LaunchBox can't see external storage on android 12
Jason Carr replied to marcoabm's topic in Android
Just spent 2 hours attempting to get USB devices working, but unfortunately I did not have success. Google has screwed the pooch once again and at this point I'm not convinced that it's possible to launch ROMs in an emulator from a frontend over a USB device on Android 11 and 12. More details are posted here: -
Alright, I've spent 2 hours trying to get USB drives working properly on Android 11 and 12, and unfortunately I don't have good news. Once again, Google has completely screwed the pooch with USB drives on Android 11 and 12. Some of the technical details are here: https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/176617573?pli=1 Yes, some of the apps you've listed can access USB drives, but that doesn't mean that things will actually work between a frontend and an emulator. For example, at least in my testing, the Dig frontend, which does see USB drives and can import the games, cannot launch those games with AetherSX2. It just doesn't work. I would expect that to be true for the majority of emulators, if not all of them (I'm guessing all of them). Also important to note is that RetroArch, which is in my opinion the most important emulator to run on Android, cannot see the USB drives at all either. So we can all thank Google once again for allowing security to get in the way of functionality here. From what I can tell, it's not possible to use frontends and emulators properly on Android 11 and 12 over USB drives. Hopefully this will be fixed in Android at some point, but as of right now I don't think it is possible. Please let me know if anyone can prove that it is possible to successfully launch a ROM File that is located on an external USB drive from any frontend to any emulator. I'll need to know the details on the Android version, the device, the emulator and emulator version, the frontend and frontend version, and as many details as possible. If there is a situation that works, we might be able to figure it out and proceed. But as of yet, in my testing, nothing is working, so there's nothing we can really do here.

This is a matter of opinion, but generally, I don't agree. Images, titles, and gameplay can differ greatly between releases on different platforms. Sometimes a game will release with the same title for several different platforms, but be completely different between the platforms. This change would only create confusion, and you'd end up with images for your games that don't actually apply to the platform of the game you're looking at.

What version of the theme are you running? Are you running the latest version from the Themes Manager? What version of Big Box are you running?

LaunchBox for Android New Version - Beta Testing
Jason Carr replied to Jason Carr's topic in Android
It's mostly just updates that need to be done, and probably mostly in the Strings file. There should be some missing strings in there. You can take the translation discussions over to the translation thread though here: -
What version of LaunchBox for Android are you running? Are you still seeing this issue? This may be related to your SD card, if you're using files on the SD card.
-
We added Naomi and Naomi 2 platform banner images for the next beta.
-
At this point it's highly recommended to install the sideloaded version of RetroArch 64-bit and use that for most platforms, including NES. There's really not much reason to use any other emulator for NES.
-
You can report them here. I don't go through and remove them often, because I just don't have the time to do it on a regular basis. But I'll probably get around to doing it eventually if you can post it in this thread.

We need to revamp the retro achievements implementation on Windows, because they've updated it and some things have broken since the last official release. They're working on some API changes over there. There's currently a lot of issues even with the desktop implementation where games don't always match up, because we don't have anything to go by other than file name/title. Depending on how the upgrades/fixes go on the desktop, we can decide whether to prioritize implementing them on Android.
-
Unfortunately we don't currently have a good option for this, outside of exporting from the desktop LaunchBox application or manually selecting individual videos by editing individual games. This is on our list though.

These issues should be fixed in the next beta.

Some NES roms not working on Android and/or missing metadata?
Jason Carr replied to rbarr110's topic in Android
There is an option in the import process to "Import Games from Subfolders of the Selected Folder" which is off by default. That would solve this, I believe. -
If you're looking to change an image in LaunchBox for Android, you have to do it via the interface. Just edit the game's media.

What themes for 3D boxes and cards views?
Jason Carr replied to Ted57's topic in Website/Forum Support
Unfortunately I have no idea why you'd be having so much trouble with sound on that TV. It might be worth trying a different TV to see if it's just an issue with the TV. I would still recommend RetroArch. I have used SNES9x in the past, but it's been a long time. It's probably pretty outdated at this point. You might need to just configure the controller settings for it though. -
Thanks for the report. Looks like we do just need to change the title.

I've been excited about doing more social features like the above related to the high scores myself for quite a while, which is one of the reasons why we put the social question on the poll. It definitely did get a good response. Stuff like this is one of the reasons why we're working on hiring a web/mobile developer.

I'm almost positive that Malwarebytes is the cause of your problems. I believe I've heard specifically of this issue with that software before, now that I think about it,

LaunchBox for Android New Version - Beta Testing
Jason Carr replied to Jason Carr's topic in Android
We recently fixed PPSSPP for scoped storage. Did a new version just come out that changed all that up again? @faeran might be able to come up with some here soon. I can probably add an option for that. -
CefSettings.BrowserSubprocessPath not found.

Yes, it's definitely a false positive. AVG is apparently even now reporting something as popular as Chromium (an open source version of Chrome) as a virus. To be honest guys, your best bet is to uninstall AVG and just use the built-in Windows Defender. AVG has no incentive to actually get things right, so they don't bother to make sure that they're not falsely identifying viruses. It's the same with all of the other third-party anti-virus solutions. AVG tends to be one of the worst though. -
We do get reports of this and similar things with the auto-updater from time to time, but they are very rare. Unfortunately we've never been able to reproduce any of these issues. If you guys can share as many details as possible about your system specs and what version of Windows you're running, that might help.
-
It probably won't be too long, but it's not planned for the next release either. But I'll note the request.
-
Yes, this. @Icebergnyc Apologies for not being more patient with you. But in all honesty, you're not a developer, and it's clear that your understanding of how a transition to Flutter would work (and how much effort and code would be required) is lacking. One company's experience is going to be massively different than another company, depending on the code and the technologies used.

Unfortunately not with this theme. You would have to go with a different theme, though there are a ton of themes available that don't fade out the wheel like that. So check them out in the Themes Manager.
