Thank you so much @dukeemu. I will get the updated files into a beta and look into those issues as well. Sorry for the delays. @flores9, that might be somewhat of a pain to do so I'll have to do some research to see how difficult it would be to allow both. How much is really different between the two versions?

Most likely it happened during metadata updates in the wizard. I recently changed this functionality, but previously metadata updates were overwriting platform names. We changed the default platform from PC to Windows at one point. Bulk edit should it if you change the platform for all the PC games to Windows. What do you mean by Bulk Edit isn't fixing it?
-
@flores9 I'll need more details in order to look into that background image issue. Check the image priorities options in the LaunchBox settings.
-
Potentially, yes @viking. That does make sense. I'm still open to including themes with Big Box, but yes, I agree that it probably isn't best to include a tribute theme by default.

Hi @suislide, thanks for the purchase and sorry for the delays. I just re-sent your license again; let me know if you still don't receive it. Feel free to email me directly at jason@unbrokensoftware.com and we'll make sure you're all hooked up.

Hi all, there's a lot of speculation going on here, so I thought I'd clarify a few things: - CPU *is* most definitely a bottleneck for much of what LaunchBox is doing, especially when switching between platforms, searching through the collection, etc. It may not appear that way to you because of the nature of multi-core CPUs, but the biggest bottleneck when switching between platforms is definitely CPU. The faster your CPU, the faster LaunchBox will run. - Collection size *does* matter tremendously because the larger your collection, the more CPU time it takes to search through all the games. The reason why @Imgema's test had the same results was simply because the disk was not at all the bottleneck in that scenario. The CPU is the bottleneck. - Disk speed *does* matter tremendously as well, but primarily during loading the app and populating images. Since @Imgema tested completely without images, the disk speed requirements were basically taken completely out of the picture.

Makes sense. Thanks @UP_AND_ATOM.

Sounds good, Kris. There's no other threads currently but feel free to start one and we can discuss.
-
Thanks @cammelspit. For some things like the featuring stuff, yeah, it's best just to shrug it off. But there might still be some ways to improve it without affecting its accuracy. In order to avoid false positives, I do lean towards the safe side for mass imports.
-
Hi Kris, good to hear from you! I'm not sure the answers to those questions are simple, but I'll do my best. If you create a new platform file and put it in the right folder, LaunchBox should automatically pick up those games on startup, yes. Each game will continue to have a unique identifier; the actual structure of the XML has not changed (and won't likely change much further per current plans). That said, I can be convinced if you have ideas to improve things.

Resolved - Game stuck in moderation queue - Issue #145
Jason Carr replied to Rick1974's topic in Troubleshooting
Thanks @spycat. Once again my apologies for the delays with these Games Database issues. I'm going to do my best to tackle them tomorrow. -
Thanks @DR9. The Big Box search is global, unless you're inside of a platform or filter, and then it only searches those games. If you want to search globally, just exit out to the platforms list.

It's actually pretty easy to mess up with an arcade joystick, and I don't think a timer would really solve the issue. It's the same problem that happens regularly when trying to scroll through games and accidentally jumping letters instead. I can understand the annoyance of having to loop through the options, but honestly, it's just options so you won't need to be in there often and I'd rather err on the side of caution than ease.

FYI, this issue has been fixed with the latest beta.
-
Looks awesome @viking. Of course I still need to add all of those features. The first two should be relatively easy, but the third isn't likely to be possible due to the way the transition engine works. The only way to fix it, unfortunately, is to restructure the XAML. You basically have to make the item that is transitioning fill the screen in order to get it to slide properly.
-
Thanks @flores9, I got your second email and managed to figure out the issues and get them fixed. Much appreciated. Let me know if you are still seeing any issues with the latest beta.
-
Probably not for the next few releases as I have to prioritize the most popular requests. How is it relevant to the theme?
-
Thanks, @ckp, I get it now. I didn't know you were referring to the Options thing. The various views in Big Box are being reconstructed when leaving options because of possible changes. There's certainly plenty I can do to clean this up yet, but that in particular has not been addressed; I expect that's what's going on. The saving should be going on in the background now but if you're still seeing delays that's probably not the issue. To be honest it's not the highest of priorities but I will review it again here at some point. I actually just fixed that error above as well in beta 4.

Another new beta is out guys that finally (hopefully) fixes the crashes on startup that some people were seeing due to dividing up the XML files. Duplicates were occurring in some cases and causing issues. Deleting games was also sometimes not working and that has been fixed as well.
-
Great to hear, guys. @shinra358, glad it's improved at least. I'll try experimenting with some different themes to see if I can replicate any of those remaining issues. We had previously removed the functionality to change the settings via left/right because it was too easy to accidentally change the settings, so I think we're gonna stick with the enter functionality only. I had thought about custom themes and sound packs; I'd rather not have it all mixed up though, so hopefully we can just distribute them together with instructions to put them in the right places. @ALIE Themes will indeed be getting their own settings, but unfortunately that's not going to happen immediately. It's a challenge because we don't want users to have any nasty surprises ("WHY ARE ALL MY SETTINGS CHANGED!?!?!"). So we'll need a way to restore settings and such which is kind of a pain.
-
Unfortunately not at the moment. That is a good idea though.
-
@flores9 Sadly I still haven't gotten the second email. Hit me up when you can so we can get this fixed. Thanks!

Okay guys, new beta is out with some fun new stuff: - New Premium Feature: Big Box now has separate volume controls for videos, music, startup, navigate, select, back, and attract mode navigate; volumes are available under Options > Sound in Big Box. - New Premium Feature: Big Box now supports proper sound packs! The LaunchBox\Sounds subfolder now contains folders for different sound packs and you can switch between them under Options > Sound in Big Box. Big thanks to Clavius for all the new sound packs. - Improvement: LaunchBox and Big Box startup time has been significantly reduced by delay loading certain metadata items I'm hoping this also fixes voice recognition on UK systems as previously discussed, though it will require installing US language and speech packs. If we're lucky it will also fix @shinra358's wheel skipping bug, but unfortunately I still have not been able to reproduce it so I can't say for sure.

Gotcha; great to hear.
