The file name thing isn't CCS64's fault - it's LB's. Certain characters in a filename cause issues for CCS64 when they're launched via LB (while the same file will work just fine when started within CCS64 itself). Certain things like brackets, double parenthesis, commas, and plus or minus signs in the filenames seem to cause issues. Any time you encounter that you can just rename it to something simpler and it'll work fine. The control thing just sounds like you need to calibrate your joystick in the Input section. I've never had any issues with erroneous inputs unless you have the same input device (like a controller) connected to both port 1 and port 2 at the same time (which you should never do). You want to associate it with one port, and switch between them as needed (and I have an AHK script to add that, among other things, to a controller). You use whateeeeever you want, but CCS64 is still the best.

1) An optional "append" checkbox for custom command-line parameters in the emulation tab when editing a game entry in your library, so that rather than simply replacing any and all custom command-line parameters that are specified in the emulator entry itself (current functionality) it would add any specified command-line parameters in the game entry to the ones that are in the emulator entry. 2) A %rompath% variable similar to the current %romfile% variable except that it injects only the path to the rom, and doesn't include the file itself. As far as the community ratings, is the only way to pull the ratings on existing library entries to do a standard metadata rescrape (that's the only way I've seen anyway)? Any chance of a Tools menu option specifically for pulling (and updating) the community ratings for your entire library? I think that'd be pretty useful. I haven't had any crashes since beta 6 so fingers crossed, but I'll let you know if that changes.

After playing some more, the actual gameplay feels kindof off even with VU Stealing at 1. 1 is better than 2, but 1 is still off. That same sort of jittery feeling. Turning EE -3 and VU 0 feels great in play and only has some occasional hiccups in cutscenes for me. There were a couple momentary bits of slowdown in the first cutscene and none in the second cutscene. I think I'm going to upload it as a yellow with EE-3 / VU 0 and just make note on the sheet that the slowdown can be reduced by increasing the cycle stealing, but at the cost of frame pacing /jitteriness. I don't think I could play it with cycle steal at even 1, personally. It just feels noticeably off to me. I'd rather have the occasional blip in a cutscene than have the gameplay feel kindof janky.

Hahaha I dunno about that, but I am pretty picky about these things Maybe stuff like that isn't particularly noticeable to some people but it sticks out like a sore thumb to me. It's easier to see it when you're actually playing the game in fullscreen than side by side like that though. It just looks really jerky.

So, VU Cycle Stealing: 2 seems to have some really bad issues with frame timing/pacing. For me anyway. It says it's 60fps for both 1 and 2, but 2 looks pretty awful to me because of how stuttery it appears. It's especially noticeable when there's fast motion, like while driving or when characters move quickly. It also seems to cause some visual bugs. The kid turns invisible in the opening cutscene (I played through it twice with 2 and it happened both times). Cycle Stealing: 1 doesn't seem to have either of these issues. This needs to be viewed fullscreen but you should (hopefully) be able to see the difference pretty clearly.

Yep, pretty good round up. Here's a weird pic of Kubla Kahn for good measure: I remember being amazed by (and struggled to wrap my head around) BBS on our C64 when I was a kid. That said, I wouldn't go back to those days for anything; any more than yearn for the return of Geocities haha. Also, welcome back.

In all seriousness, I'd like to think that we have one of the least toxic communities around. I would think (and hope) that most people around here would agree. And I of all people will be the absolute last person to advocate censorship, but if it's my responsibility to do something (in this case, protect these boards), I'm going to do so as best I'm able. There's never been an "official" stance so it's always just been at our discretion. If Jason's fine with it, I'm fine with it. I appreciate the work you've done here, so it wasn't meant as anything to the contrary. I don't use them myself (setting them up is actually part of the fun for me; that and I use Munt and VirtualMidiSynth for MT-32 and GM audio) but I wholeheartedly salute any effort to bring these games to people that probably wouldn't experience them otherwise. It's a huge span of games that are worthy of people's attention (and shouldn't be forgotten) so I'm really glad that something like this exists. Godspeed

But you admit it. So I still believe you.
-
You'll get zero argument out of me. This is why I specifically said it's not meant as some kind of sanctimonious nonsense - I do it, you do it, everyone here does it. To pretend to do otherwise is just ridiculous. I saw someone on the PCSX2 forums banned because they had a screenshot of like 6 bioses in their emulator and they were told that unless they "owned 6 PS2s" that they couldn't do that. I just rolled my eyes. Again, it's not about me trying to pretend anything to the contrary. I don't care. It is, however, my job to try to protect these boards. Don't take it as anything more than that. It's not me attacking you or anyone else. It's not me being a snob or an "arm chair lawyer" or equivalent. I believe you. After speaking with Jason, the conclusion is that it's okay so long as nothing directly is directly linked. That's how he wants to do it so that's how we'll do it.
-
I don't care one way or the other personally. It's not my business that's at stake. So if Jason's fine with it, so am I. Just trying to protect him and these boards is all.
-
I'd prefer to err on the side of caution is all. It will not hurt us in any way to not allow name-dropping sites that are purely for the purposes of obtaining roms/pirated material. The opposite may not be true. Nor is it of any particular concern to me if someone gets frustrated by the fact that they can't have said roms/pirated material placed into their hands, either directly or surreptitiously, by someone on these boards. That's not a policy exclusive to these boards or even most emulation-related boards for that matter. Try going over to the PCSX2 forums and asking where to "acquire" something and see how it works out. If you have to ask whether or not something is "pushing it", it's probably best to assume that it is.
-
Honestly this kind of stuff isn't too good either (though I'll admit this is considerably better than some of the cutsie stuff I've seen to skirt around things haha). I don't think it's so much that it's "random" so much as things just go unnoticed. Only so many of us that can read so many posts.
-
Good idea. I found 10 references. Deleted them all.
-
Deleted a post. I have less issue (though still some issue) with mentioning a website that has a huge array of non-emulation-related content than one that is exclusively based around roms. Not trying to be arbitrary or sanctimonious, just gotta be careful here gents.

FBA in Launchbox only launches some games and not all
Zombeaver replied to mrwasi's topic in Troubleshooting
You can do that if you want too. I have mine split out as CPS-1 and CPS-2 but you could put them together (along with CPS-3) if you prefer. Just make you have the platform set to "scrape as" Arcade so that you get the right metadata. That said, what you described should work as long as everything is set correctly in LB. You'd name the platform "Capcom Arcade", then in your Retroarch emulator entry you'd add an associated platform of "Capcom Arcade" and command line parameter cell next to it add -L "cores\fbalpha_libretro.dll", check the box to make it the default emulator (if you prefer) and you should be good to go. If you do that and it still doesn't work, send a screenshot of your Retroarch emulator entry in LB, and the associated platform tab so that we can see it. -

FBA in Launchbox only launches some games and not all
Zombeaver replied to mrwasi's topic in Troubleshooting
Folders? No, that's not what I'm talking about. In Launchbox, each platform needs to be directed to the appropriate core. You do this via the associated platform tab for your Retroarch emulator entry (Tools -> Manage Emulators). In your Retroarch entry, you have to have associated platforms for CPS-1, CPS-2, and CPS-3 and each needs to be directed to the core dll. -

Can you post a screenshot of your associated platform tab for Retroarch? The game you're mentioning as working is a CPS-1 game. The one that you say isn't is a CPS-2 game. You need to have associated platforms for both CPS-1 and CPS-2 and both need to be directed to the core that you want to use - fbalpha_libretro.dll in this case.
