  1. I would try updating all of your drivers first, and see if that could be it. Use IOBits Driver Booster and let it update your drivers.
  2. You owning the software doesn't mean you can redistribute it though.
  3. I don't know German, but I am just passing on this reported error:
  4. We do have videos for almost everything: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL6pTDaHeAz-WMcNURVPU-1xLN_TVpT3FB
  5. If you delete a system it will ask you if you want to remove all the games associated to the platform, and you can click on a game then Ctrl + A to highlight everything (select a platform first).

    Dual screen!

In Big Box there are second screen options that can interact and show certain things. I recall dynamic marquees being one of them, but I haven't used it and it's been a while since anyone talked about it.
  7. If you're still downloading a ton of images, then it could still be easily caching. You can check the performance monitor and see if there are cpu and hard drive tasks for LaunchBox images when you scroll through, but you'll notice when it's caching. If you select a bunch of games and press F5 (which is refresh), you can observe what the caching behavior looks like. Like I said, I never want to rule out the possibility of bugs, and there's always more performance to be gained with updates from Jason, but I want to make sure we figure out what else it could be.
  8. I'll pass this translation note on to Jason for you. Otherwise, at least for the background image, go to Tools -> Options then Default Background on the left. I've personally set this to use my wallpaper, but you can set it to a specific image. Then, once you have it set to what you want (though you can also use the default background), go up a few options to Background Priorities and uncheck all of the boxes here, or check for just the ones you want. Image Priorities is a premium feature though. To your library performance, you do have a really large library, and while we're not certain it's a bug or users computers, we do know it's an issue that keeps cropping up. Turning some things off can speed it up a bit. Making sure LaunchBox isn't caching (and with a 40k library that COULD take a while), Less images to load will help (so editing image priorities for the background could help), and less information in the game details bar (even if you don't use it, that could potentially help as less info needs to be loaded on demand). Turning off auto-playing music and video can help too, and potentially disabling the controller support for LB. It's really hard to nail it down to one specific thing, so if you do those settings individually and performance increases let me know. I am surprised you don't have performance issues in Big Box though... that is surprising. Did your Big Box finish caching by chance?
  9. Did you happen to watch the tutorial yet?
  10. To be honest, I just misread what you said. I read about swapping and just got off on a tangent in my head. I also wasn't trying to say you were wrong, I just misread the conversation, I'm sorry.
  11. Well, save stating and then save state loading works well in this situation still too. I tested it during a tutorial to show it off, so having those Disk's ready to go at a right click's notice is still a good idea. In this case though, I think @shufflemoomin was having issues scraping the database because Disk 1, Side 1 etc wasn't in brackets, and thus in the name and not ignored.
  12. Selecting the platform isn't the only thing that makes them work. Making sure you have all the mame files, your mame version matches your rom set, running through the MAME Importer, and making sure to set your emulator properly. The tutorials will help.
  13. I assume all the check boxes are check during import or during the metadata and media scrape? That's really weird...
  14. Yea, RetroArch is picky, but it tends to be the better solution.
  15. That's why I created the survey: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/11DyyPP2wgGXWK8QXiFK3TcAK_SNtuyUCml7Q-nZPdNQ/edit?c=0&w=1 One thing I tend to notice a lot with lagging systems though, is the K variant of CPU's @Jason Carr. I remember seeing that a lot on threads and comments when people post their specs.
  16. Just replace the old MAME rom set that I used in this tutorial with the one you have, or a new .182 non-merged rom set. The Lightspeed stuff is also outdated now unfortunately. Also, you can add any platform or emulator you want, LaunchBox doesn't care. However, if you choose a non-default platform name, make sure to set the scrape as, so that metadata and media can be downloaded from the LaunchBox Games Database and EmuMovies.
  17. You're welcome. I'm sorry I didn't have a concrete solution, when it comes to download speeds and connections, unless our server is actively giving errors and shutting out people, there's almost nothing we can do about it. I wish we could yell at Internet Service Providers more.
  18. Well, if you have a 3.7Ghz Dual core vs a 2.9Ghz quad core with hyperthreading (can't remember if this i5 does?), then yea, it's a bit tougher to say. Was their 600 and 800 series released at different times? Like generations? Did the 800 series come out way later? It could be like a GPU thing too, where the die size shrunk, or they tweaked their tech or something. Even level i7's tend to be better. They cost more because they cram more in them.
  19. That's really weird. I wonder if the -c command changed?
  20. Upgrading split, I still can't explain why a fresh split set was so broken.
  21. Yea, non-merged includes everything. Split should still too, I think it was an error with split, but I honestly don't know. It could be a screw up, or it could be how split is done now.
  22. Make sure the Side 1 and Side 2 are in brackets so that they're ignored when imported (I assume that's what you mean when they're not getting box art). Also, the Commodore 64 doesn't have much in the way of box art on the Database, there is still a lot missing. It's being added to, but it's still lacking sadly. You can use the Addition Apps feature when editing a game to combine them, but you have to do it manually. Side 1, Side 2 etc verbiage hasn't been added to the auto-combine rules when importing.
  23. Yea, it seemed odd they had 3 variants running at once, the i5 was an in betweener on a lot of stuff for quite while. It bounced back and forth. There is a difference from i5's and i7's now, but it's a lot smaller than it used to be. In terms of the i5 vs i7, if the price is not much different, there's no reason not to go for the i7, the entire system will benefit including LaunchBox.
  24. An i7 generally runs faster even if the clock speed is technically lower than an i5, especially a later revision. It's not just about raw clock speed, but tons of factors. If price isn't much of a factor, I would just go with the best i7 you can grab and not look back. I don't think MAME utilizes more than one core, so either way this next stat is mostly pointless, but i5's early on, some didn't come with Hyperthreading or it was very poor, where the i7's did. So it wont provide you a boost per-se to emulation, but your OS and LaunchBox will benefit. Equivilent i5's and i7's (two that were released at the same time), with an i7 being technically slower in raw speed can usually be more performant than an equivilent i5 that may have a higher clock speed. If any of that makes sense.
