Sorry guys, I indeed botched the Attract Mode for beta 5. I'm currently uploading beta 6 with the fix.
-
David, I am aware of that issue and it is on our plate to resolve. It is not an issue that is specific to this theme. My suggestion would be to use WMP until we can get it resolved.

That is indeed a great idea, @DOS76. That would be awesome to have all the versions at your fingertips. I hate to ask, but can you add a ticket? @DJQuad, I see now. Yeah, I'm not sure there's going to be a good solution for that really. You could modify either the Metadata.xml or Lightspeed's data files but that would be quite a chore.

Open - Better compression for Images - Issue #352
Jason Carr replied to Thordelan's topic in Features
Gotcha, no worries @Thordelan. Sorry to rain on your parade. It does make sense about compressed, smaller versions. -
Hi @nosh, just put out a new beta that should help a lot for tweaking the FlowControl. I also added a bunch of related documentation to the PDF file. I'll take a look at the blur thing and the transition for the image and see if I can come up with a solution. It might be a couple days though, unfortunately, but I'll put it at the top of my list.

Hi DJ, try using the lightspeed importer, as it will give you more control:

Open - Better compression for Images - Issue #352
Jason Carr replied to Thordelan's topic in Features
Hi @Thordelan, to be honest I believe we should be valuing quality over disk space with the LaunchBox Games Database. Even if it *appears* that there is no quality loss when recompressing images, there always is. I prefer that we not recompress existing images in the LaunchBox Games Database for this reason. These days both hard drive space and bandwidth are plentiful, so I would prefer to keep as large of images as possible, in their original form. In the future we could provide an option to download compressed images, but I would not want to alter the originals. -
Alright, another new beta is out that again focuses on custom themes. I think we should be in a good spot now with the custom themes for a while. I added a bunch more options to the FlowControl for CoverFlow and wheel variations, as well as added related documentation to the new themes documentation PDF file. It should be neat to see what people can do with the wheels now. I also fixed the issue where up and down was being used to navigate with the horizontal wheel. That's it for now; I think we may end up working on the LaunchBox Games Database again tomorrow in the development live stream.

I think I see what you're saying, or at least I have an idea. We could make the first image always skip the _01, which would probably improve things. Is that what you mean?
-
Yeah, honestly I don't know how to solve that one. You probably know as much as I do on that subject. A transparent PNG would probably get you close but yeah, won't get you the full blurring effect.
-
@wallmachine Are you still seeing this 500 errors? I think we might have occasional issues with background processes.

Dude!!! Wow, that looks really awesome. So much fun.

How do i select a different core for a specific mame game
Jason Carr replied to dalehitchy's topic in Troubleshooting
Hi @dalehitchy, MAME can be very tricky. Your best bet is to find a complete set of MAME ROMs that works with the latest versions of MAME. -
Thank you @slashguns04. Will review. @higan I think this might have started happening recently.

Hi @Scanno, you can use Additional Applications to do different things via the right-click menu in LaunchBox, or the game details menu in Big Box, which allows you to run multiple different things per game. However, I'm not sure of a way to change the fullscreen settings that way. It would depend on the emulator and the emulator would have to support changing the fullscreen setting via the command line. So unfortunately it wouldn't really be easy to do, and probably isn't possible for everything.
-
Ah, good point lol. I'll take a look at that. I'm going to add some more features to the wheel today to allow for some more customization as well.
-
Hi @Styphelus, I'm planning to add a media audit feature but unfortunately that's not there yet. Currently there's no good way to do this, sadly.
-
@ThePolish Not currently, but that would indeed be a good idea.
-
Hi guys, I'm working on allowing you to better customize the images in the wheels; that is coming. Also, if you haven't checked out the latest beta from yesterday there is a new Documentation.pdf file in the LaunchBox\Themes folder that should *really* help.
-
Hi @SilverChin, that is a good idea; can you add a ticket for that using Issues/Requests in the header? Currently you can hide games from Big Box just by marking them "hidden" in LaunchBox, but then they would always be hidden.
-
Hi @smallsbig, yes, this is currently a pain point when using the same image folders for various frontends. LaunchBox shouldn't rename any existing files you have, but if you download additional media, it will use its own naming convention. There's not really a good way around this since LaunchBox supports so much more images than most other frontends.
-
Wow, I believe you're the first to ask, @Bonoscot. Yes, a theme would need to be developed for 21:9 monitors.
-
I'm guessing it's a DirectX issue, if it's related to sound, but that is certainly an odd issue. I can get you the 6.7 version but I would be very surprised if that solved the issue. https://www.dropbox.com/s/b8f9j42owjbjitz/LaunchBox-6.7-Setup.exe?dl=0 You should be able to download that and just install over top of your existing installation. Do make a backup though just in case because it's an odd scenario to downgrade. Let me know if that solves it, but honestly I don't expect that it will.
-
That is correct. Unfortunately it's currently not possible to replace the startup image. There is an intro video ticket on BitBucket to vote on though.
-
Hi bran, sadly this isn't possible as of yet, sans for doing it manually (which sucks I know). We still have some work to do in that department.
