LaunchBox 13.18 - Beta Thread

This was the media download page.  I canceled out at point.

 

In the single rom workflow - You choose folder(s), then next page you associate a platform. 

for multiple, I was expecting you'd choose folder(s), then the next page you'd have a grid with the folders (or individual files), a drop down for each to associate a platform, and then a third drop down option for "scrape as"

There's your issue. You need to select your root folder, not platform folders.

So, if your path is:

g:\Games\[platforms]

Choose:

g:\Games\

Next page will list all your platforms under the Games folder.

Think there might be something up with the "tools/scan for added (platform name) roms" feature with the current beta. There are a bunch of new roms in the NES folder; I do the scan, it says "searching for additional roms" - this seems to take quite a long time - around 2 minutes or so. I then get the "import ROMs from files wizard", asking me if I'd like to download metadata for my games. To me this suggests that it has found some new roms - otherwise it would say no new roms found. So I go ahead and select the media I want, and on the next screen tick "force importing duplicate games". On the "ready to import" window however there are 0 games. I click finish and it doesn't seem to import any.

We've confirmed there is an issue with the import wizard and are able to reproduce what you're describing. The team are looking into this now.

If you just want a fixed column size it's pretty easy to alter that in the theme XAML. Something like that is so subjective to each individual user we'd never be able to make everyone happy. We have the theming engine to allow for really minute granular changes like that so at least users have a possible way of changing things that a global setting would be hard to enforce/implement.

Nice you mention it can be altered, although I have no clue on what and how to do, I have found some xaml files, but dont know which is right, and what to edit. Have no experience like that.

\\LaunchBox\LBThemes\{YourTheme}\Views\ListContentView.xaml. There is a a datagrid in most of them that displays the items (often CALLED Items). In those columns you see add a Width by adding the following:
Width="100"
(set 100 to whatever you value you actually want)

Where is the changelog on the "website", other than when you add it here? 

I always check it before updating to new beta, had way to many past issues and it is getting so big with all the cache now it takes a lot of HHD space to make a bunch of copies. I looked in the News / Changelog section and see nothing about the beta's :(

Each beta, this changelog gets updated to include everything within that beta at that given time. You can also just wait for me to update this post as well, but the changelog will update first. After a beta goes live, I run a bunch of live tests which take time, before I update the beta post.

Seems like an appropriate place for it.

We've always talked about it internally, but it really comes down to how much work do we want to siphon out of actual features to work on a revamp of the welcome screen. At some point you'll probably see it change, but up until now it just hasn't been high on the priority list.

In saying that, if you click on the box that shows a highlight of the features, it brings you to the changelog on the website.

Feature flag it. 

If beta version flag = true; show change log

else = show new features

Hi folks.
I'm on 13.18 official and seeing an issue with uninstalling the BigPEmu LaunchBox Integration plugin.
This plugin has an active Uninstall box which, when clicked, tells me the uninstall is pending and I need to close the Plugins Manager to proceed.
Closing this then shows a popup box telling me LaunchBox needs to close to complete the uninstall.
LaunchBox then closes and restarts, but the plugin is still shown as installed with it's Uninstall box available to click on again.
Am I seeing a bug in the software?

Potentially so. If you could since the full release is out submit an official bug report so it doesn't get lost in the shuffle, especially given that holidays are around the corner.

Yes, the issue is actually that the uninstall button is not grayed out (it should be), as all official plugins cannot be uninstalled.

This should now be fixed.

Hi.

With beta 4, in playlists ordered by series, the games with text in "series" field don't show icons for achievement, savestate or savegames. When you select a game with that data, the icons appears. I think some of the previous betas didn't cause this tiny problem.

By the way, thanks for the changes in GOG import. It greatly simplifies the work for those of us who are users of this store.

I just updated to the latest version. Previously for PC games I would drag and drop them into my windows pc games folder and it would launch with no problems. Now when I try to to launch a new pc game added it says there is no associated  emulator even though its an .exe?

Edit** Figured out emulator is now automatically checked so I have to go in and now manually uncheck emulator. Defiantly easier to just drag and drop like before??

One last thing to mention with regards to this beta. The multi-disc issue m3u issue was fixed earlier in the cycle (thank you for that), but I did notice that when you try to import a single game on system using RA, it'll ask you for the core for that import as well. However, if that game's selected core doesn't match the system's default emulator, it just defaults to the default emu. Seems to ignore that selection for the import
