Hi @Logrim, There's a few different ways you can accomplish what you are looking for. However, since you are using the theme creator, one solution you may want to consider is to position a black rectangle over all your elements and animate it so that it will immediately fade out after a second or two. This will give enough time for all the elements to load, and provide a nice fade transition into your text list view.

Hey @SiriusVI. Seems like you've done quite a lot to try and solve your colorful theme conundrum. Here's my 2c on how you can try and troubleshoot further. This probably works best if you can create a copy of your existing LaunchBox folder. First, you'll want to remove any LaunchBox plugins, just remove that variable altogether (all files within the LAUNCHBOX\Plugins folder). Test and see if that helps any (don't think it will but it's good to check). Then, start removing playlists from LaunchBox, one by one, and then platforms, testing in-between until you get to a point where the theme is finally functioning properly. This will, at the very least, give you some more info you can work with. Just know that the colorful theme was built using a special themer plugin, which is used to accomplish certain theming functionality. It could potentially be this plugin that's conflicting with either other plugins that you may have used (or are using) to build your particular library. I'm just not entirely sure how. Good luck. Hope this, at the very least, gives you some more insight as to your issue.

Hi @kal9000. This functionality will only work in BannerBox 2.0, which is (currently) only downloadable on the forums.

So, I just want to make sure that what you are testing for each theme is specifically the text based menu platform views, and not any of the other views. I just went through about 8 themes and none of them showed the marquee on text list platform views.

I have this feeling it's not this theme but the particular platform view that this theme uses. Check the default theme whether the marquee shows up with the text list filters view. That should confirm my suspicions.

@HappyGuy, I may be able to shed some light into why you are seeing what you are seeing. First to establish why you saw freezing: It is caused by themes created with the COMMUNITY Theme Creator that have views with a user defined video element, and was published before the current 1.0.8.99 version. Once a solution was identified, y2guru updated the creator to the new version. From there, the impacted themes would need to be re-published and uploaded to the forums/theme manager. Since I created the Retrotastic theme, I can say that I uploaded a newer version to the forums that solves the freezing issue (along with a number of other changes), but I have yet to update the version within the Big Box Themes Manager, thus you would still see the freezing issue with that version from within Big Box. However, I should have the newer version within the Theme Manager at some point this week. As far as why the Theme Manager asked you to update the theme: The Theme Manager within Big Box doesn't know what version you are using if you download a theme from the forums, thus will always ask you to download its copy instead. This is why you saw what you saw. It doesn't actually mean that the Theme Manager's version is newer, just that it recognizes that it's different. I'm curious about what you said about CoverBox. It's interesting in the sense that the theme has no current issues and was not created using the theme creator. If you do want to troubleshoot the coverbox issue, send me a PM.

Ok good. So, let's establish that we are talking about the same view here. This one right? I can tell you how it works so that you can try and deduce what the issue is on your end (Obviously this will only work on Big Box 11.10 and greater). By default, boxes are hard coded to a portrait rectangle. I've added a bunch of alternative view files for systems that I know have different size boxes. All of these files are located here: LAUNCHBOX\Themes\The POC\Views\WallGamesView\ However, in order for these files to be used, the names of the file has to match the name of the platform that you added to your own LaunchBox library. You can simply change the file names to match your systems. You can even copy/paste these files for systems you may have that are not present in this folder. It sounds like you checked and was able to determine the name of your Nintendo Game Boy platform. See if you can solve your issue based on the above info. if you can't, come back to this thread with some screenshots and some more info, and we can continue to figure out what the issue may be.

Your game boy platform needs to be named Nintendo Game Boy for the view to take effect. If it's not, you can go into the Themes\The POC\Views\WallGamesView folder and change the name of Nintendo Game Boy.xaml to whatever you have your platform called.

Few things I can add to what @Retro808 contributed. 3. This can be accomplished from within your theme's View folder by doing the following. Create a folder called GameMarqueeView. Make a copy of your GameMarqueeView.xaml folder and place it in the GameMarqueeView folder. Rename GameMarqueeView.xaml to the name of your Arcade platform. You should now have the following (assuming your arcade platform is named Arcade? [theme]\Views\GameMarqueeView\Arcade.xaml Whatever you edit within the Arcade.xaml will only apply to the Arcade platform's marquee.

Hi @kal9000. Unfortunately themes don't have the ability to tell which platforms have banners and which won't don't. I would recommend that you either create your missing banners based on the templates that I provided, or you can go to the BannerBox Community Banner thread and see if someone has already created one for the systems you are missing for: BannerBox Community Banner Thread - Page 14 - Platform Media - LaunchBox Community Forums (launchbox-app.com)

Hi @ThomasJim. Hopefully I'm understanding properly. On the horizontal box game view, you want the selected item border to be replaced with a glow (the glow is actually a drop shadow effect). Try taking this file and dropping it into the views folder of your copied theme, and let me know if it gives you the desired results. BoxListView.xaml

BannerBox 2.0 has been released with the following changes: Feature: All game views can now utilize your regular BoxArt and Clear Logo images. Custom Banners (Banner Packs) are no longer required! Note: This feature only works in LaunchBox 11.10 or higher. Note: You now need to load 4 images per game, as opposed to 1. Please keep this in mind. Feature: Game Custom Banners still work in the theme, but this is considered legacy. It is known that custom images appear more blurry than they did before. Note: No custom banners are included with this version, however they still work if placed in the same spot as before. Feature: The theme now utilizes parenting functionality, removing some user sources and reducing the amount of animations needed to pull off the same effects. Fix: Freezing caused by User Defined Videos have now been solved. Fix: Controller and Default Media file names have been adjusted. Additions: More platform banners have been included with the theme.

Been a while but finally had a few hours to post a video talking a bit about the Big Box changes that came with LaunchBox version 11.10 through the lens of a Big Box theme developer. Hope this may inspire someone to get into Big Box theme development and create something great.

This is true. I asked the theme and it didn't really seem to want to work with other languages. However, after some considerable talking to, I think it has now agreed to work with other languages. You'll just need to download the new version. Try it out, let me know if it is indeed cooperating.

You would definitely have to make a special version to better utilize that screen size. I don't actually have a screen that size to use, but you could definitely make better use of the space.
