Grila Posted September 12, 2017 Posted September 12, 2017 I'm currently working on a very lightweight theme for the GPDWin device. This one is pretty simple to help maximize performance because of the Atom processor and because of the limited storage space available. Because of this, the theme only utilizes screenshots and clear logo's. My premise on this is to have it preform well and be easy to read on the small screen while still looking classy. Since I don't actually have one of these devices to test this out on, I am also looking for a guinea pig or two that to help me test the performance out on the actual device (@Jason Carr I know you have one, but you're probably too busy to help). Anyways, here's a couple shot of the game select screen... 1 2
neil9000 Posted September 12, 2017 Posted September 12, 2017 While i don't have a gpd win, i do have a atom x5 8 inch tablet with a 1280x800 resolution and only 2gb of ram. If that is of any help to you? 1
damageinc86 Posted September 12, 2017 Posted September 12, 2017 I wouldn't like such dark vignetting on these, I'd rather have full brightness on a small screen to help see it better 1
Jason Carr Posted September 12, 2017 Posted September 12, 2017 Awesome @Grila. I'm more than happy to test things out. 1

I'll comment it out as default but leave it there for anyone who wishes to utilize it. Thanks for the input, appreciated

I did something similar with vikings big couch theme. I just took the views I liked and reversed the colors, offering both day and night views. 1

(in other words instead of the gameplay screen shot have it be the box cover art). Keep up the great work its looking amazing

That will force Launcbox/Bigbox to show the front box instead of the gameplay image. This works for all image priorities. 1

Cookz718 Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 @Grila what would also be a nice touch (if you want) to put the ESRB rating on the bottom as well if you'd like.

More data to search for will slow the theme down i believe, i'm not a theme creator so i'm not 100%. The whole idea of this theme is to make it as lightweight as possible so as to run on very low powered devices. I'm of the understanding that the more data/images and such you want to retrieve from the xml's the more processing needs to be done to retrieve said info. But i'm sure grila will correct me if i'm wrong, he's not shy about that.

tribe fan Posted October 29, 2017 Posted October 29, 2017 Really excited about this! I own a GPD WIN and am currently using modern mini which works pretty well, but a dedicated theme that aims to squeeze as much performance as possible out of that atom processor would be awesome.
Mithrot Posted November 7, 2017 Posted November 7, 2017 I own a GPD Win and I'll be keeping an eye on this release.
Grila Posted November 8, 2017 Author Posted November 8, 2017 Went back to work on this and re-designed the grid for reasons that can't be seen visually, but needed done for how things get laid out. Basically I started over from scratch. Here's some progress...not much today because I spent WAY too much time making some new platform banners specifically for the theme (so far I have 7 done). I'll attach those here as well just for S&G. The controller images are from the Mac front-end OpenEmu. Screenies Banners 3
