posted December 14, 2017 You should still be able to force import individual games though, I did that with Akai Katana. 1 Quote

SagaXIV Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 Boo, after reading a couple threads on mame import, I fully understand the issue and situation. I guess it's either manual game imports as suggested, or ... idk!? Quote
neil9000 Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 The majority of games will import just fine.. If you have a specific game just add it manually. Quote
Chris Kant Posted December 26, 2017 Posted December 26, 2017 Does anyone know if I can run the MAME Arcade64 Version in LaunchBox? I did not able to start any game yet :-( even through Rocketlauncher not Quote
Lordmonkus Posted December 26, 2017 Author Posted December 26, 2017 It should work, I seem to recall trying it at one point but I won't wear that I did. Look in your main Mame install folder where the exe is and see if there is a mame.ini file there, if there is not then look in the \ini folder for it and if it is there instead copy it out to the main folder next to the exe. Lordmonkus Posted January 31, 2018 Author Posted January 31, 2018 Updated the original post to add an image to illustrate the differences between merged, non merged and split Mame rom sets. Quote
