Well this looks amazing... wasn't there an old theme or concept theme shown at some point doing this..

not that it matters just feels oddly familiar.. by doing this i mean the banner style art.

Thank you for including a template to make our own banners!  So many creators don't furnish users with templates to make it easier to add oddball systems, or custom named systems.  Thank you again.

Now trying to use the template, but I don't know the setting for the enlarged box art with blur layer.

I noticed all the individual game banner file names are numbers.  So if we have to make our own banners for some games (homebrew/hacks) how do we know what number to use? - Edit:  It's the LB database number.

After running through it for a while I'm now wondering if there is a way to edit the transitions to be quicker and snappier.  Basically to have every transition after you land on a game to happen quicker.  Also is there a way to have a default blank banner for games that don't have a proper banner?  Or do we have to make one for each game we find that is missing one?

The template I added to the downloads allows you to generate banners for your whole collection with one click. I will be streaming something this week which will show you how its done.

It's a great concept; however, it would have been easier to use existing art.

Execution: 2/10

You are right, using existing art would be great. Unfortunately, Big Box doesn't have the ability to utilize existing artwork in this way.

Ok, cuz I brought all the assets into photoshop and was trying to make a few.  one-click would definitely be awesome.  Got it pretty close with gaussian blur 5.0

Looks awesome @faeran! I am having an issue and don't know if it is me who is doing something wrong (or I am missing a step). When I load the theme into a platform (i.e. NES), I do not get the images in the view:

In one of the views I do however get the content:

Any info you could provide will be highly appreciated :)

Absolutely amazing theme, a real stunner! However, there is one thing I'm having issue with atm and that's the time it takes to display game info. Is there anyway to speed it up?

I am missing about 50 banners between NES and SNES.  Don't know if I really want to go through all that to make them one by one.  Just taking a look through N64, already have like 10 missing from that.

EDIT:  Seems as though I have to refresh all those games' metadata so launchbox looks up their Database ID so that the theme will show the image for the game.  Well for some anyways,...some are still completely missing from the artwork folder (Adventures of lolo DB: 328 for example).

At some point I can create another view with quick, or just less animation going on. Then you could choose which view you want to use.

If I had to guess, you may not be running the latest version of LaunchBox. It will require at least version 10.12

Exactly, top part is the 2D Box Art and the lower is the same blue background with game Logo - this way the banner is auto generated via your theme and not downloaded in packs or so...

never the less, great theme

I am running 10.13.

Maybe I need to force image cache. Will give it a shot later on.

An Amazing Job!!

I have  question..... could be possible that we no need to make custom banner´s for this?... i explain myself, you could make the theme recognize the front box and clear logos we have in our launchbox, instead of pre renderized images??. it would be awesome too.

Regards....

Response from the author:

Thanks @MasterGuevara10.

The answer to your question is, not really... The wheel in Big Box cannot call more than 1 image for a selected game, so there would be no way to have this banner effect without making custom images.

Something similar could be created that only uses your boxart, but it would definitely provide less of a banner flow type of feel.

Did you find this review helpful?     Yes  No

@Jason Carr is there a way to fix this ?

That would be amazing, I actually really like the animation... just wish it would start a lot sooner. I'll certainly be keeping an eye out for that release. ;)

Amazing theme!

I've noticed the template for the community theme creator to create the banners. Is there also a template for the theme itself?

Best regards,

Yeah. It's visually mindblowing, especially if you're using BigBox with TV, but it would just add more assets used solely for this theme.
