  1. I generally have at least three different types of controllers connected just in case, so yeah, separate controller configuration would be super useful for me as well!
  2. The policy, as we've followed it so far, has been to go by what's on the box. To be honest, I hate it. Nobody refers to them as "Disney's Aladdin" except corporate PR, and it usually throws off automatic rom importing because no one labels their roms that way. I think once we get alternate names implemented, it won't be an issue, but in the meantime, that's how we've been handling it.
  3. Wow seriously? That's impressive, kind of. Kind of. If it makes you feel better, I was one of the approvals on all those changes.
  4. I figured, just wanted to give you an update. I assume you had similar results.
  5. So I've been able to successfully delete SOME games, but other ones have still stuck around. Don't know why...
  6. "Everyone" doesn't have Sega arcade systems in separate sections. A lot of users keep Arcade games under the same heading, and it's relatively easy to use a different emulator for a select few games.
  7. You mean the ones that @hubz helpfully gathered for us, and that I've been painstakingly uploading in my free time, being sure to only do so when the original image is low quality or a lesser reconstruction? Yeah, I'm not going to apologize for contributing when no one else has. Look forward to me finishing the upload soon!! (And hey! If you've got better covers, submit them instead of complaining!)
  8. I generally do that, as Dolphin provides a much better experience in general than PCSX2, however there are a few games that were given inferior ports from the PS2 to GCN. If you're unsure, you can usually track down reviews of the games (that era's reviews are mostly still available online), they'll usually mention any differences between ports. Plus you have to factor in that the reason GC games were smaller is because of the 1.4 GB limitation of the mini-discs that Nintendo insisted on. As a result, you'll sometimes get cut content, or degraded FMV quality. In addition, the GC controller has several fewer buttons than the PS2, so control can sometimes be an issue. What I'm saying is, do your research, because your mileage may vary.
  9. I don't split them. My logic is, at no point did you go somewhere to separately play the new Neo-Geo games, then go somewhere else to exclusively play CPS-2 games. You went to the arcade to play arcade games. Just like you turn on your NES to play NES games.

Well all I was doing was pointing out that a banana doesn't prove the existence of a deity. Don't over-analyze that.
  11. An interesting thing I'm noticing is that when you request removal of a game, your total number of pending changes doesn't go up. Just seems odd.
  12. You're trying to add them to the Game Boy Color platform. Red/Blue/Yellow were released for the standard Nintendo Game Boy. Only Gold/Silver/Crystal were GBC games.
  13. Well I'm going to try submitting new stuff for deletion rather than wade through 477 pages of changes status, see if the games get deleted. It's entirely possible it already was fixed and we just assumed it was still there.
  14. @SentaiBrad So do you want a list? Because I could spend HOURS combing through all the entries that were supposed to have been deleted and stuck around. Basically almost half the Genesis games are duplicates, left over from the merge with MegaDrive. SNES has a bunch of duplicates from the merge with Super Famicom as well. (and obviously, any of the zzz_not_a_game entries should be deleted) EDIT: never mind, it's been a while since I went through those sections. It looks like a lot of duplicates have been taken care of. Sorry.

Except that the banana was domesticated over thousands of years, thus proving that man is the ultimate Intelligent Designer.
  16. Because nothing that's been marked for deletion has actually been, you know, deleted? And this has been happening for MONTHS. As a stopgap measure it makes about as much sense as anything. Weird thing is, I've seen games marked for deletion get actually deleted, but they were particularly obscure, so I wonder if it's not deleting games that people have listed as part of their collections?
  17. Just add the image separately, the database supports multiple images for the same category. As long as they're both high enough resolution, both should be kept around (for example, Metroid for NES has two very different official boxes)
  18. Alright, I guess I'm doing it all, since no one else chimed in... Well, the clear logos are done, so don't bother with them. And I'm not gonna bother doing banners, sorry. I hate banners. If someone else wants to, that's the only way it's getting done.
  19. Okay, silly question, but it's a thought: are you currently seeding your romset using a torrent client? Or do you have some form of auto-backup program that is monitoring your HDD? Either of those might cause that sort of an error.
  20. Alright, so how do we divide this thing up? I don't want a bunch of unnecessary duplicate uploads happening. How about we each claim a part that we feel comfortable being the ones uploading? I can do clear logos if you want (I've been doing them for SNES in my free time anyway.)
  21. Are you actively seeding the torrent? Because it's dead on my end.
  22. I just use an original SNES pad with an adapter from RetroUSB. I'm enough of a nitpicker that anything third-party or recreated, no matter how "authentic feeling", just doesn't cut it for me.
  23. Yeah could you put them in an archive and stick them up on MEGA or something like that? I'd rather not right-click each one or use some shady mass downloader.
  24. I don't know if we have an official policy on this, so here's my take (blah blah disclaimer blah blah my opinion only) LaunchBox is, above all else, a frontend. Frontends launch games. If a game is divided into 5 separate programs that need to be launched to play 5 episodes of a season (like Sam & Max from Telltale), then there should be 5 separate DB entries to help scrape them when they're added to LaunchBox. On the OTHER hand; if a game has a central launcher, and the DLC episodes are integrated naturally into the main game (like American McGee's Grimm), there's nothing separate to launch, so an entry isn't needed. This has been my policy on DLC from day one (standalone expansions vs. skin/weapon packs, etc) , and it's also my policy on "2-in-1" game releases where they were released on one cartridge/disc versus two. I didn't moderate the Cognition change, so I can't speak for what happened there, but it seems like if there are separate launchers for each episode, they should have been allowed. (This is another reason @Jason Carr would be a super great guy if he could implement optional submission comments so that we could understand people's motivations for certain changes) Again, this is just my opinion, but since no one else has said anything, I figured I'd tell you where I'm coming from.
