    Demo Mode

Well the main reason I don't have videos was up until recently I was on bandwidth capped internet so I didn't want to waste my usage on getting videos (they add up). I may switch over to using videos but to me it's just not a big deal to have them.

    Demo Mode

I like this idea since I don't have videos taking up hard drive space. /goes to remove Custers Revenge and Beat'em & Eat'em from system
  3. Very nice, where did you find the buttons for each game ?
  4. You should be able to get up to 3x or 4x native resolution with the hardware core though, keep in mind that shaders will look very different if you do go that high with the res.
  5. I don't know where to tell you to start unfortunately, I don't use it myself since I have no need for it with the 2D sprite games I play on the PSX. All I can say is mess around with it and if things go tits up just wipe out the hardware psx core config file and start over with it. Not a good answer I know but it's the best I got right now.
  6. The windowed scale is for pure windowed mode, it will have no effect on full screen or windowed full screen mode, it only determines how big the window will be when it loads in a window. My honest opinion for the best option for N64 emulation if you just want one emulator is to use the stand alone Mupen64plus, PJ64 is also ok. Unfortunately right now N64 emulation is kind of in a shitty state, it needs work.
  7. If you are going to upscale the resolution you want the hard ware PSX core, it's a separate core. The non hardware core does it in software and it is slow.
  8. Windowed Scale = 3.0 is the size of the game screen when in windowed mode and that is in the general video settings. What I am talking about is in the core options. Most (not all) cores have extra options specifically available to that core which is in the quick menu when you have that core running. You can try other video drivers but gl is all around the best driver, it's what I use and I have an Nvidia card. There is no 1920 x 1080, there will only be multiples of the native resolution of the original hardware so the closest would be the 960 resolution. If you want 16:9 you will have to force it in the general video settings and like you said previously, it looks bad. Though some people really prefer it. You can turn off integer scaling though and it will get rid of most, if not all of the black bars at the top and bottom of the screen.
  9. With a game running, bring up the Retroarch menu with F1, go into the quick menu > options > resolution, set it to the resolution you want. Close Reatroarch and restart.
  10. For N64 there aren't really any good shaders that I found to my liking. I just straight up use upscaling the resolution. For 8 and 16 bit sprite based games I prefer a CRT shader over a smoothing type of shader, IMO the smoothing shaders only look somewhat decent in stylized art games like Mario World and Yoshis Island but games with a more "realistic" art style like Final Fantasay or Chrono Trigger they don't look so good. If you want a smoothing shader look into the sabr and xbr shaders and see what you can find.

  12. Well it isn't a case of picky, it's a case of different games will either work / not work better or worse in different emulators. For example Beetle Adventure racing is only playable through Mupen64plus, PJ64 and Mupen RA aren't even playable.
  13. The setting you want is in the N64 core options and not the video settings. With an N64 game loaded in the Mupen core open the quick menu and go into core options. In there look for the resolution scaling, after bumping it up to what you want you will need to do a restart for the changes to take effect. Personally I don't recommend using the Retroarch core, I use a mix of PJ64 and stand alone Mupen64plus on a game by game basis. N64 emulation is in a not so good state and needs a lot more work, a lot of individual tweaking per game with it.
  14. Your problem being fixed now with your old bios and roms probably means that you originally had an issue with the bios path in Retroarch. Sorry I can't help with your question though since I don't emulate any of those systems.
  15. If you are going to try my HLSL settings then you will need 172 or newer. Before 172 HLSL was shit in Mame but with 172 they made some changes and made it extremely good and the settings I use don't look good at all in previous versions.
  16. I suggest you give stand alone Mame a try with my HLSL settings.
  17. Honestly I couldn't tell you, I just use the stand alone Mame.
  18. Weird, hopefully @Jason Carr or someone else has an answer for you with that one cause I haven't run into that one.
  19. I found Mame easier to setup controls for actually and with good HLSL shaders it looks really good. Retroarch Mame is just as good in terms of emulation quality though and you get more shader options. My issue with RA shaders though is I like a CRT shader and vertical Mame games don't work well with a CRT shader.
  20. Hmm, is it maybe set to full screen windowed ? Is there a reason you are using the RA Mame over stand alone ?
  21. I can't help you with the movies but I would suggest you use the Mame core without a year after it if you want to use Retroarch for Mame. The 2014 core is based on the 159 version of Mame plus you can turn off the nag screens in the core options. As for your Retroarch loading up in the background do you have your Mame Retroarch core set to load full screen or windowed mode ?
  22. Darkwater dumps are rock solid, I don't recall ever getting a bad one from them.
