  1. That's also my assumption.
  2. I just did this and it worked on my system: Yes, I use autohotkey a lot and it still works fine when using my xbox one controller, just like it did with my xbox 360 controller. But there is an odd bug with ahk and controller automation using either controller and that is that if you exit a game/emulator using controller automation and you have an ahk code to kill Xpadder when exiting (for some emulators i use ahk to start xpadder and exit xpadder on close), it will not run that kill Xpadder code. This particular part will only run if you exit using the keyboard escape key (or escape button if assigned to the controller). That really bothers me, so I filed a ticket several weeks ago about it. All other things I've tried including ahk code to stop nomousy.exe works just fine for me using controller automation or keyboard escape key.
  3. It's in the system directory. It runs at startup on my system and then exits, assuming no error popup. For me I can see it runs as a startup item in task manager (check the startup tab). I have no idea what it is actually responsible for, but doesn't seem to hurt my xbox one controller at all from working. All I know at this point is that everything works, but I get that error popup at boot up. I may look more into it later, but no time yet. I'm just happy the controller is working great!
  4. No, it doesn't at all. It's very generic. I don't think it's an actual problem with the installed vc++. I think it's simply that the exe producing this error isn't compatible in some way with xbox one and existing c++ runtimes. I have every possible vc++ redistributable runtime and all patches known to man installed. I think a fix will come from updating xboxstat.exe and/or some new vc++ install or patch and/or xbox one firmware, so I'm gonna wait a while on Microsoft for that. They already know there are several problems around Win 10 and xbox one controllers. Hoping it's just a matter of time. Since it's just a simple error popup that only comes up when I boot up, it's not killing me. Some posters got rid of it with the Win 10 Accessories app and the controller firmware update it has, but that same app and firmware also royally messed up other people with xbox one controllers who tried it. So, I'm waiting...
  5. You don't need much at all to do this. I can do all this "old school" stuff on my dirt cheap Asus F2A85-M motherboard with no video card and AMD FM2 CPU with integrated Radeon HD7000. I put it inside an Antec case that looks a bit like a DVR but is deeper than it is wide (but is not tall at all). If you really just want to run the old school emulators, you can do it easily with modern super cheap Intel/AMD CPU with integrated graphics. I would imagine you could buy everything for around $250 total, including case and all parts (not just the video card ). You might even be able to get one of those Mac Mini sized mini PCs (like MSI Cubi) ready to go to keep it super simple if you wanted. Would I build one like this, probably not. All I wanted (years ago) from the one I mentioned was to be able to run a PC OS to play videos (no games) on my family room big screen HD TV. However, it turns out it can handle a lot of emulation with ease. If you think there is any chance you might want to emulate Gamecube, PSx, Wii U, etc, and play PC games as well down the road, then that is an entirely diff story in which you will need to spend some real money.
  6. I took the plunge and bought an Xbox One S wireless controller along with the microsoft usb wireless adapter and rechargeable battery/cable (since I don't want to be limited to just one xbox one controller at a time as I plan to buy another since it's working so well). I LOVE it!! I'm shocked and pleased to say that everything continues to work without doing much of anything so far, just by replacing my xbox 360 controller: Launchbox,Bigbox, Retroarch, all emulators I've tried, PC games, Xpadder (had to setup mappings again), Cemu (had to setup mappings for the xbox one specific cemu controller). I did have to go through some Win 10 hoops to make it the main player 1 controller instead of the xbox 360 it replaced, but that is an issue even just changing xbox 360 to a different xbox 360 controller. There is one issue that I don't like but I can live with it, because I don't want anything to stop working. Every time I boot up Windows when xboxstat.exe runs automatically (in the background), I get a visual c++ error popup, but clicking ok makes it go away and everything seems to work ok. I haven't yet tried to do anything about this because everything I googled so far on this specific error and xbox one with win 10 is older than the latest win 10 anniversary and other updates. I've also read to download the xbox accessories from the windows store to get an updated controller package but a lot of people say it broke their working xbox one controller setup. It also says it is needed to update the firmware on the xbox one controller itself so the headphone jack will work , but mine already works without doing anything, so I feel that maybe all the latest win 10 updates have already updated some stuff. Maybe I'm lucky that everything works great or maybe it will for most people who get the latest controller and have latest win 10 updates.
  7. I have 2 xbox 360 usb controllers and 1 xbox one wireless controller (just got my xbox one controller!). One specific xbox 360 controller was taking a player 1 priority in all emulators even if another controller was plugged in by itself, so the one I want to use as my main controller didn't work at all or only worked as player 2 if i had the priority controller also plugged in. I wanted my xbox one controller as my main player 1 controller but couldn't make that happen even if it was the only one plugged in (i think only Retroarch worked in this case). I finally found out how to fix this terrible irritation in Windows 10. I plugged in my "priority" "player 1" xbox 360 usb controller and my wireless xbox one controller. Then I went to Devices and Printers in Control Panel. Checking the controller settings by right clicking either of them showed my xbox one second in the list. So, I right clicked the xbox 360 in Devices and Printers and chose to delete it. Then I rebooted (the reboot is a necessary step and in this exact order). After reboot my xbox one is still the only one currently enabled and showing in Devices and Printers. Then I plugged in the xbox 360 usb controller and Win 10 installed it again as it showed back up in Devices and Printers. Now my xbox one is first on the controller list and takes player 1 in all my emulators whether or not my xbox 360 is plugged in. Success!! I had the same problem with just two xbox 360 usb controllers where I wanted to use the other one as the main player 1 controller, but it was not the main controller, so this would solve the issue for two xbox 360 usb controllers also. This lets you fix the controller priority order. It seems to stick even after reboots. That one was killing me. Hope it helps someone.

  8. For a while I used HS and Rocketlauncher. Then I installed Launchbox and simply set the media folders to point to where it already was for HS. Everything worked fine. I could use HS, RL, or LB. Finally, just recently, I decided to go for it and moved all my media to my LB folder (since I just wasn't using HS at all anymore), and deleted all my HS stuff. I still have a RL stand-alone in there just in case I ever want to look at some platforms/games that I will not likely ever add to LB. But I don't run any emulators in LB through RL anymore. It's all LB now. All is well in my Launchbox world
  9. I looked up Ninite. Looks pretty cool, although I don't know if I'd use it. I often custom install things and want specific versions, but it does look useful. I would never use a program to install and/or update my drivers. But I guess some people might. These tools do sound quite nice, but they're just not for me personally.
  10. I've never seen vc++ redestribs in Windows Updates unless it is just service packs on top of the base installs. I've always had to install all my vc++ redistribs one by one (i have them all in a network folder and in dropbox), but maybe you know of some tool that does this. For .NET frameworks, you have to enable some of it inside Programs and Features/Turn Windows features on or off. What is Ninite? There is one good stand alone installer of directX 9 that will install properly on Win 10. I needed it, as dx11 and 12 was not enough for some things.
  11. For a Win 10 gaming and emulator PC, you are most likely to need: -directX 9 stuff (9.0c) -32bit and 64bit vc++ runtimes for: 2015, 2013, 2012, 2010, 2008, 2005 -all the .NET framework versions and service packs available for Win10 -enable Legacy Components->DirectPlay in Programs and Features/Turn Windows features on or off That should keep programs out of trouble.
  12. Woohoo! Just got the Launchbox black friday sale email to upgrade my premium license to a forever license and upgraded it! Yippee!!
  13. On sale for 79 bucks! https://shop.xgaming.com/products/x-arcade-dual-joystick-usb-included?_ke=Y2FybHBhdWxpbm9AZ21haWwuY29t
  14. How do you like this game @Zombeaver? I'm thinking about buying it.
  15. If you just want to run Xpadder for the emulator and exit Xpadder when closing the game, just use this in the ahk tab: run, r:\somefolder\xpadder /m $Esc:: { Run, c:\windows\system32\taskkill.exe /f /im Xpadder.exe Process, Close, {{{StartupEXE}}} } This assumes you use escape and/or controller automation to exit your games. Change the paths to match where your files are.
  16. This is possible by emulator. You can go to Manage Emulators, open the emulator you use for sega model 3 and add your autohotkey Xpadder startup command and exit command (can use taskkill command to exit Xpadder) in the autohotkey tab. Using the ahk script will cause Xpadder to startup when the game is launched and exit when the game is exited. There have been multiple requests/votes to add this functionality to the Launchbox gui per emulator and/or platform, but at least you can use autohotkey per emulator for now.
  17. An example more specific to what you stated might look like this, which would exclude the Games\Windows folder inside Launchbox: robocopy U:\Launchbox C:\Launchbox /mir /r:1 /XD "u:\launchbox\games\windows" OR (the command below will copy over the missing files and folders but not delete anything that isn't in the source folder) robocopy U:\Launchbox C:\Launchbox /e /r:1 /XD "u:\launchbox\games\windows" if you want to exclude more than one folder, you just add each folder path separated with a space like this: robocopy U:\Launchbox C:\Launchbox /e /r:1 /XD "u:\launchbox\games\windows" "u:\launchbox\images\cache"
  18. You can use robocopy.exe which is included with all Windows versions. It's like an advanced copy command and has the option to mirror or copy changes from source path to destination path. There are also options to exclude certain folders or files or file types. For example if you wanted to copy the stuff that is in the external hard drive but not in the desktop HDD, you could use a command like this: robocopy U:\Launchbox C:\Launchbox /mir so this command would make c:\Launchbox have exactly what U:\Launchbox has. If c:\Launchbox has a lot of the same folders and files, it will just copy over the stuff that does not exist on c:\Launchbox. be careful because the /mir will also delete anything in c:\Launchbox that is not in the source u:\Launchbox. if you don't want the two folder exactly the same and just want to copy the stuff that c:\Launchbox doesn't have but not delete anything that isn't in u:\Launchbox, you can use other command options like /e instead of /mir and some other options along with that. just run robocopy /? to see all the options including how to exclude certain things. i always use the /r option so it doesn't get hung up forever retrying a file copy in case there is something weird about it causing it to fail, so i would use: /mir /r:1 (more retries are best if copying files over the network, but not with two locally attached drives). there are some other options you might like too so check out what options there are. robocopy is a great command that will quickly sync up two folders.
  19. Seems like a script to copy or move all the media files from a HS to LB setup would be very useful for a lot of people. And it seems like it would be something LB devs would have great interest in creating since they surely would like people to move to LB. I'm actually surprised this doesn't exist yet! Does HS have the same exact folder structure for all media for everyone who uses HS? If it does, an automated script may not be so difficult, but would be great for people wanting to make the switch. I did it manually myself. But if I remember right, I think my HS setup didn't even have some media like cover art images for MAME. I am not familiar with the innards of HS because I got my original HS setup from a friend.
  20. I hope you will keep the WMP option because Launchbox has always crashed on me with the VLC setting when transitioning from LB to the full screen game when launching. I would prefer to use VLC but I have never been able to due to this bug. I filed it in bitbucket and on this forum a while back, but it was never fixed. I'm still on 6.12 and it still exists on 6.12. Edit: here is the bitbucket link: https://bitbucket.org/jasondavidcarr/launchbox/issues/1670/610-beta-3-vlc-crashing-lunchbox
  21. ._ files -> sounds like Mac OS X is messing around in there.

    Autohotkey help

    i just use the following in my demul emulator's ahk tab and it takes care of the mouse pointer perfectly: Run, R:\LaunchBox\Emulators\Demul\nomousy\nomousy.exe /hide $Esc:: { Run, R:\LaunchBox\Emulators\Demul\nomousy\nomousy.exe Process, Close, demul.exe }

i would start with this: http://pcsx2.net/getting-started.html
  24. You should check out this thread. It shows how to enable ahk for MAME. Search for this point "The key one to make the AHK inputs work is keyboardprovider. This option MUST be set to "dinput" (for DirectInput). Without this, MAME will not read the keystrokes coming from AHK." Hope this helps.
  25. this seems related to the new theme stuff maybe. i have a feeling if you open your Launchbox\Data\BigBoxSettings.xml file with notepad, you may see: <Theme>CleanBG</Theme> If you change CleanBG to Default, it may set you back to the default theme and work.
