  1. This is a RetroArch issue, and it's hard to pin down. I've seen some reports of users saying that their game rips were causing it and after they changed them out it went away, I've personally avoided that by updating my version of RetroArch, some say redownloading the core, re-installing the Microsoft Visual++ Runtimes from the Microsoft site, so I guess take your pick in where you want to start.
  2. That's because it doesn't exist anymore, and that app hasn't been updated by the original developer. The XML's have been split in to the Data folder as of a version or two ago. What are you trying to accomplish?
  3. It doesn't leave your PC vulnerable, it's just a measure for Microsoft, but as long as you yourself are safe with decent practices and have good av / anti-malware software (Malwarebytes Anti Malware and IOBit Advanced System Care), you're honestly perfectly fine. I've been disabling it for the last 6 or 7 years.
  4. Turn off UAC. Type User Accounts in your windows 10 search and open the User accounts result, then "Change User Account Control Setting", and turn the slider all the way down. I don't ever recall needing to give Dolphin admin privileges, so I have no clue why you're getting it.
  5. I completely agree with Monkus on that, I would import the No-Intro set and then move over the hacks I would want and then import them, leaving the rest of the Good Set alone.
  6. Of course, no problem! If you have any more questions feel free to ask.
  7. Click on a game, Ctrl + A to highlight them all, and press delete. Only delete the entries from LaunchBox, don't remove the games. So if two delete dialogues pop up, press Yes then No. Then run the MAME Importer on your new folder. When it asks to download media, uncheck all of the boxes so it downloads nothing. It should it import fairly fast and the media you've already download will automatically attach it's self to games it matches with. To make sure you don't have any holes in media, highlight all your MAME games again, then go to Tools -> Download Metadata and Images. When you get to the screen with 3 questions, click the second one, where it will only download media for games that are missing it. Let that run and it should download media if any of the games are missing any of it. You should be good to go after that, it's actually a fairly quick process, but it's more or less the route you should take if you want to make sure you don't re-download anything. If you delete all your games from LB, then run the importer on the new folder and let it run through the downloader during import, nothing will change other than it will take longer, nothing will change or break, or it shouldn't. When you remove your games from LaunchBox, it doesn't remove any media that you've downloaded, and I can't quite remember if it redownloads everything again during import even if you have it all. I know for a fact though, that I will remove games from LB, then re-import that platform and deselect all of the media download check boxes, and all of my media is still there and re-attached properly. The only thing you should keep note of is any favorites you've made as it will remove those.
  8. Yea it looks like our downloads section is having some issues. I've let Jason know about it and we will try and get it fixed up as soon as we can.
  9. If you open up your images folder for other systems, you can look inside each respective folder and name them similarly. As far as I remember, it needs to match the systems name (that you used in LaunchBox) and be in the proper folder. It also doesn't look like people can submit metadata and images for systems quite yet for the database, but we do want to get those features implemented. To upload to the database it wont need to be named anything special really. You can also go to Tools -> Manage Platforms and add the images that way in there, and it will put them in the proper location with the proper names.
  10. Of course, no problem! If you do have any questions please let us know.
  11. No, people who are making the changes are not following the guidelines and then the moderators aren't following through properly. At this point in time, it's coming from both sides, clearly. I am sorry if you think I am being harsh about it, but I have thought about it. People are submitting data that is either not true or doesn't follow the guidelines, and the moderators are not moderating according to the guidelines. I'm not smacking anyone, but we can see who makes what changes and who moderates what changes, with which response. I'm not saying people need to be perfect, I know I've made a change or moderated a change that I had to think twice about and wish I could change my response, but even after we've asked people to stop taking matters in to their own hands and follow the guidelines as best as they could, they continued to do it their way. The updates to the database are coming, but we're a very small team, so we just ask everyone to bear with us and do the best job that they can under these circumstances, but actively defying us is not the way to go. It's going to just make things worse because instead of having great discussions about updates to the database or video games, we're having this conversation right now. Sorry to anyone who reads this and finds that harsh, I really do want everyone to be able to contribute and moderate, but the Community Guidelines exist in their current state based on the tools that are available. The point of the database is to make it a perfect companion to users who are using LaunchBox. Getting games properly deleted and the proper information is what the users want and deserve. If something was approved to be deleted, and it's not deleted right away, let us know and we'll take a look at it if it hasn't been deleted in 48 hours. That's the max time it should take for something to take effect. I added some JRPGs the other day, and it took about that long for the changes to be available for download. If anyone feels the need to contact me via PM about any of this, please feel free to, we can have this discussion privately if you would like.
  12. I would suggest to move them in to the LaunchBox directories as that will probably be the easiest method, as long as the media matches the name of the game LaunchBox should automatically assign the media to the game, also assuming it's in the right location. Otherwise, you go to Tools -> Manage Platforms, double click a platform and in here is where you can change the paths within LB.
  13. It will make a search through every category first, and the bigger the library (or amount of games you're running the update on), the longer it will take. It is also dependent on EmuMovies, if their servers are having some issues at all then it's going to go a bit slower. So granted, there are things that Jason can do to make it a bit faster, there almost usually always is, but in this case what you are saying is normal so far.
  14. Actually when I did the MSX tutorial (a while ago now, wow time flies), I used BlueMSX in RetroArch. I can take a look in to the MESS components for this and maybe do an updated tutorial in the future though as well if you'd like, but in this case MESS is certainly not needed to MSX. I try to only choose MESS for a tutorial when it's the only choice, or some how easier (which is generally saying a lot).
  15. Well it doesn't need to be exactly xinput, as long as they show up as controllers in LaunchBox, then that is your big sign that Automation should also work, xinput is just very common.
  16. No, because it only allows controller keys to be used. AHK is AutoHotKey, so without Jason adding in that extra functionality, you'd have to go the long way about doing it, unless someone else happens to know of an easier method. However, the script to exit the currently opened window is available when you edit an emulator on the AHK tab (I recall it being the exit script), so you just use that in conjunction with AHK stand alone.
  17. Yea this is totally possible, in fact, I've done this. We still haven't added new platforms, but that will be coming. So obviously more leg work will have to be done since it's not getting directly imported (hopefully one day), so you'll have to edit some games and let LaunchBox get pointed to their custom conf files, if they need one. Honestly, I've never needed a custom conf file, but I've also never used custom sound fonts or played every DOS Game, clearly @eXo is the master here. So I downloaded both collections, and had each game in their own rar / zip file. I then Ctrl + A to highlight every single rar / zip, then right click -> extract each file to it's own folder with WinRar (7zip should have a similar function too). It might also take a while for the extraction window to even pop up, let alone actually finish to extract everything. I then told LaunchBox where the root to my DOS games folder was in the DOS Import wizard, then used the option "Use folder name for game name", and it used the proper folder (as it will be ../DOS/Games/<insert full dos game name>/<insert dos short hand name>/<game files here>), so my original concern is that it would use the folder directly above the exe or bat file LaunchBox grabs, but it used the full name. Every so often I'll need to edit a game as it wont use the proper exe / bat file, or I need to run the install (through LaunchBox in DOSBox) for it to then work, but this would be stuff I would have to do even if I downloaded them individually (I had to rebuild my DOS collection twice before I found eXoDOS). If a game requires it's media as well, you can set all that up in the edit screen for the game in LaunchBox as well.
  18. Though, now that I am thinking about it, all you need is the ability to run an AHK script, which is all we essentially use. Grab the default AHK script from within LaunchBox and be able to run that with a keyboard command. I wouldn't be surprised if you could do it from within Xpadder or just download AHK directly.
  19. Then yea, unfortunately for Automation to currently work it will require a PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 or Xbox One controller. Even the latest Logitech PC controllers will work too, they just need to be using controller drivers for PC.
  20. If they emulate keyboard presses, then no, but if they utilize Xinput, then yes. If your controller shows up in the Controller Options menu in LaunchBox, you should be good to go.
  21. If you are using a controller, open up the options menu in LaunchBox or Big Box, and go to the Automation sections, and set the hold key, then the function keys, but only with a controller currently.
  22. Yea so the controller automation functions, but with a keyboard. So yea, Jason does want to expand the amount of functions, provide custom functions and open it up to use keyboard buttons as well in the future.
  23. Controller Automation functions are tied to a controller only at the moment, but Jason is interested in expanding it to more functions and allowing them to be keyboard bind-able so that it can have a lot more uses (most commonly will probably be arcade sticks). At least I assume you're talking about the controller automation exit function, if not then please correct me.
  24. Yea I also don't care if you use a controller or keyboard either. I do think there are some games that benefit with a keyboard over a controller (Skyrim, Fallout 4, pretty much any shooter), but the same can be said for a controller and I don't care which one at the end of the day you end up using as long as you enjoy your new PC and the game. Same deal with the 30 vs 60. I only care when frame drops happen under 24 (because then it's extremely noticeable) or if it dips while I record because I am a perfectionist when it comes to work and my craft. As long as it's steady, and 30 fps doesn't effect the gameplay in any significant way then I'm fine.
