  1. Thanks for the reminder of this. I have now edited that guide to indicate that the RAM Cache is no longer an option.
  2. No they aren't. Shaders are enabled in the mame.ini file. I have written guides on how to enable them and even uploaded my own HLSL settings here on the forums.
  3. Sounds like a Steam issue, it's controller stuff can interfere with BigBox.
  4. That's like saying Windows 3 runs on my old 386 perfectly fine so why doesn't Windows 10 ? Go use one of those other frontends since they perform so much better for you. Enjoy less features and less frequent updates and ease of use.
  5. Glad it worked for you. Yeah I find the mame.ini easier to edit than through the UI.
  6. Does your mouse work when loading games outside of Launchbox ? If not then you need to enable mouse support in the mame.ini file: # # CORE INPUT AUTOMATIC ENABLE OPTIONS # paddle_device keyboard adstick_device keyboard pedal_device keyboard dial_device mouse trackball_device mouse lightgun_device mouse positional_device keyboard mouse_device mouse
  7. Arcade doesn't need any parameters at all, they do have different check box requirements in Launchbox though. Mame Arcade: Mame Console:
  8. Try opening your retroarch-core-options.cfg file in notepad (found in the Retroarch folder) and look for the mupen64plus section, highlight all the lines that have that and delete them. Save the file and try loading up a game, removing all that stuff should revert all the Mupen64 core settings back to default. The screenshots look like some sort of filtering from the core options.
  9. I can't say any regarding the accuracy of Mames MSX and Apple II Plus emulation but I can say with great certainty that Mame is no where near as good as Stella (stand alone and RA core). Stella is the gold standard when it comes to 2600 emulation. As for getting consoles working with Mame we have an entire thread for it here:
  10. No, never rename any files that are part of any Mame rom set, this is the same for the regular roms and CHDs. Mame looks for the file names as they are and as long as you either put the CHDs in the same folder as your roms or tell Mame where the CHDs are located it will find them and use them.
  11. It's where all the base settings for the emulator are stored. The rompath line tells the emulator where your roms are if you keep them outside of the \roms sub folder of your Mame install folder.
  12. You should do it like I describe in my guide I linked. I even provided a batch file to help do it for you.
  13. 1. You can use either, just make sure the mame.ini is in the main install folder with the mame executable 2. You should use the version of mame that matches your rom set to maximize compatibility. 3. It can but you may have some games not work. 4. See #3. My personal recommendation is to just use the standard version of Mame that matches your rom set. Setting up everything you need through the mame.ini using notepad is simple and pretty fast.
  14. I doubt it's a Win 10 issue, I have 10 running on 2 machines with different hardware configs and no issues.
  15. Well since HLSL is graphics card dependent that shouldn't be an issue with the 750Ti or the on board 1660Ti.
  16. A fresh out of the box setup with only enabling hlsl in the mame.ini should just work unless you have something wonky going on like incompatible hardware.
  17. Weird, because all that is needed to get it to work is enabling HLSL in the ini file, all the other tweak files (like mine here on the forums) just change how it looks. Even my old PCs have been able to at least enable it and that is even using an old AMD graphics card.
  18. I don't recall saying stand alones always being the clear cut better choice, it's always a case by case thing. Sometimes stand alones are better while other times the Retroarch version is better simply because of the ease of use and input latency improvements.
  19. You do it using the command line which I realize nowadays that not many people know how to use. I made a batch file that you can use to do it, just drop this file into your Mame folder and double click it, it should generate a mame.ini and plugin.ini file in the folder. Mame Config Create.bat
  20. Yeah i'm not sure what games require it but I know some do require pushing a number for selecting 1 or 2 player games and using other numpad buttons to select different game types. It does vary from game to game.
  21. It's the number pad that gets more complicated to map on a controller.
  22. You need the "Machines" folder from the stand alone version of BlueMSX copied into your \Retroarch\System folder for it to work. While the emulation is fine the controller setup for it is a bit of a pain where Mames controller setup for it is much simpler and straight forward.
