  1. So I just spent a fair few hours over the past day or so going through the Nintendo Entertainment System section, submitting change of platform requests for any games that I knew were Japan-only. I apologize in advance if I missed any, or if any Famicom games should have gone to Famicom Disk System instead, I just wanted to make sure it was all done as quickly as possible to avoid any further confusion. Sorry to the moderators who have to wade through a constant stream of change-of-platform requests...I know it'd annoy me a little.
  2. I'd say accept it, keep an eye on it, and then edit the plot later if it's been successfully added to the database.
  3. I followed this guide, and it's worked just fine.
  4. Jason Carr said Hi guys, eventually we will be accepting hacks, but for now unfortunately I think we need to just decline the game. Eventually I want to add a Hack or similar field to games along with user options to either hide or show them. For now, though, I think it's best if we don't accept hacks. I agree @moppedz about rejecting complete contributions. Eventually I'd like to add in functionality to help with that, such as suggesting fixes. So that's coming eventually. :) Should we flag existing hacks for deletion, or just let them be?
  5. lordmonkus said Well you know what you need to do then ;) Re-sell it on eBay and let the cycle continue?
  6. SentaiBrad said Well I would say no right now, we're gonna probably split the Database up a bit more to add Win 3.x and Win 9.x systems. As far as it being a game? I guess it qualifies. Cool, thanks for the response! Will we be able to submit a change of platforms for the Win 3.1 games currently in the database when that rolls out, or will it continue to be manually add/delete as necessary?
  7. Don't know if this is related, but I'm getting several New Game Submissions in a row, all of which are duplicates of existing entries. EXACT duplicates. Might be unrelated, but just odd timing if so.
  8. alexis524 said Cadet Stimpy said FWIW, I don't have a Facebook account, and I'm keeping it that way. Same here, so you're not alone. Never felt the need for it personally. I only want to be kept in touch with so much. Anyone that needs to reach me has my cell/email. Not knocking it by any means it's just my personal preference is all Same here. I used to have one, but then I realized I was only using it because I felt obligated to, and I'll be damned if I'm going to let a corporation guilt me into using their product. Plus I have a relative who had his career ruined over an offhand remark he made on Facebook, and I just don't need that kind of worry.
  9. Hey Brad, can I get a ruling on whether After Dark 3.2 for Windows 3.1 counts as a game? People will probably look at it as just screensavers, but it does have a couple of interactive portions (including a quiz game that would be the predecessor to You Don't Know Jack), and eXo included it in his Win3xO collection, so I'd argue it should be included. Should I bother submitting it?
  10. Ugh, it always sucks when one of the big ones gets taken down. People keep saying go to ExtraTorrents, but it's not the same. Heck, it won't even let you sort by seeders unless you're a premium member.
  11. Are you adding it as a DOS game, or a Windows one? Because the link is for a Windows game, but you're saying DOS. That might be part of the issue.
  12. Yeah, now I'm getting rejection votes for new games that are 100% without a doubt legitimate and easily approvable. Something funky's going on in the database.
  13. circo said DOS76 said That looks great. Thanks, I haven't really been able to drum up much interest in these overall unfortunately, but it was worth a shot. Always fun to try something different. Back to the drawing board. That's a shame, I thought it looked really cool!
  14. I like that. I was also kicking around the idea of having moderator comments enabled on each submission, so if something is stuck in 50/50 approval/rejection limbo, there can be a debate as to what to do.
  15. I'd like to see comments for submissions, so I can understand why people are trying to change things, and not just have to look at the existing entry and figure out what they are thinking. Also, support for alternate game titles would be huge, now that we have the ability to delete games.
  16. Hi eXo, As one of your previous users, and a longtime member of [redacted], I just wanted to tell you how excited I am by this thread, and that the eXoDOS collection took my breath away with how thorough it was. By volume 5, I was checking nearly every day for it to be released. You and Launchbox are, together, the best things that, in my opinion, have happened to emulation in a LONG time, and I'm really excited to see what happens here. And no pressure, but holy shit I'm excited that you're making progress on Win9x gaming. Just wanted to give you a long overdue thanks for what you've been doing.
  17. Cebion said I've spoken with some of the moderators and we're all a bit worn out. But this is not because of the endless stream of submissions. This is a good thing. But mainly because the stagnation of development on the gamesdb and features missing to make the job easier. I don't want to search for one game like 10 mins just to find out why the user has made an change to an existing entry that was perfectly good. Then the Developer dilemma etc. but it all has been talked about. I know that jason hasn't forgotten us and is working at it at the moment. So soon it'll be better. So don't worry! It doesn't help that I've been doing a massive cross country move off and on for about a month, so I've had very little desktop access for a while now. I'd love to burn through the queue as soon as possible when I get back up and running (I'm typing this on a janky old Android tablet right now.) But yeah, new features would always be welcome.
  18. The easiest way I found to do this is go here and follow the steps to create a shortcut, then, in Launchbox, click "add game" and have it point to that shortcut. This is the only way I've successfully been able to get Windows 10 apps to launch from Launchbox.
  19. kmoney2315 said DOS76 said Every time I update LB which is frequently on multiple computers I get an error message about LB currently running From observing this over and over I think that the update installer tries to start before LB has a chance to close so you get this message if you hit ok fast enough you can get the message to pop of numerous times sometimes but if you pause for a second or two it will only appear once. Is there anyway you could add a small delay to when the installer begins after the update is done downloading through LB and give it time to close LB before running. Do other users experience this? For me it happens across all computers and all LB instances. Yes this error has been happening to me also in the last 5 or so betas. Same here, I have to click it a few times before the installation continues.
  20. With E3 coming up, I started wondering - should we allow games that are still in development to be added to the database? If so, should there at least be a playable version available to backers before we add it i.e. a beta of some kind, or Early Access version on Steam? I've seen a couple entries submitted for upcoming games, and wasn't sure how to moderate them.
  21. SentaiBrad said CliveBarker said I just downloaded metadata for 426 games and I want to thank everyone contributing at the Games Database because it went flawless. Not a single game with incorrect metadata and even the special and enhanced editions were identified correctly. That wasn't possible just some months ago. Yea once we got it started I backed off moderating the Database because it would take me forever and away from other things I needed to do, but I am proud of what we've put together. It's still not perfect, there are features still to be made, functionality with LB that needs to be in place, and there are still rules that need ironing out... but what we have is super promising. Come back to us, Brad.... there's ALWAYS more moderating to be done....ALWAYS.... MUHAHAHAHAHAHA...... Seriously though, it never ends. Kind of great.
  22. Seven years of Reagan, and even Reagan forgot which bathroom to use...
