  1. An overall config is good to do for the bulk of your games but some games will need a specific setup. Fighting games and twin stick shooters like Robotron and Smash TV come to mind.
  2. If you want to. I just tried to force importing it and I couldn't get it to work either. @Jason CarrThis is a bootleg rom of Crossed Swords 2 which was originally a NeoGeo CD game in case you read this.
  3. It's probably something to with one of the check-boxes at the last step about importing clones or games classed as not fully working. Try unchecking all the boxes and import all regions.
  4. I agree with you to a certain extent. I agree that having the giant collection that fills an entire room is excessive but that's my opinion and not something I am interested in. But at the same time having an entirely digital collection isn't necessarily better. I prefer a hybrid of the 2, have an emulation collection while having a small collection of physical hardware and games that you actually like.
  5. Lol, I know where you are talking about and yeah their Saturn disk images are horrendous but I have found their Playstation and TurboGrafx CD images to be perfectly fine. Their forum boards however are amazing for getting quality downloads.
  6. Lol, yeah there were and still are some awful rom sites out there. Thankfully nowadays we got ad and script blockers to help combat them and a couple of reasonably decent sites now.
  7. Hmm interesting, the only roms I have seen with .bin extension was Sega Genesis / Megadrive and cd disk images.
  8. I haven't seen and SNES roms with a .bin extension, I have only seen .sfc or .smc roms.
  9. Yeah I prefer it to look like a good quality new monitor than some burned out junker as well.
  10. Lol, well I did say it was only a guess. The reason I guessed that way was because the pixels looked a tiny bit too perfect. Doesn't bother me one bit to be wrong about it though, it means that the shader tech is so good that it's nearly impossible to tell the 2 apart and that's a very good thing. Though I am sure some CRT purist who stares at them all day could tell the difference but we don't care about those people
  11. I don't have any example shots at all, sorry. But I really like the CRT-Geom preset it has. It has the benefit that HLSL has in that it doesn't care if the game is vertical or horizontal unlike the old GLSL shaders but it doesn't have the customization that HLSL has. You are stuck with what you get unless you really know how to get down and dirty in code for now. Supposedly they do plan on customization and ini files like HLSL. Was my guess correct ?
  12. I'll take a guess and it's only a guess at the first being the LED and the 2nd being the actual monitor. Very nice settings you got there, have you checked out the BGFX presets in newer versions of Mame ?
  13. I did 178 romset import a couple of weeks ago and filtered out all the clones, mahjong and video slot / poker games. The total number of games was around 2800 and then after I went through it there were some artwork gaps and some broken games. After cleaning it up a bit I got it down to 2650 games.
  14. I cannot answer your questions about CHDs since I don't use them. As far as the importer goes I can only say that the built in Mame importer is much better than it was when that program was made. But also like CHDs I have not used so I cannot say if it does or does not work now. Mame roms are generally fairly compatible with newer versions of Mame as long as it's not extremely out of date but I will tell you that Mame 178 does have one significant change that makes some of the 177 roms not compatible. Version 178 requires the the Capcom CPS roms has a .key file in them while older versions of Mame didn't so there are some issues there.
  15. I believe I read over on their forums that is something being worked on.
  16. The UI can be a bit daunting but the pay off is worth it. I like the unified look that shaders bring to all the games running under it for one thing. The 2nd best best reason to use RA is the Hard GPU Sync option which reduces input lag in their emulator cores. There are other reasons like easy to use save states from a controller and easy to setup controllers. It's also always under development, while stand alone Snes9x hasn't been updated for a long time the RA core is always getting worked on.
  17. Cool, command lines can be a thing at times
  18. It might be, but like I said I don't use Snes9x. I use Retroarch, it's much better even if you use the Snes9x core in it it's better.
  19. Anything with a fast CPU, preferably 4.0 GHz or higher. Now it doesn't have to be that fast but for PS2 emulation you will get better results, it's a demanding emulator. You wont need a GPU to run those emulators in software mode at native resolution but you will need to CPU to run them at all.
  20. For Dolphin open the emulator, go to Tools > Options > Interface tab and uncheck "Confirm on Stop" For Mame while it's running press Tab on the keyboard to bring up the UI. Then go to Input (General) > User Interface > look for UI Cancel. You can set a hotkey combo or multiple hotkeys to close out Mame. I don't use Snes9x but I will get it and see what I can find in it, I suspect there is a setting in somewhere to have it start full screen. Edit: For Snes9x go to Video > Display Configuration, check Fullscreen and uncheck Emulate Fullscreen. This should work.
  21. The printscreen button on your keyboard will take a picture and save it to your clipboard, then open paint and paste it in.
  22. Can you post a screen shot of your cue sheet in notepad and the folder it's in like the example I posted ?
  23. Ok my guess is your disk image is the problem, RA and Mednafen in general is picky about them. It's not just crashing so the bios are fine and in the \system\ folder which is correct. Are you trying to load it straight through RA or through Launchbox ? Try through RA directly first, if its working through there then it's a LB problem.
  24. Hmmmm, my first guess is it doesn't like your disk image. Are you telling it to load the bin or the cue file ? RA uses the cue file.
  25. Lol its all good. a cue sheet is just a table of contents really. Its a file the emulator uses to read the disk image data. Here is a screen shot for example, notice the bin file name matches up in the first line in the cue sheet. And age is no excuse, i'm 42
