  1. Yeah, we've done some testing, and we have yet to confirm that any corrupted video files have been cause for a Big Box crash. It's still possible that a video file could be corrupted in a very specific way and then cause VLC or WMP to crash Big Box, but as of yet we have not been able to replicate or find any of those files.
  2. Glad to hear that we've got this solved for at least most of you guys. Huge thanks to @C-Beats for finding the solution on the web, and thanks for bearing with us. This is unfortunate, but no, we cannot "patch" or fix this issue for future updates, as it's not our issue. Please see here: https://github.com/dotnet/wpf/issues/2493 Keep in mind that even Microsoft Office is affected by this issue, from what I've read. It's an issue with Sonic Studio being poorly developed and improperly interfering with .NET Core. Microsoft's "solution", per the link above is to reach out to these companies and report their issues to them, apparently.
  3. Yes, we've considered this. We actually looked into building pinball into LaunchBox and Big Box properly, but found that it's unfortunately a whole lot more messy than dealing with games, so we felt like we couldn't build a good solution without reinventing the wheel, or without a year of research. It's not off the table for the future, but man, it's a mess out there.
  4. Most likely this is just some kind of connection issue. I confirmed that nothing is wrong with the server, and everything shows up just fine on my end. However, the high scores won't show up in LaunchBox if it can't connect to the server. Please read the first post of this topic for instructions on how to debug issues. We'll need the log file in order to be able to help.
  5. I'm almost 100% positive that there aren't any broken links on the LaunchBox Games Database. That said, if you let me know what image is being reported as broken, I can make sure that's not the case. I looked at @Jason6300's logs and I can confirm that the LaunchBox Games Database link is not broken. However, it does look like the EmuMovies one is. It would be good to report that one to @circo if you can using the support on the EmuMovies site.
  6. Hi guys, unfortunately I think these are primarily just Internet hiccup/connection stability issues. We could use improvements on how we handle these errors, however. In my previous experience, it takes a long time to come back after a timeout occurs, but it does eventually come back. How long have you waited for the process to continue before stopping it?
  7. Wow. That is certainly possible. Might be worth at least temporarily removing those images to see if it makes any difference.
  8. Yes, this could possibly be the reason. Though, it doesn't do anything extra on exit, if a bunch of stuff was triggered while it was running, it will wait for it to catch up.
  9. Okay, well that rules that out. Still puzzled, and still haven't seen a legitimate crash. I did some testing recently to see if a corrupted video file would crash Big Box, and I could not get it to crash (but who knows, maybe a video file has to be corrupted in a certain way for it to crash). We have had a couple reports recently that corrupted video files can crash Big Box, so I wanted to do some testing there. Media is really the only thing we have left here though as a possibility, considering that it's happening on multiple machines, either that or we're missing something. It's a pain, but the only thing I can recommend at this point would be to try and temporarily remove media folders to see what folder might be causing the issue.
  10. Doesn't matter. The newest version of LaunchBox requires newer versions of various Windows features, such as .NET Core. If those are corrupted, they will cause issues.
  11. Okay, unfortunately it looks like something is corrupted on your machine. I still need to know what version of Windows 10 you're running. You can type "winver" into the Start menu to find out. The first thing I would do is try a reboot to make sure that it doesn't fix the issue. After that, make sure you're 100% up to date on Windows updates.
  12. Hi kaine, I have a number of questions for you in order to help troubleshoot this: What were you doing when you received that error message? What version of Windows are you running? If it's Windows 10, run winver and let us know what version of Windows 10. Do you have any plugins installed? Looks like the errors are in LaunchBox, correct (not Big Box)? Are you using a custom theme? If so, what theme?
  13. I'm not aware of any good reason to do that. Generally it's a poor idea to delete alternate names, even if you think they're irrelevant, because usually they're there for a reason, and they rarely hurt anything. I'd be curious to know why users think that's a good idea though.
  14. Here's 11.2: https://www.dropbox.com/s/cg7fteljnwf0s9r/LaunchBox-11.2-Setup.exe?dl=0
  15. Yup, "puritanical nonsense". We've seen it all now. I've given several good reasons, they just all seem to be getting ignored or excused. Apparently this is quite a touchy subject, but we're done discussing it. Anyone who argues it any further will get the ham banner.
  16. Nice! So sounds like it's as easy as just stopping and disabling the Nahimic service? Well that's easy enough at least. Thanks for figuring that out.
  17. Sure, sorry to have you screwing with all of this. Wish I had a system that used it so that I could figure it out.
  18. Okay, sorry to hear. Hopefully this poorly-developed software will be fixed here at some point. Apparently it even causes issues with Microsoft Office. You probably don't actually need it; I believe it's some kind of visual overlay in games that they put in that causes the issue, not the actual drivers.
  19. There is supposedly an update available for it that should fix the issue, according to @C-Beats. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/nahimic/9n36ppmp8s23?rtc=1&activetab=pivot:overviewtab
  20. Good to hear; glad it's fixed.
  21. Hi Mark, unfortunately this means that you're using a pirated license. In order to solve it, all you need to do is purchase a valid license and then replace the License.xml file in your LaunchBox folder with your purchased license.
  22. @RedHoodRobin64 It would help to know if you have Sonic Suite installed, or if you have NahimicOSD in Task Manager, per the above.
  23. Yes, should be straighforward. Just delete the LaunchBox\Core folder, and then reinstall LaunchBox 11.6 over top. I would first auto-update to 11.6 though to see if that fixes the issue.
  24. Okay, mainstream support for Windows 8.1 ended way back in January 2018. Windows 7 support was extended to to January 2020. It seems completely backwards, but that's how Microsoft has done things. Unfortunately I'm not sure if the latest versions of LaunchBox/Big Box will work on Windows 8.1. I think they will in theory, but you probably will get subpar performance compared to Windows 10, and it might be tricky to get all the prerequisites installed correctly. So, to be honest, I would highly recommend upgrading to Windows 10 at this point.
  25. Yeah, it's clearly a Windows bug of some kind. @MuddyWaters79 was able to fix it by reinstalling Windows and such, but obviously that's too much of a pain to recommend to everyone. I don't know what else to do at this point. I'll update this thread if we figure anything else out.
