  1. I haven't looked at it yet but I definitely agree with @CADScott about both the RAM and the SSD unless you want to max out the RAM I would just buy for the two slots allowing for greater upgradability in the future. Not that you will need 32GB of RAM unless you want to start running multiple Virtual Machines but you never know what the future will bring.
  2. Ok I'm starting to like the notion that Higans could be to Nintendo what Fusion is to Sega. Does it handle Famicom Disk System games?
  3. There have been occasional issues with them having downtime in the past.
  4. It depicts her fighting ISIS though which is not what I expected when I clicked the link. I thought this was like some jihadi propaganda game and people where up in arms but that isn't the case because the heroin is fighting the terrorist. While it displaying real live execution is in bad taste I think maybe the author is making a bit much out of it say if it was a medieval game and there was gruesome beheadings depicted then there wouldn't be an issue with the level of violence. It sort of reminds me of the David Cross standup when he talks about people declaring that video games are making people violent like the human race hasn't been violent since it inception he then goes on to state that he wants to know the name of the video game that Hitler was playing. While I wouldn't play this game personally (I'd be afraid the NSA would start watching you if you downloaded it) it seems like just another source of media that depicts violence which are already in abundance.
  5. Nice if Higans is as good as everyone says I may be switching over. Ok I got it running in full screen but if I can't get it to stretch to fill the whole screen that is a deal breaker for me. i know there are many purist out there that want it to be pixel accurate but I think the black space on the sides look terrible. If anyone knows how to get it to stretch I'd appreciate the help. Also does it load NES and Game Boy ROMs now to or do you need to have the old style folders? I don't know why I'm asking that of course I am going to go try it on my own.
  6. Yeah that looks a lot nicer then my setup I only have 2 monitors that match. For some reason the forum displays the pic rotated if you click on it it displays properly
  7. Building them is great fun (mixed with some headache) I have a few small form factor machines too and the limitations can be frustrating at time. The new 6th gen i5's are great they run at incredible low temps and I grabbed both of mine for around $200 each
  8. You can always get a USB 3 add on card for not that much money some times drivers can be a pain if you are using Windows 7 or lower but they are easy enough to find.
  9. To elaborate this is all just stand alone RA that I'm trying to setup I haven't even attempted to use it with LB yet as if it doesn't work on its own then there really isn't any sense in adding another layer and not being as certain as to where the issues is. RA has found my TurboGrafx 16, Game Boy Advance, Game Gear, SMS and Genesis Bios so it is at least detecting some of them.

    Amiga CD 32

I don't have much experience with WinUAE but I have gotten it to work for Amiga CD games outside of LB and can confirm that you don't need any third party software to get it to work it handles the disks on its own beside that I'm curious as to what commands do work as I would like to setup my games in LaunchBox.
  11. I'm trying to setup PC-FX with the Mednefen core in RetroArch but I can't get it to work I have a file called pcfx.bios in the systems folder but when I load the core and then go to info it tells me that pcfx.bios status is missing and required. I downloaded a bios pack for RA but PC_FX isn't the only systems whose BIOS isn't being detected PS1 Mednefen core says the same thing it list multiple BIOS' that I have but reports them all as missing. I can get RA to launch simple stuff like SNES and Game Boy but I don't need it for that really PC_FX it is almost the only game in town beside Mednefen which is a PITA too perhaps I don't have the correct BIOS file as I have to rename it to pcfx.bios to get it to match the funny things is I read Mednefen is looking for pcfx.rom to work so its strange that RA is using their core but needs a different name. I think Brad mentioned before that he had this working anybody else no what I could try? I'm using RA 1.3 if that helps at all
  12. You could try saving your LaunchBox.xml and all metadata folders in another location uninstalling LaunchBox and then reinstalling as I believe it will download the redistribution files when you set up LB of course I am not 100 on this. I'm also unsure if uninstalling LB will delete any of your folders that is why I am suggesting that you copy them somewhere safe.
  13. Can you get RA to launch the game outside of LaunchBox
  14. if you were to change the resolution in Fusion you can probably find a full screen setting that doesn't crash the emulator when going full screen if you have an issue with it not scaling correctly at higher resolutions go into the properties for the fusion.exe and disable display scaling I run all of my Fusion systems full screen without any issues but only after learning about the display scaling fix. I use 1920x1080 on a few computers and it displays fine with no black bars or anything.

    RocketLauncher

Played a little more with RL today and was having some issues with the systems I added the other day which were Genesis and Master System using Fusion today when launching through RL the games would start and you would here the sound but the RLUI stayed on the screen until I used alt+tab to change the window. Also I added Saturn basically because I wanted to test the mount/unmount feature I set up Daemon Tools as my Virtual Drive in general settings under the third party tool and added my path to the emulator and the games which seemed good but when I tried to launch the games it say it is a folder not a file even when I manually launch it and choose the .cue file I get the same error message. The auto mount feature alone would definitely make using RL even in LaunchBox a must for SSF at this time just to avoid the crazy amount of work that setting it up correctly takes in LB but I can't get it to work at all with SSF.
  16. It takes forever that why when I do actually edit the games one by one I also browse to the location and change the name to whatever TGBD list as the name this way when I add LaunchBox to another machine then I won't have to change them the next time around.. One of the things that sucks is that most of the time it will be that my ROM is named correctly but the users who added the game to the database where lazy and left things from the title out one of the greatest examples is Disney games which will be named Disney's something or other or Disney-Pixar present and the just add the title so mostly it is wrong user data that is causing the issues. The re-namer is a good idea you should add it to the BitBucket page.

    RocketLauncher

Just to add on here until a user (in post #24) asked what he really gained by adding RocketLauncher to LaunchBox nothing was said about it. At that time Brad just gave his opinion that he personally feels that LaunchBox doesn't need RL which is his opinion. When you write that the thread would be more appealing without the last two pages it sounds as if you are implying that a thread that doesn't have opposing views to yourself or any debate would be more appealing . It sounds as if you are trying to censor another users opinion which is far worse than people having conflicting views on things. I personally started playing around with RL the other day because of this post and managed to get a few systems up and running through RLUI (I haven't really messed with any of the settings yet just launching the games which it does more than adequately) but the person asked what he would gain and Brad responded with his opinion then that was followed by other giving their counter points and him responding. Nowhere did anyone get nasty or rude with anyone else it was just people offering their opinions and there is nothing wrong with that. This debate is strictly an opinionated one any way with no party in the right or wrong because whether or not a user should use LB alone or RL and LB in conjunction is purely subjective to the person in question.
  18. I so wish that there was but no at the present time this is not possible but it definitely needs to be added at some point.
  19. Ok its pretty simple take the main version of the game that is in LaunchBox (or at least that is how I prefer to do it but you can actually choose any version you want) right click it and go into edit. When the edit window opens you will see a group of tabs in the lower half of the window the second one in will be additional apps. Click that tab then click add application when the new window opens name your additional app then point to the path of your app (I would suggest checking the use emulator check box before entering the path this way your ROMs will show up in the list if you use the browse button) after you choose your ROM click ok and rinse and repeat for as many versions you want to add to that game close it out then right click the game again and all of your additional apps will be listed in the context menu.
  20. Isn't that on the list of things Jason wants to work on or am I mistaken in thinking that I read that somewhere.
  21. Does that mean something? If so I want to learn what it means
  22. Yeah basically if you enter any item from the menu the videos sound pauses and when you exit from what ever settings you were in the last video sound start playing again.
  23. Ok found that the issue where if you select a game with a video and then switch to a game without a video the sound keeps playing still exists.
