  1. Thats not true, the data from a rom file is read and converted to something a PC can understand and run on the fly, In the case of MAME each hardware board essentially needs a specific "core" or "source" to run. Think of it like Retroarch, when you launch a game there it only works if its run it in a core that understands that system, (a genesis rom wont load in a gameboy core for example) same with MAME.
  2. In the Manage Emulator section of the tools menu double click your MAME entry, and look near t he middle of the window for a section called Custom command-line, it will have a reference to keyboard input there, just delete that whole line and OK out of the window, games should now launch. That specific command is needed for our pause screens, but is not a known command-line term for emulator versions that old.
  3. Whats the full error, a partial error isnt really much help. It looks like its saying it cant read the metadata file in the Launchbox folder, is that correct? If so close Launchbox and go and delete that file, then try again.
  4. Yes the black screen is part of startup/pause screens, as there needs to be something there that we can switch to from the games/emulators. Streaming complicates matters hugely, and was not something we designed for, so your mileage may vary, but essentially you are using a unsupported feature at this point.
  5. Restart Launchbox as the cores you have installed are checked at launch, its not a arbitrary list of cores that Launchbox has, it actually reads your cores from the retroarch folder. If that doesnt work, could you maybe have two versions of Retroarch on your system, and Launchbox is pointing to the one that you are not downloading cores for, as i can assure you this works just fine.
  6. Afraid not. You could use geforce experience to grab images, if you have a nvidia gpu and have it installed, but youll need to manually name each file.
  7. Not all emulators/games are supported, it depends on the emulator, exclusive fullscreen vs borderless window and the like. Cant say for that specific emu as i dont use it.
  8. Yes, Launchbox is a portable app, just install it to a different location.
  9. Yeah Skraper created that backup and obviously shouldnt, you were deleting games, but Launchbox was still reading the backup file as well as the correct one. You should never store extra files or backups in that folder.
  10. No cause you will still have the original right? So you have two PS2 files there, one normal and one backup? Have you used Skraper?
  11. My guess is you have some platform backups in your Launchbox/Data/Platforms folder. You can not store any other files here than what is actually being used, do you have any backup files for platforms here?
  12. Just drag and drop the .exe and choose the "none of the above" option in the wizard that opens, then just name the platform and finish out the wizard like normal.
  13. Looking at your image your roms are named badly. The one in the image is named "BC Racers 32X" that 32X should not be there, or if it is it should be in brackets like (32X). The way you have them Launchbox is searching the database for a game called "BC Racers 32X" and there is no such game so it finds no art.
  14. Most of the Naomi games do not work in MAME, so are not imported when using the fullset importer.
  15. Try closing launchbox and going to the Launchbox/Data/Playlist folder and manually deleting the files, see if that sticks. How are you adding these MAME roms? i'm assuming you are not using a fullset and are grabbing individual games from somewhere?
  16. 9.10 is 18 months old at this point, so there have of course been many changes and improvements in that time, and a lot of things have been completely re-written in that time to allow for future feature improvements as we were limited by the old views.
  17. Not with the default theme, no. You would need to change the theme back to the old default, and not the new one.
  18. OK, and is that EXACTLY what you called the platform when you imported it to Launchbox as it shows in the left sidebar? Those have to match exactly, it's even case sensitive. Other than that i can't help as its not a platform i emulate personally, but i do know many people have it working just fine in Launchbox.
  19. Have you added this platform to the associated platforms list for your Retroarch emulator entry, it is not there by default and without it Launchbox does not know which core to use for the platform?
  20. As far as i know nothing has changed in regards to these playlists from 11.8 to 11.9. This actually sounds more like the playlists are not actually being deleted than anything else, how are you deleting them, and have you checked that your playlist folder hasnt been set to read only for some reason?
  21. The dev's do not frequent the forums to much as they are busy developing, we also often get hundreds of posts a day, so its easy for things to get missed. you will just have to wait for a reply, but it could just be that no one knows the answer to your question.
  22. My guess would be a antivirus quarantined the file, so it was technically in use by the AV. By default you should never need admin rights to install updates, so thats my guess.
  23. Startup themes are not compatible if you have fades turned on in rocketlauncher, its one or the other. The fact that steam works which doesnt use RL, and nothing else does that does use RL leads me to believe that you have fades on.

  25. It is a feature, Launchbox is file agnostic, it will import the files you tell it to. You just need to drag and drop the eboot.bin to Launchbox and then rename it in the import wizard to the correct game name (which is what the plugin does for you i believe). As i stated in my first reply it is the eboot.bin that needs importing, you imported some .SFB file, that's not the eboot, bin, this is why games do not launch from Launchbox. If you add the correct file it will load just fine.
