robbforce said Are there plans to handle multi-disc games, where the second disc offers a different experience? For example, I attempted to split the "Gran Turismo 2" entry for PS2 into two entries, one for the arcade disc, the other for the simulation, but this was rejected. The two offerings are very different experiences within the same overall framework, with slight differences in their disc images and could have different descriptions. Other examples: Final Fantasy Chronicles Disc 1 - Chrono Trigger Disc 2 - Final Fantasy IV Final Fantasy Anthology Disc 1 - Final Fantasy V Disc 2 - Final Fantasy VI Other things I'd like to see were mentioned by Cebion already, so I'll +1 for "Game sets" and "Also on xxx system", with a comment field to describe notable differences, like "Dreamcast: Enhanced graphics and audio. There's an easter egg when you enter this room and hit the left wall to make Sonic appear momentarily on screen." This is clear in our Guidelines, multiple discs doesn't mean multiple entries, it's still the same game. I get they are two different modes, but they're apart of the same game limited by Disc Size not being different games. PS1 had 700mb-ish discs. We probably wont giveaway Easter Egg's, I'd like to see people explore and I don't want us to spoil all that. Also, we do have plans to deal with multiple discs, but honestly nothing is broken with it so it hasn't been priority. You can check out our BitBucket to find a list of all tickets, click "Feature Request" at the top of any forum page.

Well you are supposed to check when in doubt, but it's a little hard for us to ask that of everyone sadly.

Thanks for picking these up guys, Jason will be awake in a bit.

Agreed, thanks Fisty.

Importing MS-DOS games no information is scraped
SentaiBrad replied to kulverstukas's topic in Noobs
It's alright. Our DOS section is kind of ... pathetic to be honest. We grabbed all of our data from the GamesDB, and their DOS section was merged in with PC and wasn't given a lot of love. One of the first things I made sure we did was start to do right with all of the information we got. Number 1 was splitting DOS and PC and making sure we have the tools to allow everyone to start uploading for it. Jason and I love DOS. -
Well you don't have to, yea they would like it, but we're not forcing anyone on our end to use their service if they don't want to. You're more then welcome to keep using the daily limit by re-running the scraper under Tools. Granted, if you want video that's the only way we offer it is through them. However, music and images are provided to free members just obviously at a limit per day.

Ok I'll see if I can have Jason fix it then, if not we'll need to add a new entry and delete the old one. -

I mark duplicate reports when it's a duplicated report. We get a lot of them. Our BitBucket on a heavy day gets a lot of tickets. This could go in the BitBucket, but it's not a bug, it's just an error. This is what we have these forums for, when errors or miscommunications come up. This isn't about how I deal with the BitBucket though, it's supposed to be to fix this entry. If the other mods are on, if you make that edit then @Cebion, @FistyDollars and @DOS76 and myself will keep an eye on it. -

Here is fine, it's better than the BitBucket, that's more bugs and requests. We edit it and make sure it's approved. -
Ah yea the limit, yes they do. If you wanna stop seeing those 404's for the day you can log out for the time being, there's not much we can do in the way of fixing it, it's their API. Also, if you need more help take a look at the tutorials on our YouTube channel. They're at the link in my signature below all of my posts.

If you add new games to the folder just re-run the import process or just add the game manually if it's a single game. Drag and Drop or the Add button in the bottom right. The import process won't add duplicates unless you force it to. There is a music folder in your LaunchBox folder, along with an Images, Manual and Video folder. Go in to the music folder, then the system, and find the song. Should be named after the game. If there is 1 song, then it's associated to both. Delete it and re-download the song for the right game. If there is two, delete one and test the games, you may need to restart LB though. If the new game has a song you could also try downloading it's song, it should replace the old one. If you wanna remove the metadata from the game just delete it from the edit box then run the scan. Also no problem, I like helping. If you have anymore questions feel free to ask.

Just right click and Edit the wrong game, press the X for the images (to delete them from being associated with the entry) and then click the X in the top right edit box to disassociate it with that game in the Database. Not the X for the Edit box, when a game has been found on Wikipedia or the LBGDB there will be a blue link in the top right and an X next to it. You may also want to delete the Metadata for the game as well, the new entry may not replace every piece of metadata already downloaded. A new button pops up asking to scan for that game, then choose the right game from the drop down menu. If you want to re-scan an entire system (that wont fix this problem though), Click a system on the left, click a game, then Ctrl + A to highlight everything. Then use the Tools -> Download Metadata and Images option. You were also right, those 404's are from EmuMovies and it's because you have a free account.

What system? Are they the same file extension? Are they different then the others?

Having problem with consoles that use multiple names
SentaiBrad replied to weltall's topic in Troubleshooting
No the Alternate Naming was on the original GamesDB for games, I had the idea to apply that to our Systems and Dates as well. We already supply regions for images so the alternate naming and dates is to compliment that. What Derek said is what scraping is. It's just the act of when LaunchBox downloads Metadata and Images from the LaunchBox Games Database, Wikipedia or EmuMovies. As for looking at two systems at once, you could technically pull that off with Custom Filters as is. Past that no ones actually requested that before. -
Having problem with consoles that use multiple names
SentaiBrad replied to weltall's topic in Troubleshooting
You can already split them, there is just a scraping issue. Let me again say that the Alternate naming will fix this entire problem. The database will be combined, because these systems are the same thing, but if you keep them separate in LB the Alternate naming serves to fix that. Also, Jason has thought about implemented the "Scrape As" function as well, so both of these together should solve the problem in the end. Systems that are not going to be combined? Famicom Disk System for example, that would stay completely separate from Famicom / NES. -
Cropping and Color Correction isn't really Fan Art either, however those corrections can be made to Fan Art, but the act of making those changes doesn't make it Fan Art. No one is also saying you're not providing your free time, hard work and effort. Like I said in my first reply, I totally get how you are feeling and furthermore I appreciate you for helping. We still need to have Fan Art be Fan Art however. If that means some games don't have Fan Art, then that is fine. I don't expect sports games to have any nor do I except some more obscure Japanese games to have them either. Sadly, Fan Art is going to be made for what people like the most and we have to accept that. We can't force people to create what they want to create. If it exists then lets use it (also assuming the artists is ok with that), but the Guidelines are clear about no real photography.

The first time it synced my 18k games within a few min, the second time it took almost a half hour. Just give it some time.

How to launch exe files or shortcuts to exe files through launchbox
SentaiBrad replied to Wolf_'s topic in Noobs
Huh... I don't remember that option changing the use of needing an emulator... but I guess so. Yea we know there needs to be an options for Drag and Drop that says Windows Executable's or something like that.
