  1. As long as the images are in the proper location, try and clear your image cache in the Big Box options menu.
  2. You don't need to move any of your games anywhere if you don't want to. So just in case, Tools -> Import -> MS-DOS Games -> Add folder. The I would point it towards this file path: After that it should do it's thing. Did you import any of your games previously? Unless the import process is broken, which it shouldn't be, the only time LaunchBox refuses to import something is if you already have it imported.
  3. LaunchBox will do what ever you want it to, LaunchBox is not an emulator what so ever but a facilitator between programs (even more than just emulators). I have Apple and C64 tutorials up on the channel as well. You can install DOS games any way you want to, with LaunchBox's help, without it, find them on the internet, how ever it is you want to deal with it. Point LaunchBox to your DOS games, and it will scan for the most likely exe or bat candidate, and import them in to LaunchBox, 1 per folder. It will then take the folder name and assign it that. For example, I have the entire eXoDOS collection, I told LaunchBox to look at my ../Emulators/DOS/Games/ folder, it found 1 file per folder and imported them with the folder names for game names. Sometimes I might have to edit the entry and point it towards a different bat or exe (It honestly just guesses), but once they're imported it's really simple to deal with and a very easy thing to choose another exe. Some of these games have custom .conf files, which I can also specify when editing a game, but generally speaking a good master file has worked well for me. I even replaced the DOSBox install in the LB folder with a DOSBox Daum install as I generally prefer that over default. I couldn't get DOSBox-x to work though. I would honestly suggest you watch the tutorials, especially the beginner SNES tutorial as it also assumes that the user is new to LaunchBox so that you can learn some of the intricacies. The video tutorials we found to be extremely effective and less time consuming as it easily shows users what to do. I would be more than happy to answer any of your questions though, if you have any more.

This and this FireFox / Chrome Addon is what I use to always get the cheapest price I can on my games. Enhanced Steam only works on the browser and does a lot more too.
  5. No, LaunchBox does not emulate anything at all. Every emulator and game needs to be supplied except for DOSBox and ScummVM as we just distribute those with LaunchBox, so nothing needs to be changed. It's a bit of an older tutorial as it was one of the first ones I did for the channel, but it will still answer a lot of questions you may have. You do seem versed in DOSBox, so you can skip the explanation portions if you'd like. GOG games would get imported like a Windows Game would as that is essentially what it is. There are tons of other tutorials on the channel to that I would suggest you watch for a few systems you are interested in. You can get there by clicking tutorials at the top. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

I've been wanting to play Stellaris too, but I haven't wanted to put the money towards it yet. Instead I buy 5 PS2 games and Civ 6.
  8. For games or for the console?

I love Endless Space, and Endless Space 2 is looking awesome. I also love the other games that studio makes. I've also been playing Civ 6 since it unlocked last night.
  10. If you are using Controller Automation in LaunchBox you select your hold button then you select the button for the action you want. You can change the buttons to what you want by clicking on where it says "Button #" and then it will ask you to press the button on the controller you want to change it to. Set up your hold button and the close active window button how you would like and see if that works. It's more powerful than just utilizing the Esc key as a lot of emulators may not use the Esc key for what you want it to do, especially PC emulators that utilize the entire keyboard.
  11. When you launch the game LaunchBox never asks you what disc you want to load. If you imported your game and it automatically merged the discs, right click the entry and select your disc from there. Double clicking it will automatically launch the first disc. If you imported them and they didn't automatically merge and there are multiple entries then you would have to either re-import them to get them merged or add them to the additional apps section your self. To swap discs you save state, close down, load the next disc, and load state; at least for swapping discs.
  12. Press Esc from the console screen to bring up the menu. Go to Options -> Image Cache, and select "Refresh All Images". If you have clear logo's for those games this should make it so BigBox starts to pick up on them.
  13. Use bsnes balanced, it's the recommended core. We need to update the defaults within LaunchBox, they're outdated.

    Where are you from?
  15. As a precaution, run a SMART scan and a drive fault scan to make sure that everything is good to go. After my recent Hard Drive failure where I lost my entire production drive, I am super paranoid about this stuff now.
  16. Try to clear your cache in BigBox and make sure you have clear logo artwork for each of those games, sometimes they may not all have one.
  17. In Big Box or LaunchBox? Can you give us a screenshot or some more info?
  18. Well if it's Tales of Symphonia (Disc 1) and Tales of Symphonia (Disc 2), then LaunchBox would combine them automatically. The scope for when it will combine is limited. If they are labeled disc2.iso, then you used the "Use Folder as Name" option?
  19. It should be happening automatically during import based on certain factors. How are the separate Discs labeled?
  20. I do want to note that the only exception is MAME, we have to follow their standard because otherwise it would be a complete nightmare. So when you importer MAME or Arcade systems, if the MAME import options don't automatically pop-up you can check the box for them and it will convert the names for you.
  21. No, DOS games can not be zipped. They are completely to complicated too do that. DOS (and other older PC's for that matter) are going to be a lot more complicated than most systems. They're obviously very doable and easier once you get the hang of them, but it's going to require you to use Google a lot. We do also have a DOS tutorial on our YouTube channel, though a bit older at this point, still very useful. You can get there by clicking Tutorials at the top.
  22. No, if you install LaunchBox on top of your current install, you will lose nothing. We instruct users that want to downgrade to take the older install and install it on top of their current version, and that works both ways.
  23. As far as I know, Jason and I never discussed changing the name convention, but we are of course open to talking about it, however what we have now works. All my No-Intro sets work, unless the game doesn't exist on the LaunchBox Games Database. Compared to HS, we do things a bit differently. A game doesn't need to match exactly for it to be picked up on the database, but the closer it is the easier time it has finding it. During the import process it is very strict so that it doesn't give you the wrong images and metadata. When you edit a game, you can search that specific game to the database and pick from a drop down list of what it is. Anything inside of brackets or parenthesis is ignored when giving the game it's name within LaunchBox. So Legend of Zelda (U) would just be Legend of Zelda. However, multi-disc games will get parsed and combined and region identification happens as well. The is ignored when sorting games so a game with The at the start will get sorted in to the first letter of the next word. For scrap-ability, The being at the start will help to make it easier, but it's not required. Sometimes the games will still get found or you scan that game afterwards. We don't follow a specific convention except for the name of the game. With a few exceptions currently as the database needs a bit of work (Alternate names), but the name of the game is the name of the game and that's what the file or folder should be called (if you use the option to use the folder name as the game name). Clicking a game then using Ctrl + A to highlight them all then Tools -> Download Images and Metadata will update the highlighted games, but it's just as strict during import. Editing a game, clicking search and choosing the game is the more customizable way to do it. There are games from time to time where I change the rom name just to keep things easy. If you have any more questions then I would like to point you towards our YouTube channel that has tons of videos and tutorials, all of the tutorials created by myself, by clicking the Tutorials button at the top of the forums. Otherwise, if you have any other questions please feel free to ask or search around on the forums, we have tons and tons of threads.
  24. Every day there is an updated that gets pushed out to LaunchBox users about the Metadata.xml, this is what holds the entire databases info. So as you know, games need to get approved to show up, but then also the update needs to get pushed out and then users then need to run a check against the database. LaunchBox will see the outdated file and update it before you try to scan for a games media and metadata. If that update didn't happen then LaunchBox doesn't know the game exists.
