  1. With help from Letstalkaboutdune's template I was able to make my first Genre Video! Now that I have everything set up, between myself and letstalkaboutdune we should be able to get many of these done that should suit most peoples Genres I think..... FILES: Motor_Games.mp4
  2. Seems you were right Giuseppelll, My entire Launchbox Folder was set to read only, I changed that and updated to the latest Beta and Everything is working fine now. Thanks!
  3. Can anyone help me out here, I have playlists under the Platform Category view, but LaunchBox and BigBox always shows no games? why is this? is there something I could add to an xml to fix this until it is properly fixed?
  4. Thanks Giuseppelll, I have checked that and it seems the xml was not set to read only but the data folder its self was. Thing is once I downgraded LaunchBox it fixed the problem without me touching the data folder, so I can only imagine it must be a problem with one of the new beta's I was upgrading to. however I will upgrade again in a while and see if the problem persists.
  5. Ah, big problem here with Steam games?? I just started LaunchBox to find that they are all missing? I have already backed up LaunchBox but as I readd the PC Games platform xml Bigbox sees the games at first but when I launch Launchbox it seems to all most delete every steam game? I have tried importing them again to find that they are added under the platform Windows, so I bulk edit the games to PC games (I use Rocket Launcher) and they all disappear?? Anyone know what's going on here??
  6. Looks Great Letstalkaboutdune! You are going to be busy for a good while with all that work! Thanks again man. will wait patently......
  7. Ok...Rhythm Games. This one was actually harder than expected. I read a lot of top tens but most of them were on the PS3 or the videos showed "not working" but here we go, -PaRappa The Rapper - Playstation 1 -Dance Dance Revolution: Club Mix - Dreamcast -Guitar Hero 2 - Playstation 2 -Rock Band 2 - Playstation 2 -Make My Video Kriss Kross - Sega CD -Rez - Playstation 2 -Amplitude - Playstation 2 -Bust A Groove - Playstation 1 -Samba De Amigo - Dreamcast -Space Channel 5 - Dreamcast -Puyo Puyo Da! - Dreamcast -Pop'n music - Playstation Portable -Patapon - Playstation Portable As always change anything you want but these snaps look fine to me, Thanks again for your time letstalkaboutdune!
  8. Looks good letstalkaboutdune I really only recently got into RPGs so I was at a bit of a loss there. Your list looks good to me as long as Panzer Dragoon Saga is in there!
  9. OK letstalkaboutdune, next batch! TopGun -Galaxy Force -Sky Target -Star Wars Trilogy Arcade - Sega Model 3 Role Playing Games: I'm not to up with my knowledge of Role Playing Games unfortunately but here is what I got that I know of, again these are video snaps that I thought had a lot of movement in them feel free to add what every you think might be better, I have included a few extra: -Snatcher - Sega CD -Psy-O-Blade - Sega Genesis - Translation. -Dungeons & Dragons - Eye Of The Beholder - Super Nintendo -The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time - N64 -Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete - Playstation 1 -Dragoon Ball Z: Sagas - Nintendo Game Cube -Panzer Dragon Saga - Sega Saturn -Shining In The Darkness - Sega Genesis -Shining Force 2 - Sega Genesis -Final Fantasy III - Super Nintendo -Final Fantasy IX - Playstation 1 -Deus Ex: The Conspiracy - Playstation 2 -Ys: The Oath In Felghana - Playstation Portable -Fallout 3 - Windows -Final Fantasy XII - Playstation 2 That will keep you busy! edit anything you want of course! 11. Ah, does it HAVE to be Themes? it's just that something like Strategy or Role Playing are not going to have many if any themes from what I can see, I just checked Emumovies FTP.
  12. Excellent letstalkaboutdune, will I just post a list or actually upload videos themselves?, By the way do you follow Comicbookgirl19 on youtube? She's made quite a name for herself and at the moment she is hosting an online book club covering the first three books of Dune?
  13. Have to agree with Hank_98 about the video being too dark man, I think it would be great if the video started off bright and then faded and then the logo appeared on top? Just a suggestion... These videos are awesome though I'd love to see ones for, Light gun games, Rhythm games, Flying Games, role playing games and Strategy games. I now these aren't all really arcade type games but they are Hyperspin Genres. I'd happly give 12 representative games for each one.
  14. Hi letstalkaboutdune, Would you mind if I added your shootemups and runandgun clear logos to my Genres list ?
  15. Yeah I split all my games into Genre Playlists, I posted a video about it a few posts back, it was a hell of a job, my library is massive so it took days because of missing Genre info. They really need to do some work on the Genre titles for the Data base. A while back I saw a guy had posted playlists split into Genres. I'm thinking of adding my xml.
  16. yes you can manually edit each game genre and in bulk as discussed earlier in this post, but to do what has become now 2000 games would take forever and the main problem with launchbox is the inability to deselect a game when selecting them in bulk as I have to see the video for each one to get an idea of what genre it is.
  17. Yes Thatman84 This tutorial is one of the ways or an "easier" way of creating a Symbolic Link.
  18. Just thought I would give people a little tutorial here on how to use "mklink" to create a Symbolic Link for the Launchbox Cache. Some people say it improves performance (I certainly noticed it) and some say they don't notice much of a difference, I guess it depends on your set up. This method worked for me very well when I moved the Cache to my SSD, I found that I could now use images set to there highest quality without any impact on performance and the images look great on a 4k TV. So here is what worked for me: 1. First download and install LINK SHELL EXTENSION found here http://schinagl.priv.at/nt/hardlinkshellext/linkshellextension.html (be sure to install the dependency's first)You should now have the option when you right click on a file to "Pick Link Source". 2. On your SSD where you want your CACHE to be located create a folder called "CACHE" (I find that creating a Folder named something like "Launchbox Cache" and then placing the new Cache folder inside it works best). 3. Go to your Launchbox folder and find the original CACHE folder in the IMAGES folder and copy everything in the CACHE folder to your new CACHE folder on your SSD. (this may take a while, alternatively you could just delete everything in the original cache folder if you wish but you will have to repopulate it later after the folder is linked, not a big deal really I just leave launchbox in "attract mode" so the Cache gets filled up). 4. Once you have copied everything (or deleted everything) from the original CACHE folder also delete the actual ORIGINAL CACHE folder itself as well (this part is important). 5. now go to your SSD and right click your new CACHE folder (or the folder it's in) you created earlier and select "Pick Link Source" 6. now go to your IMAGES folder in launchbox right click it and select "Drop as Junction" This will automatically create a new CACHE folder (where you deleted the original) INSIDE the IMAGES folder with a little chain icon attached to it indicating that it is now linked to your SSD CACHE folder! That's it simple but took me a while to get my head around so I just thought I would post this. A way to test if this is working correctly is to do the same with your platform videos folder, if after following the instructions above your videos display properly, everything is working fine! or of course you could just watch the space left on your SSD as the cache fills up.

Hi MetalVinnie, I don't know much about how to edit an XML document properly. I have made a few playlists for every system I have and I would like to split it up the way you have for separate systems. I assume this is possible with notepad++ at least I hope it is? as I say I have very limited knowledge of how to manipulate an XML, could you tell me what command I should use if I wanted to split up every MAME game for example? Any help greatly appreciated.
  21. To be honest I don't really like most of the Genre tags LaunchBox assigns to games anyway. But that's just me, I am very strict about what a game should be tagged as.
