  1. Makes sense - I will test it out. Arcade is probably the lowest Priority item - will need to try to go through my NES/SNES etc first. Going to be forever slow process. I am using a Split 192 set with merged CHD's just FYI.
  2. I thought about doing it all manual like that, but I was worried i would laze out. On MAME for sure...there's too much to go through. I don't really use the old computer systems either, other than eXo sets for DOS stuff. But Commodore and such I don't mess with. Mostly MAME, NES, SNES, Genesis, Dreamcast, Sega CD and then real selective (mostly RPG) on newer systems like PS1 - to name a few. Shouldn't be TOO hard I guess That No Filler, I saw that earlier today when searching Google..but my set is a 192 set so I was worried it might foul up. Man, 3k games in MAME set, I probably only need 50 or so of them. Guess I can use a website such as Racketboy to get lists of the "best" games and under the radar stuff. I would mostly take RPG's and then all the "best" games for each system. No need to have 700 NES games. I thought about using playlist mode as well, but due to limited space I want to actually remove those roms. I have all the full sets on one drive and I place my trimmed No Intro sets on another drive...I will want to actually trim those to whatever games I use.
  3. Over the years I dabble in and out of Rom collecting. I really like to play my real consoles but there's something cool about the meshed modern tech with old tech with emulation, and just being able to have more of a collection. However what I find is that when using ALL no-intro sets and rom sets etc etc - I end up overwhelmed in setting it all up and usually give up and move on. I did so with my last HyperSpin setup (despite it being really awesome) I started realizing that it actually stressed me out more than I enjoy it..because I don't like unfinished projects. I decided to then only put in systems I grew up with in some way or another (So like I removed odd systems I never had or wanted, like Colecovision for instance). This streamlined the amount of things to add to LB - but still 800-3k games in a system is still way too much to actually ENJOY. So TL;DR - Does anyone use a streamlined set of systems and games, that actually becomes usable instead of just some daunting collection to stare at? I am wondering if anyone has any compiled lists or dats (like clrmame dat files) with such sets. I would really like to do something like this so my collection becomes usable and not just a huge stressful project. I may just have to manually do it but that would be super tedious and stressful - I hoped there maybe was a project using CLRMAME dat files I could just streamline the process with - but also just curious what other people do as well.
  4. These rock...going to take a bit to make the cfg's for it
  5. Abandoned?
  6. Use this: http://arcade.mameworld.info/
  7. Thanks for the images and video - this looks great! Well done.
  8. Great, now I just have to remember how to set it up, but first decide if Retroarch MAME cores are worth bothering with yet, or I still need to use standalone version.
  9. Screenshots would be helpful
  10. Thank you both, I will grab the Split Roms and then Merged CHD and give it a whirl....after work that is lol
  11. So I went through this a long time ago when I had a full setup with Hyperspin, but starting over years later my mind has forgotten. I have done some googling and got some info, but still confused on what I need to download. I think a Split Roms set is the way to go, for ease of updating wtih packs (if I understand correctly) but on the site I use is only listed a CHD merged set. Is there a CHD Split set that I would want to use with a Split Rom set - or do I just get the Split Roms and the CHD Merged and I am golden? My head is about to explode.
  12. I've seen a bit of the YT tutorials it was just hard to find specific pieces of information (such as where the video went) I will take the time to read/watch all of that - thanks Coming from Hyperspin and Rocket which was SUPER confusing (but I had a sweet full setup before deciding to quit supporting that company) - LB is much easier, just new stuff to learn.
  13. Cool - yeah that's basically the same thing as what I posted, except the batch file will work with any core version so when new updates come out you can just rerun the batch again! Great community though, lots of solutions
  14. Sorry to semi necro this topic, but I can't get this per core overlay thing to work either. I finally got it working using overrides for each core, but have the same Genesis/Master System issue the OP had. I renamed the core but when I save the override, the game still saves it just as Genesis GX (so therefore it's still using one settings file for all systems of the core). (In other words, the core names are hardcoded in the DLL, I would have to recompile them with new names..which I have no clue if that is possible) Any ideas? Edit: Okay, I found something onlin that will auto hexedit the dll and make one for each system. All you need to do is download GSAR from http://gnuwin32.sourceforge.net/packages/gsar.htm Then edit the two paths at the top of the bat file, put the bat file in the cores folder and run. All works now - maybe someone else can find this useful @echo off REM Setting the paths SET "RETROCOREFOLDER=E:\Apps\RetroArch\cores" SET "GSAR_EXE=C:\gsar\gsar.exe" REM gsar website: http://gnuwin32.sourceforge.net/packages/gsar.htm REM Removing the older modified files del "%RETROCOREFOLDER%\genesis_plus_gx_libretro-cd.dll" del "%RETROCOREFOLDER%\genesis_plus_gx_libretro-gg.dll" del "%RETROCOREFOLDER%\genesis_plus_gx_libretro-sg.dll" del "%RETROCOREFOLDER%\genesis_plus_gx_libretro-sms.dll" REM Replace orig. internal name new internal name original file modified files %GSAR_EXE% -s"Genesis Plus GX" -r"Genesis Plus CD" "%RETROCOREFOLDER%\genesis_plus_gx_libretro.dll" "%RETROCOREFOLDER%\genesis_plus_gx_libretro-cd.dll" %GSAR_EXE% -s"Genesis Plus GX" -r"Genesis Plus GG" "%RETROCOREFOLDER%\genesis_plus_gx_libretro.dll" "%RETROCOREFOLDER%\genesis_plus_gx_libretro-gg.dll" %GSAR_EXE% -s"Genesis Plus GX" -r"Genesis Plus SG" "%RETROCOREFOLDER%\genesis_plus_gx_libretro.dll" "%RETROCOREFOLDER%\genesis_plus_gx_libretro-sg.dll" %GSAR_EXE% -s"Genesis Plus GX" -r"Genesis Plus MS" "%RETROCOREFOLDER%\genesis_plus_gx_libretro.dll" "%RETROCOREFOLDER%\genesis_plus_gx_libretro-sms.dll" pause
  15. Are your bezels somewhere?
  16. I may be missing something so obvious, but are there any guides discussing basic functions. I can figure out many things by looking at folders/themes/etc but for instance, I downloaded a startup video and can't even figure out where that is supposed to go.
  17. I don't think the wallpaper or background thing is an issue like people are making it. Most people set up background sets then use things they like anyway..so you're not forced into specifically wallpapers, you can use whatever you want. Obviously Wallpapers work REALLY well for later systems but would be a lot harder on obscure systems.
  18. The FV310 is the better one with the better filter on it or what not - but it's impossible to find. All the FS120 are REALLY easy to find, I see them daily on FB trading sites..for anywhere from free-60 bucks. Not too bad. Too bad the geometry is always jacked on them..I still have not gotten mine right. Pretty sure the FS is the earlier model, followed by the FV's and then later the XBRs? I got mine free on Craigslist, can't complain... (I could be wrong, I have never researched it except that I know the FV310 is the best one) Such a cool setup, I need to post mine when I get home later! Course..that's a little of the original top..but hey, we all enjoy that I WANTED to try to run my computer through my CRT but once I saw all the stuff required I just felt too lazy to do it, especially since I have the real consoles with SD Carts and such...but I dunno..I am intrigued.
  19. Hope this gets done, it looks awesome
  20. I use actual consoles for my retro gaming, I have rom collections just for fun - but let me tell you that your setup here is my fav so far. Genius idea to play the games on the CRT instead of just using filters and shaders! Which Sony is that? I have the 36FS120 so pretty close (course..they're popular and easy to find). Of course, yours is a newer version (XBR maybe?)
  21. I would help, but I barely have any spare time AND I have not messed with XML themes at all since leaving HyperSpin It's on my to do list..but with 3 HS kids and jobs and all that...hard to find the time!
  22. Looks clean, I like it.
  23. Mine was the MQ version which was like a branch off of Dark13s Nox on HyperSpin. This one:
  24. As a creator of one of the Aeon Nox themes for HyperSpin, I gotta say this is awesome. I have been wanting to make a theme for LaunchBox but just been too lazy to get it set up properly..especially after spending years working with HyperSpin. If I do ever set my system up with LaunchBox, this is the theme to watch for me. Love it!
