If you don't have a full Mame set don't use the importer.
Import the games you do have like any other normal system.
I would advise though since you are new to emulation that you either source a full set from "the pleasuredome". Or you make sure your roms work with the version of Mame you have before importing.
Did you import only the cue files of your disc images ? Or did you import the bin files as well ? You want the cue files only imported and being pointed to in LB.
This is so needlessly complicated.
We have a couple of NeoGeo rom copy batch files here on the forums in the downloads section that are far more simple if you felt you needed to have duplicate roms on your drive.
On top of that you can just use Mame and a simple command line parameter to start the games in AES mode.
aes %romfile% -bios usa
You don't.
MadK9 is correct.
If you know the version of the rom set you have then you can download that version of Mame from the Mame website.
If you want the latest Mame you will want to download the version of the rom set to go with that to ensure the maximum compatibility.
The speed difference will depend on the number of games imported and the size of the xml files. On top of that you have to take into consideration just how much you value those few seconds of loading time of LB. For me the few extra seconds of load time does not matter at all and because of my smaller library and limited images the responsiveness of LB / BB is still really smooth and snappy but if someone has a large library like 50,000+ games and all the different media types then the SSD speed might be worth more.
SSD is always going to give the most performance but in my personal setup and experience running everything off the HDD is not a big deal but I also don't run a large collection.
If you bought an external drive off Amazon that came with a premium LB license you got ripped off and is highly illegal. The roms, emulators and LB license is illegal to sell.
If you want a license that is legal buy one from this website.
Good you got it sorted but in the future email support@unbrokensoftware.com with license related issues.
Mobile version license and desktop licenses are not interchangeable.
If the actual hardware was different yes but not for cases like this where it is just a PS2 + DVR. It didn't happen for the Sega X'Eye (JVC Sega CD) or the Victor V-Saturn.
Because the hardware was identical there was no way to actually make an exclusive game. Any game made for the PSX DVR would just work on the PS2 and vice versa.
Yeah running at 30hz will feel bad and with v-sync enabled it will lock everything at 30 fps slowing down 60 fps games to half speed including the sound. If the TV supports 120 that would be even better.
When you say lag do you mean bad framerate or input latency ?
If you mean framerate then I would check that that the refresh rate is set to 60 or 120 if available and not 30.
2500-3000 is about right when using the default filters when using the full set import tool. Many of the files in a full mame set are fruit machine, mahjong, video poker games as well as all the different regional versions of each game.
Oh yeah this would go over really well, a commercial company buying out an open source frontend with open source non commercial emulators is not only a terrible idea but most likely illegal.
The best way is to set it in the emulator itself. Pretty much every emulator I have seen and touched has display settings to set resolutions and aspect ratio.
