But are they going to remove VLC player forever? I had a lot of videos perfectly edited for Colorful and VLC.
At the moment, VLC keeps freezing for me. But I'm writing more because I recently had problems with the k-lite pack and I'd like to share it here:
A few months ago, after updating PotPlayer (I used it for desktop), my computer would restart by itself when I opened a video. It didn't happen all the time, but it did happen when I started opening the video. I uninstalled PotPlayer and the k-lite codecs, and I no longer had that Windows restart problem. But a week ago, I started playing Silent Hill Arcade by teknoparrot, and it would crash at startup. Then I remembered that that game required the k-lite codecs to work (damn it).
Anyway, I downloaded the updated ones from their website and installed them. To my surprise, the next day my PC restarted while I was using the BigBox. Well, I uninstalled K-Lite again, and it stopped happening. It's very strange, and I can't find much information out there in case the same thing happens to someone else.

If you haven't already make sure you're on the latest update for your operating system and your video card drivers are up to date. I've heard of bad GPU interactions causing things like that to happen in the past.

I don't know if you're talking about VLC or the K-lite codecs.
I've got everything updated. Nvidia GPU and Windows 10.
Otherwise, yesterday I tried it on my main computer (Windows 11) and BigBox also crashes with VLC.
I recorded a sample from the secondary computer (Windows 10, i7-6700k, 32GB RAM, 2060 Super)
showing how it crashes as soon as I switch to VLC. This never happens with WMP.
At least I managed to change the COLORFUL theme so the colors display correctly, regardless of the player I'm using.
I don't want to bother you too much since I know people talk about issues with beta versions here.
I was going to download it, but when I saw that it didn't have VLC,
I skipped it, since that's all I was interested in until now. Cheers.

Note: At 1:50 you can see what happens when you switch to VLC.

So, not sure about anyone else but I consider it a major downgrade to have to install a third-party codec pack that contains who-knows-what in it just to keep using BigBox with videos. Is that actually going to be necessary? Also I'm sure this is nothing new to the team but what about this: https://github.com/videolan/libvlcsharp. It does say it supports wpf forms but I know all of nothing of programming and I'm sure it's more complicated than a simple google search, so feel free to ignore me.

EDIT: I just went back to 13.20 and confirmed that for me VLC is working perfectly fine with no performance issues, so the perceived disturbance of a perfectly working system is pretty annoying IMO.

I can confirm it as absolutely zero to do with updated drivers.......... This passing 'the buck' needs to stop!  image.thumb.png.928ca2b4053603cc33f4ed5fc2a7024f.png

No one is "passing the buck". I get an application not working can be frustrating but you making false accusations isn't going to help your cause. I asked because I know my Intel/Nvidia set up has had issues with bad Direct X calls crashing the machine and drivers corrected it on that device. I was offering assistance on things you can verify that may help the situation (and has mine in the past) until you get any additional response/builds from any of the staff.

Like many other things it has been part of long outstanding issues and yet you push update after update with proper internal testing .......... The last update should never have been released you knew it was still in a terrible state yet you went ahead with it anyway (Are the dev's paid to release updates in a monthly time line?)

The twitch streams are proving that at times the work load is beyond some of your dev's pay check!

You are contributing nothing except stirring the pot and causing friction between users and the development staff.

Here we go again hence why no one wants to put anything on here, If you don't like a point of view that's your issue.........

You trying to tell me others have not confirmed VLC is a complete mess with big box etc?

People are paying good money to use big box so it's an issue that needs to be addressed A.S.A.P!

Is this why you ban ANYONE who speaks not in your favour for example youtube?

Grow Up... The Devs do Great Work here. At least it is updated on a Regular Bases, unlike a Lot of front ends out there

They cannot please everybody at the same time, some people will be upset with the way things are going, but in the End, these problems will be sorted.

At the end of the day, if you are not happy, try something else.........
