Retro Faeran's Theme Stream - Big Box Theme Creation
Retro808 replied to faeran's topic in Custom Theme Tutorials

You cannot set emulator items by Platform Category in LB only by Platform or by Game. If you edit a game you can add a custom command line parameter to have that game run a specific core.
-
He means messing with the Startup theme setting in LB. Go to >Tools>Manage emulators and edit CXBX. In the Startup tab turn of startup themes and see if the issue goes away. If it does you now know it is LB Startups causing the issue. You can then turn it back on and tweak the settings in it to see if you can find a setting that will not cause the issue.
-
In BigBox settings: >Options>General then you will see the option for "Remember last game for each platform"
-
If you remove/delete an imported rom and do not delete the media you downloaded, when you reimport the rom LB will attach the existing media to it.
-
My recommendation than would be import your roms without scraping for media. That way you can quickly see if anything was missed. Then go back and download that media. Plenty of users import full roms sets for many systems with many versions of the same rom. Nothing wrong with that. Since media downloads is timely for you I would do as I mentioned and import rom first without media. I have many games that I keep several versions of the same rom for.
-
Combine Roms does not combine new imports with an existing import. It works only when you are importing them at the same time. You will have to import the other roms and check the force duplicate option. Then when they get imported select all the matching roms and combine them. LB will give you an option to choose the default.

It does. I was just confirming what you posted. However, that did catch me off guard that while in a theme if I made a change using mapped key/button it automatically made it theme specific. A prompt to apply to theme specific would be nice. I typically make changes with mapped keys and usually do this when helping in the forum so I will know to delete the xml file or just put the setting back before I close out BigBox. Now that I know though it is not that big an issue.
-
Ahhh. That was indeed it. Changing a theme's view in the settings menu did not generate a BigBoxSettingsOverride.xaml. Using a mapped key/button did generate it. So good to know.

Thanks Jason for checking on your end. All the themes I tested I do not have any theme specific settings for. So not sure why I am seeing what I described. I will test on a clean build and see if it happens.

@Jason Carr A quick test on the new beta and I notice that changing the current theme in theme in the Global settings (so not the theme specific options) is not working correctly. Example in Games View: If you change the view type for Game List View in the menu it does not change it in the actual view. So lets say I currently have Vertical Wheel 1. If I change to Text List directly in the settings and then go to the games view it is still visually in Vertical 1. If I use my key to change the view live to Text View it does indeed change it. However, go back into the settings and the listed setting still reflects Vertical 1 it does not now reflect Text List. This also appears to be affecting platform views as well. Although in the settings if you change the platform view it doe change it. If you are in the live view and change the platform to a different view. The change does not get reflected in the settings. Hope I explained that coherently. I tested with Critical Zone, Chrome Metal, Unified Redux, Colorful Dark and Default.

32bit version was supported up until recently. I do not believe it is going to be brought back since 32bit OS is pretty aged. You can email support@unbrokensoftware.com and explain you situation. They should be able to provide you with an older version that still supported 32bit.

Our DB does not house manuals. That media gets pulled form EmuMovies. If you ever do want to submit images to our DB you need to register with the GamesDB site and the option to upload images is on the site. https://gamesdb.launchbox-app.com/account/signin?returnurl=%2fgames%2fadd

Yeah I am not sure about 2000 games in a couple minutes. I have pretty decent speed here and 2000 games depending on how much media I am selecting (box, 3d box, marquee, banner, screen shots, videos, etc...) is definitely going to take more than a couple minutes. Maybe if I were only downloading a couple image types per game. Even then still could take a bit depending on file sizes. Someone saying their rate is "very fast" does not really mean much. Very fast compared to what?

LB is going to require some updated dependancies especially if you are using the latest version. That Win 7 pc is likely going to need them. So that might be an issue if it is not connected to the internet. Also if you are running 32bit Win 7 LB no longer supports 32bit.
-
Before you worry about adding anything into LB set up Mame first. Make sure your games run and that your controls are set. Then set up your LB//BB. This way if your games do not run from inside LB/BB we know to eliminate the emulator when troubleshooting.
-
You can set it to longer than 5 seconds if you do it in the Manage Emulator screen. >Tools>Manage Emulators then edit your TeknoParrot. On the Startup tab the slide bar there can extend out to 30 seconds.
-
If you moved your games into the LB folder structure (or anywhere else for that matter) you can use the change rom path function built into LB UI. You need to do it on a per platform basis. Select all the games for the platform then: >Tools>Change Rom Path for selected games.

Take a look in this thread and see if the fix there helps you.
-
Your system is probably timing out. If you are downloading a lot of media at once I would try unchecking the box for "Remove roughly-matched media" as that adds to the processing time when downloading lots of media.

SameBoy RA core not appearing as an option.
Retro808 replied to WraithTDK's topic in Troubleshooting
Just downloaded that core and it shows in LB. Try going to the bottom of your list of Associated Platforms and adding Game Boy there and see if sameboy_libretro pops up when using a new cell. -
Does it keep adding the same games or different games? Can you post a pic of the files inside your \Launchbox\Data folder? Make sure we can see all the files.

If I understand what I was told this option will get called before running any raw executable for any game that does not have say a GOG id or Steam ID assigned to it. So if it as imported using one of the 3rd party launcher import features the Windows AHK tool will not be called. So using the drag and drop would work as you tested.
-
EDITED: I did just confirm that the option you are trying to use does not call the AHK script when it is Windows games imported via the third party launcher options (Steam, GOG, etc.).
-
All the games in your Windows platform did you install them using the >Tools>Import>Import Windows Games option or are these just pc games you added the .exe or shortcut link manually? I have never used that Edit AHK Script for Windows Games option, but I am thinking maybe that option is only for games imported using the Import Windows Games since LB detects them as such. I could be wrong, but I doubt it has anything to do with the platform name of "Windows" since you can call the platform name anything you want and still have Windows games in it. I will check with Jason.
