I've had an issues getting software stuff to run while using the -skip_gameinfo tag
-
For CDI you will need a command similar to the ones need for any of the software lists so for a few examples a5200 -cart for Atari 5200 or coleco -cart so I don't know what it is specifically but it is what ever MAME uses for the software list name followed by the -cart/tape/flop/disc

You will have to edit your individual platform XML documents in order to change where LB thinks your games are in bulk. Best method is the find and replace method using NotePad++. Using the find method type in your original path, then go to count and make sure it actually finds what it is supposed to after that go to the replace tab on the small window that opened and now type in where your games now are located and click the replace all button then save your changes and close out of NP++. LB must be closed while you edit the XML or the changes will not take effect.
-
The larger file the smaller one I believe is just to update if you already have the program.

Changes to the LB XML have broken its functionality in RL and the RL people now have to change their code to get it to work together. Not sure how long it will take.

ROMs you definitely have to find on your own but emulators aren't copyrighted material and can be linked here on the forums. I would suggest RetroArch also but kind of reluctantly because it isn't usually some ones 1st emulator but it is good and there are some basic tutorials so depending on your understanding of Windows ie file paths and command line this could turn out to be extremely hard or not all that difficult. Either way people will try to assist you so feel free to ask about anything other than where to obtain copyrighted material ie ROMs and BIOS files. Here are links to various emulators Demul MAMEUI RetroArch PPSSPP DeSmuME Dolphin Sega Model 2 Emulator SuperModel CEMU PCSX2

Who wants to help us design a bartop arcade cabinet? :)
DOS76 replied to Jason Carr's topic in News and Updates
I'm building a bartop and I wish I knew about these before I ordered my controls. -
Try creating a dummy email just to get the software.

Bigger cabinet to take to a convention means its more of a pain in the ass to travel with. -
1) You should be able to setup buttons in both BigBox and LaunchBox under the controller options. I just got those same encoders for my project so I am seriously hoping that they will work. 2)You can indeed shutdown from inside of BigBox.

Did you always need the .chd files? I could have sworn these were working but since updating to the latest version of the emulator they didn't work any more giving me some sha error or something like that so I updated the roms then the error message changed to that about the missing .chd or .bin file then I grabbed some .chd files from the 170 set and put them in the folder and now everything is working.

I had a 920 and even with a good card in it it struggled with Dolphin that being said if it is well taken care of it is a solid PC for $140 but that is a 1st gen i7 and the 6th gen ones are probably about to be replaced before the end of the year (don't really know if this is true it just seems like they keep em coming). I don't know if I would sink any money into something that old.

In LB go to the bottom right and click add add your Kodi.exe path and give it a custom platform name and you just added the .exe as a platform

Using the power recovery setting in the BIOS is a much better solution then I don't have to cut any leads simply when the switch on the powerstrip is thrown every thing will will power down and then when the switch is thrown again the PC will power up. My current plans are to use this inside of the back of the machine for the PC and the monitor connected to one of these which will come out of the back of the machine and plug into a power strip that has a switch on the back and then that will be the switch. Those solutions I already own this is another possibility but I would have to order it.

I'm sorry it just seems that your suggestion is extremely arrogant to me.

I'm an atheist personally myself and I feel that this is Jason's website and if he wants to express his beliefs on his site or in his program then that is his choosing if that would influence you not to purchase the product that is your and anyone else who feels the same ways options. While you bring up a valid point and that it could influence others not to purchase the product on the flip side if you value your beliefs strongly enough then that wouldn't even matter and you would be perfectly content selling it to those who either shared your views or those who were tolerant enough to allow you to express them as you see fit. One of my major complaints about most religious people is that they are extremely intolerant it is a shame to see an atheist showing the same intolerance that we have been trying to free ourselves from since the church persecuted Copernicus

Yeah it needs to know the platform so if you want to add Stella then the system is Atari 2600
-
You can use whatever emulator you want LB has no dependence on Retroarch.
-
Yes you can copy it and then paste it back.

Oh I just saw a video for setting your BIOS to set AC recovery to on and your pc will start with the flick of a switch so as long as at least of one the computers BIOS supports that I'm good.

Okay I've finally pulled the trigger and got a bartop kit. Yesterday I made jigs and measurements for the pieces so next time I'll be able to make my own which should be pretty simple. I've put it together without any of the wiring or anything yet just to make sure it fits and even though it is all easy to assemble it is going to require a lot more work to get it complete first the one I bought only comes with six button holes and a joystick hole for both players so I have ten buttons per player and I bought a player 1 player 2 button also so I have an additional 10 holes I need to make and I'm also debating what I want to put in it. I have three candidates for the machine. 1st is an Asus EEEBox 1021E it is low power but due to button issues arcade machines are limited so I don't need a power house. 2nd option is the MeeGO Pad T02 which is incredibly small form factor making it an enticing choice. 3rd and final option is an Asus P7Q57 I have this laying around in a case but could easily remove it and mount in in the case it has an I5 650 and a Geforce GT 625. Its a small card I got with my Asus M51AC. The P7Q57 is the PC I would like to use the least even though it is the more powerful of the three the size of the other two make them appealing but I have concerns about how to wire them since they are in cases and I don't really think I would want to disassemble them and I don't know how I would go about turning them on. I have a few plans like to notch the back of the case so the EEEBox sticks out enough to make the 2 USB 3.0 ports, card reader, audio jack and power button accessible from the back or side of the case. The MEEGO Pad is so small that it could be mounted outside of the case possible on the underside of the marquee or on the back or the sides. The mobo would probably easiest to jump a wire to something to power the arcade machine. Really I have the buttons figured out pretty easily and they should be a cinch except I need two extra 3 pin wire to the 4 pin lead that come with the buttons which only come in 20 packs on Amazon. Any body have any advice on how to power this thing it would be preferable if one button turned on the monitor and the PC. I'm going to star looking around to see how its done but was wondering if anyone here had any advice.

So some MAME games work and others don't. Have you tried the ones that don't outside of LB to see if they work then. Do your MAME ROM set and MAME version match? If not maybe they are one of the games that needs to be updated to the latest version or they no longer work in MAME.

I had an issue the other day after adding Emerson Arcadia 2001 games to MAME. MAME was saying something was wrong with my naming and then individually listing games to find a match or something or other and I had to click enter over and over again so I ended up using Task Manager to end MAME. My issue was that I named it Emerson Arcadia 2001 but in the associated platform put Emerson Arcadia so that was causing MAME to throw this strange error. I'm not sure if that was similar to your error.

Yeah that platform is now created but until you add a game it will not show up and it is totally by design.
