  1. I just tested it and I was a little disappointed I assumed that it just launched the game not selected it from your list. Not a big deal just not as random if you don't have to play the game.

    Altirra help?

Altirra doesn't require a bios and renders better than KAT but the cart mapping is problematic unless you use a custom command foreach game.
  3. It does have favorites and you can play random games but if you can play random favorites I don't know but if not that would be a pretty cool addition. Maybe even make it so you can randomize by platform or any of the custom filters. Sorry if you can do this I've never played with the random function in LB.

    Altirra help?

Yeah I've been using KAT5200 for a few years now just looking to update it to something that doesn't have a Windows 3.1 look to the UI.

    Bezels

What did you end up paying for a spinner if you don't mind me asking?

    Altirra help?

That a matter of opinion really and I don't mind putting in the time to get them to work just to have them work.

    Altirra help?

Ok based on the mention in this weeks tutorial I've discovered Altirra and to tell you the truth I'm pretty impressed by it except for one issue you have to enter a command line for each game giving it a cartmapper value. 4 is the value for 32K games 6 is the value for 16k two chip games and 16 is the value for 16k one chip games and these aren't the only values just the most popular ones.
  8. I don't know about that I'm a Plex guy personally. If I was going to shell anything I would probably shell BigBox and then use it to launch Plex and SlingPlayer for recorded media and live TV.
  9. You could also set Kodi up as a platform in LaunchBox or an application platform with Kodi in it. Then you could use Kodi to launch BigBox and BigBox to launch back into Kodi.
  10. That's LaunchBox reading the data from the XML. You must not use the betas either if that is the 1st time you are seeing that its been in now for the last few beta versions.
  11. WOW $70 for Genesis game in 2016 that's wild. What sucks for them is the day it hit market the ROM was probably dumped and available to get online.
  12. Any advantage in using the DreamCast version over the Genesis version.
  13. The RSS for this topic isn't the same as the video segment as the RSS videos on YouTube.
  14. I hate when people are ignorant to other people who are trying to learn something. I'd rather teach them what they might need to know then berate them for not knowing, but that's me. LB forum is a friendly place where users can get help without being insulted for their lack of knowledge.
  15. well the 1st cover lauchbox found didn't look like a Genesis cover. Online I found covers for Genesis, Mega-Drive and MegaCD
  16. Just downloaded Pier Solar and added it to LaunchBox I even found a mocked up Genesis cover to go with it. I played for a few minutes and it looks like it could have potential.
  17. At what part do you run into the problem? I'd be happy to help you out with explaining anything specific that you want to know but I can't sit here and right the LaunchBox manual.
  18. In most cases you can do so very easily the only issue can come is when some times you have things on different drives and you are using the full path to them. Say for example you have items on a J: drive in your one computer and you are using the full path J:\Emulators\Nintendo\NES\ROMs if your new computer either doesn't have a J drive or if it does but those files aren't on that drive in the same exact folder structure than LB will return the ROM doesn't exist error when you try to launch it. Even if you do have this issue you can easily use Notepadd++'s find and replace method to change your directories in LaunchBox.xml. In order to check what your folder structure is click on a platform and then right click a game and choose edit. If you see the example of the path in my image that is using a full path and would be unusable on another install without first doctoring the XML file. If files where pointed to a network location they would still be good on another computer as long as the new computer was on the same network and had access to the file locations
  19. LaunchBox/BigBox is a Windows only application

    Neo Geo

No for me WinKawaks is very buggy and has issues rendering probably due to the fact that it hasn't been updated in forever. I was so glad to finally replace it the other day.
  21. Sounds nice is it DDR3 or DDR4? I built two new PC's over the Christmas holiday using the Intel Core i5 6500 and two different Asus boards one with DDR3 and one with DDR4 but I don't really see any difference between them they are both rock solid and they run so cool it is unbelievable

    Neo Geo

I totally agree with LordMonkus but if you are looking for other alternatives MAME, WinKawaks, Final Burn Alpha stand alone and Nebula should all handle NeoGeo games. If you don't have any RetroArch experience I would suggest watching this video by Jason (who is the developer of LB) which is an excellent getting started guide and then that can be re-enforced even further with any of the system specific tutorials that Brad has done which are very good and will get you up and running there isn't a specific tutorial for any of the FB Alpha platforms but the other videos will give you a good idea on how to setup any system properly.
  23. You can play Lunar Lander on MAME no problem
  24. I don't know there are some old school gems on Master System that I like to rock out on Black Belt, Fantasy Zone, Phantasy Star, Alex Kidd in Miracle World but they are all games I had when I was a kid and they do hold a nostalgic value for me. Also I play 7800 Centipede and Asteroids pretty frequently.
  25. Yeah my collection is huge and i don't have any computer stuff in LaunchBox don't get it wrong II have all the roms I just don't have them in LaunchBox and to be truthfully I don't care for many of the emulators because you actually have to know how to run some ancient ass computer with out any instructions. I don't know if adding it to LaunchBox eliminates the need to use the computers interface but for the few I tried it was a little challenging since back when they were on the market I didn't have a computer and they were much less intuitive at that time. For the most part any of the earliest systems aren't a big deal to keep even if you will never use the games the file sizes are minuscule even my 400+ N64 collection is only around 7GBs which isn't anything really but as you start getting into Dreamcast PS1 and up you are starting to talk hundreds of GBs and PS2 is ridiculous when the next generations of emulator are finally viable to play you will need massive amounts of storage if you plan on collecting them.
