  1. Found a huge issue with this in that i can't map my controller. I am going to try to copy the controller part from my other version into the ini for the new version which would probably work but if not that is a serious issue EDIT Xpadder to the rescue
  2. I got that error when running LB on a tablet with 1GB of RAM to fix the issue I went in to Tools\Options\RAM Cache and turned my cache down to almost zero then the issue stopped.
  3. I got like 5 games that were black screen only running now still a bunch not running. I refuse to use Yabause as my main Saturn emulator. SSF is work to get all your games to run mostly because you have to set up all the additional apps in LB but once they are set up they just work and most work good. Also it seems the picture quality is a little better in the test version.
  4. I guess development on SSF isn't dead as I just found a Test version available to download here. The documentation about it was here
  5. Ok I'm curious is this (-L "cores eicast_libretro.dll") a typo and it should be reicast_libretro.dill or is it some weird naming where they aren't using the full name. Also when I tried to use the standalone version for Windows all it would do was crash when I tried to load any game.
  6. I finally setup RetroArch this morning and I have to say that with your tutorial that it was beyond simple so far I have SNES and Game Boy Advance working. I haven't setup the controllers yet (I have to leave to take my uncle to chemo in a few minutes so I will have to tinker later. I'm just amazed that something that I've been dreading and thinking wasn't worth the effort worked so quickly. It is crazy that they use X and Z that is so unintuitive (which turns out isn't an actual word but should definitely be one) who would figure that out. Anyway thanks for the lesson Jason.
  7. Would it be able to update all the games if you use the all platform
  8. I have to say there is a huge performance hit on the images when using a remote instance of LaunchBox I don't know if it would be better with a local instance of LaunchBox with just remote images. However if you increase the RAM cache setting in LaunchBox (I pushed mine to 1024MB = 1GB) and it has significantly improved performance.
  9. Belarc Advisor is a good one to find out info about your system. It can even grab your license key for Windows if it isn't an OEM install if so it gives you a key but it won't help you reinstall. I have saved reports for every one of my PC's saved on my server. Also Ubooquity is awesome for setting up Comic Book and Ebook web servers it allows you to read ebooks (pdf only) and comics over the web and if you have epub books you can download them but not read them unless you have Firefoxes epud reader then it will read them from there
  10. I understand completely I have two servers my self and use them to store all of my media. I've added Colecovision to a LaunchBox install running from my Windows Home Server 2011 and I am in the middle of adding NES. ColEm launches with no issues and plays although thinking this through more I added emulators from the server where you would probably want to have the emulators locally so you didn't run into controller issues if you were using multiple PC's. How it would preform using more advanced systems though I don't know. I am also curious if I could launch it from more than one PC at a time. EDIT Ok I just successfully launched a second instance of LaunchBox from another PC while the original one was still open I even played a game of Galaxian over remote desktop and it worked fine. So with a little more testing it may actually prove that it is possible to run LaunchBox from a NAS or server completely.
  11. I stand corrected. I actually just copied my LaunchBox folder minus XML video images and music folders and I am going to test how running it from another PC works. It initially took a little longer than usual to open and that is with nothing added to it yet so it may not be feasible.
  12. I don't believe that is possible I've never tried to do it but you may be able to store LaunchBox on the network drive and use it on your PC. Is your computer a Laptop or a Desktop if it is a desktop you could get an external drive or add an internal drive (I prefer internal but both work fine). If it is a laptop you could get an external either a passport, a full size that needs external power or buy an internal drive and a drive enclosure. If your laptop has an optical drive you can get a hard drive caddy remove the optical drive and add a storage drive to the caddy. I've done this on two of my laptops then got optical drive enclosures so I can use the drive via USB if needed. There are now 256 GB SD cards that are around $70 which make good LaunchBox drives especially if you aren't storing all of your games on them that would accommodate your metadata with ease. If there is a way to store your media outside of LaunchBox I've never seen the settings for nor have I seen an request to be able to so. EDIT Sorry just saw that this is an HTPC what form factor is it does it have room for an internal drive? Does it have an SD card slot?
  13. Yeah I've used that in the past when trying to figure out where my HDD space was going worked good.
  14. I've been using Everything on my server for about 2 years now and it's awesome. I try very hard to store as little as possible on the clients. As for freeware I like Clover for a more advanced Windows Explorer, Revo-uninstaller. KeepAliveHD which writes small txt file to your hard drive at a specified increment to keep it from spinning down was getting excessive head parking on all of my WD Green drives and this has slowed down the occasion that it happens. CDisplayEx as a Comic Reader. ARS Clip as a copy and paste tool. SpeedFan for temp readings. Bulk Rename Utility whose name pretty much says it all.
  15. I've requested this myself and I am still hopeful to see it in the future.
  16. Yeah already pulled the trigger had to make sure it was the right board though seems they have a Celeron and Pentium version also I tried to see if they had any better than the i3 I already had but don't see anything higher. I'm hoping it works also I found one that was $10 more but was new instead of used (or at least that what they are saying).
  17. Have you tried to see if those ROMs work with another NES emulator?
  18. I think my laptop is toast it won't power on I've wait quite a few days. I'd really hate to throw it away I can get another board (which has everything integrated chip and RAM for $65 on eBay my only problem with that is if the Mobo isn't the issue but I'm thinking it would have to be if it was the i/o daughter board I'm not sure that would keep it from powering on unless it is the battery but since there is no power when I plug it in I doubt the battery is the issue either. I just don't want to be spending a ton of money to fix it. If I can spend $65 bucks though then it is worth it to me to fix it if not I have a 500Gb SSD and another wireless card to add to my parts bin. What do you guys think is it worth fixing? The board comes with a 2 month warranty also.
  19. Unfortunately you have to remove dupes manually you can however use the control button to select multiple games at one time to delete them.
  20. Additional app method worked I thought it would. Now you need either direct support of LEDblinky or Global Additional App settings for platforms where you could set an additional app and have it apply to all games in that platform
  21. I've never had any issues with snes9x although I'm using snes9x-sx2 which got some games that ran shitty to run great (mostly Super Star Wars with audio problems but they don't exist with the sx2 flavor).
  22. Now I'm really off of the calendar idea!
  23. Its actually very beautiful here in the southern part of the state and in many place in the north too when you get away from the turnpike as you get closer to the city (NYC) it gets much more industrialized and crowded. There are way to many people crammed into this place though that's for sure.
  24. Never heard of him before but I am very impressed by his work.
