  1. Of course it's possible, and a great Idea. Should make a Ticket for it on the LaunchBox Games Database BitBucket. Sharing Save State files and System Saves is a good idea.
  2. Click on the platform on the left, then click a game to the right. Once clicked, type Ctrl + A to highlight them all. Then go to Tools - Download Metadata and Images. I would choose the 3rd option so that the media isn't re-downloaded unless you want to update from our Database since there are lots of submissions being made... I don't know if there have been many N64 submissions though.

They're not adding anything back in necessarily, just putting the image back together. The scanlines have to be added back in because it was a product of the TV's not the consoles. Different shader's have differing effects and some are better then others. The emulator is just trying to emulate the console as best as possible, not necessarily the TV. If you wanted real scanlines with an emulator you could always convert a VGA signal from a PC to composite cables and plug it in to an old TV. :P I also love that series myself. I've always loved crisp pixel art in anything I use and that gives me hope that If I ever had enough money I could get it on real consoles too. Edit: Oh and I've never heard of anyone spending money on shader's... if so... they got tricked.
  4. Oh no don't get me wrong, we love the suggestions, I was just offering up what we had planned to see if that would work instead. We know that users can't see every post or BitBucket ticket, but please don't stop the suggestions. Also, you can't edit your posts after someone has posted after, it's a weird thing with out Forums and you have to get special permissions to edit after someone else has posted.
  5. We already have a system we want to implement though. Just like there is regional box art we'll have alternate names and dates.
  6. Well yea because what about the game Intellivision Lives on the PS2?
  7. You're not limited to what we have in lists, you can add what ever you want, you just won't obviously get any metadata or images for it from the LaunchBox Games Database.
  8. A very bad very old Emulator written in Java. There are some odd, but oddly good games on there. It's actually cheap enough to just buy an N-Gage and the games. You have to buy a specific version of that phone, essentially an unlocked phone or a phone that you can still get service on or the games wont work. Store display models also work because they're unlocked. http://emulation.gametechwiki.com/index.php/Cellphone_emulators#N-Gage_.28Nokia.29
  9. ZX Spectrum... I hope. Edit: .... Or a Commodore... but I stick by Spectrum.
  10. Right I mean what you had typed in to get that. That is odd, but I can confirm that it's broken. I'll make a ticket for it.
  11. I'll be honest, my first thought was a Pong clone because of that controller, but I couldn't think of it exactly and that was on the tip of my tongue. I know my Console history... but damn. I guess it doesn't help that I woke up at 12:45 AM and couldn't go back to sleep.
  12. What did you type in for search results? Nothing?
  13. Yea potentially, but a lot of games that came out on the Famicom Disk System also came out on NES. Legend of Zelda and Metroid were first on the FDS. It being in two places at once doesn't mean it's necessarily wrong, just potentially a metadata change. In the case of a game that was only on the FDS that is in the NES section, then yea that feature makes sense. You can make a Database BitBucket ticket for it if you want.
  14. Famicom Disk System is a completely seperate console and should be treated as such. The NES and Famicom are largely the same console hence the need for Alternate names with consoles, games and alternate dates. If it's the same console under a different name the consoles need to be merged when alternates come about.
  15. I'll need to buy you a beer for that flattery. Or is it the other way around? xD Sure, go ahead and e-mail me the information and I can forward it to Jason. brad@unbrokensoftware.com
  16. HeyItsFalcon said SentaiBrad said Consoles are currently not editable. I am unsure if they'll ever be open, but we still have some tweaks to make to them before we decide either way. Makes sense. Just an FYI that the Atari 2600 release date was Sept. 11 1977 not October 14, 1977 as it states in the description. We grabbed most of our data from the GamesDB, so we assumed there would be wrong metadata in places. However, which date is listed and which date are you referring to? Could both be valid just different regions.
  17. MAME needs to go in a folder, you're just trying to install all of MAME's files to your desktop.
  18. Are you talking about on the Database? They're not open to public editing but we would always be open to them being made better.
  19. Consoles are currently not editable. I am unsure if they'll ever be open, but we still have some tweaks to make to them before we decide either way.
  20. At a certain point we just trust our mods. Make a judgement call. You can either deny it and hope the user comes back to re-add the game, or you can wait for the game to get added then change the metadata yourself. It will be easier to deal with when we have all of the features available.
  21. If it's related to the game and not a real image or screenshots compiled from the game, then I approved it. I approved a bunch of Castlevania fan art that looked pretty good and approved the deletion of just straight screenshots as fan art. It's kind of subjective, but we still have our guidelines. There was just a straight image of Bugs Bunny, that is kind of a toss up because it's a Bugs Bunny game. There was a shot of a real Basket Ball game for an SNES Basketball game and I rejected that one.
  22. Bsnes Balanced is also just as great, it's what I use and I've never had a problem with it. But to get perfect emulation there are some drawbacks. Speed hacks are just a necessity early on, not to mention Higan is still being developed. I don't think Higan ever differentiates accuracy vs balanced anymore. Emulation wise you should be great though.
  23. Bsnes, like I said, should have perfect emulation across the board. As for texture files, I am unsure I never bothered to check. You know what RetroArch can do though, it can do lots of stuff. If you like RetroArch as is then check out the bsnes balanced core. I think the mercury cores can also play Star Fox at a regular frame rate instead of 15. xD It may not be the mercury cores, it's been a while since I checked that out. RetroArch has quite a few for SNES though.
  24. I am unsure where you read that but ZSnes is actually the least accurate SNES emulator out there using tons and tons of speed hacks, nor has it really been developed for years. When I got back in to Emulation I used Zsnes because it was the emulator I first used in 2000, so I started using that again in 2008/09. Once this stuff started taking over my world I found out a lot of things. Bsnes is considered "the perfect" emulator for SNES and it's since been turned in to Higan. Bsnes Balanced in RetroArch is damn near 100%. I say "perfect" like that because it's emulation is supposedly perfect or near perfect but that obviously doesn't account for features someone may like.
