Do you have Launchbox premium?
-
Does your rom name exactly match how the game is named on the retro achievements website? I believe it needs too. Also region matters as well i think.
-
No, you need the file extension or they wont work. The user above had 32x in the actual rom name, so for example "Doom 32x.32x" where it should of just been "Doom.32x"
-
This is a built in feature of the premium version of Launchbox.

This is however one of the downfalls of using a laptop like that, it requires a lot of power, they should really be thought of as a desktop that can be easily moved rather than something that will run off of battery's. PS1 is probably using your GPU, while other platforms use only the CPU, so maybe the CPU is being clocked down when on battery power, there may be options for power usage on battery in the bios, if Acer chose to expose it that is, a lot of manufacturers lock that down though unfortunately.

I just turn it off completely.

Captain Toad requires a colon. Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker Details - LaunchBox Games Database (launchbox-app.com) Chicken Range is only in out database for Vita. Search Results for chicken range - LaunchBox Games Database (launchbox-app.com) Danger mouse isnt in our database. Same with Devious Dungeons, we have Vita and Windows only in our database. So like i said in my original reply, it looks like a mix of bad naming, and games not in our database.

File type should have zero effect on scraping. Can you give a example of a file name that did not scrape?

Yeah, but its the same logic, as we do not support software lists at all and only arcade games, then the import process when using mame is only ever looking for shortname arcade games and nothing else. So in your case when importing non arcade, software list games the importer isnt seeing any games as the shortnames (if your set even uses them they could also have full naming and still work with mame) do not match anything in the list of working mame games that we pull directly from the mame emulator. Your only real current way around that is as already described to import under a different emulator, and just bulk edit that system to mame after the import is done.
-
The mame fullset importer only imports arcade games, that is by design and intended. NeoGeo CD is a console, and therefore a software list system, which we do not support. This is why specifying another emulator firts works as you are expecting.

I have also noticed this over the years, i have to first minimize or make the Launchbox window smaller before my taskbar will show on mouse point.

1. you can use any set you like, as long as you use the 0.78 version of the emulator also. Personally i would never use a set that old, and just get a current set as the MAME emulation has come a long way in the 20 years since your set was released. 2. Its on the same page of the fulset wizard as the filter options, but again if you have a handpicked set you should never be using that importer or seeing that screen, so you were doing it wrong to start with. 3. I have no idea what romset you have, it could be any set, so pulling out roms could break everything.
-
1. Then you will HAVE to have a Non-Merged set, you cannot delete any files from the other sets. 2. Playlists are only a option when using the fullset importer, and they are a option, you could of turned off there creation anytime you used the fulset importer. Also though if you are pulling out only games you play, then you should NEVER be using the fullset importer, it's not a fullset. 3.Has to be Non-Merged if you want to delete files.

Probably bad naming or a lack of metadata/artwork for what is actually a still in production system and not at all retro. How are your roms named?
-
There are four screenshots on the actual download page, this is not the download page, it's the support page.

Of course it is safe, we wouldnt have it as a feature if not. We use the Steam API to access the games you own on your account, and in order to do that we need the information requested. We do not monitor or store this information anywhere other than in a data file on your PC. Unbroken software, the company that makes Launchbox has no access to your accounts or passwords, as i say that is all stored locally on your machine.

A full romset (in your case 0.241) and the matching version of the emulator. The romset is all you need for 99.9% of the games. Some do require a second file called a CHD, which is essentially a disc image file which newer arcades made use of via CD/DVD or HDD. You only need to download media once, it is not deleted when deleting a platform unless you specify to do so. Depending on the romset type you have you cannot delete ANY files from a mame romset, other unrelated games may use files in completely unrelated game zips. MAME itself will give you a error if its a non emulated game or only has partial emulation. Essentially if you have a full 0.241 romset, and version 0.241 of the mame emulator, all working games will work. It is worth noting that a mame romset does contain a ton of roms that mame itself cannot actually emulate as of yet.

I think that is the default, my guess you unzipped the theme wrong and there is another folder in your theme folder.

Current versions wont, but the older one will, if Launchbox is working currently for you the Version of Bigbox associated with it should also, its one install for both interfaces.
-
Yes to both, a premium license allows controller mapping, but at that point you will be better off using Bigbox as that is designed as a controller interface. A yearly license will allow you to update to the latest versions for a year, at which point you will no longer get updates, but will keep the premium features. A lifetime license is just that, updates for any PC you own forever.

Is there an easy switch to RetroArch, and is it better?
neil9000 replied to scoobymcsnack's topic in Emulation
You would just add it like you would any other emulator, then go to the associated platforms tab and pick which cores you want for each system. However i would actively advise against using Retroarch for MAME, stick to the actual MAME standalone for Arcade games. -
Your time is appreciated.

Ah memories, this one was part of the pack-in game pack that came with my +2, played it a lot as a child.

Launchbox has no effect on actual emulator controls. The way your post reads is that you are setting controls in Launchbox and expecting them to then work in MAME itself, is that true? If so, then again that isn't how it works, the controls you are setting in Launchbox is to control Launchbox only, it will have no effect on any emulators you may use.
