Launchbox's Controller Automation button combo will do this for you. The button combo sends the Escape command to the PC shutting down the emulator as long as it supports Escape to close it. Some emulators don't and in those cases an AHK script can be set for the emulator in LB to send the close emulator command to it.

From what I saw it was just standard box art and screenshots and carts and stuff like that.

They are probably doing like everyone else does, get them from where ever and whoever uploads to their database, much like how our database is built.

RetroArch Black Screen in OpenGL since latest release
Lordmonkus replied to boohyaka's topic in Emulation
Black screen with sound is usually caused by an incompatible shader being loaded with with the core which is indicated by your log. I have usually experienced this with the Mupen64 core and trying to use a CG shader. -
It appears to be pulling it from their site here: https://screenscraper.fr/ It was "all right", I can't say it was great but I have seen and used much worse but it could have been better as well. There was zero documentation on their website or included with the software and like I said previously the one video I found on YouTube was in I believe Portuguese so I had no idea what was being said. I did have to wipe out my test platform (Atari 7800) a couple of times while I figured out what to turn on and off and make my own way through the UI. All I can say about it is this. I won't be using it as a replacement for the built in Launchbox scraper anytime soon, Skraper doesn't on first look have any fine control over scraping individual games as I add them. Like I said in my previous post I used a small import of 7800 games in my test install of LB (20 games) and ran Skraper on it. It found all the data on the games just fine (except for homebrew which is expected) but at at the same time because I had to tell it where all my roms were it downloaded media for all of those games as well so that's a waste. It seems built more for scraping entire collections and for that it appears to be quite powerful. If you were to just import a whole collection of games into LB without any metadata or media scraping in LB and then ran Skraper over it then it could be very interesting but I am really not all that interested in trying that out. This software might find a use for some people but I am not one of them. Anyways this is not the place for this discussion but it was an interesting experiment, if someone wants to make a separate thread about Skraper to discuss it by all means do so.

I gave Skraper a quick test and after getting over the initial setup hurdles it seems like it could have some potential but I will have to look at it a bit more tomorrow. My initial thoughts though are while it isn't terribly difficult to get up and running they need some documentation or at least a tutorial video. The only video I saw with a quick YouTube search was some Spanish or Portuguese one. I did manage to figure it out though and took a few tries to get things working the way I wanted to for the most part, still gonna do some more tinkering with it though. I certainly would not recommend anyone to run this on their working Launchbox setup without making a backup of it first or use it on a test install like I did, that way if it royally botches things up it's not a big deal. While looking through the different options and seeing what it can download though I can certainly see a lot of potential with it. It has video and manual downloading and auto favoriting games based off their ratings. Another interesting thing I noticed and tried was an option to "Minimize Size" on the platform xml file which could come in handy for performance for some users. What this was reduces wasted characters and stuff in the xml file which made my test platforms (Atari 7800) xml significantly smaller at the cost of making the xml much more difficult for humans to read. One thing I did notice that I did not like though I could have just missed a setting for it. I told it scrape my Atari 7800 platform which I only had 20 games imported but Skraper scraped and downloaded all the media for all the roms in the roms folder for it. I would much rather have had it only download the media for the games I had imported. Again though this could be an option that I just missed or just something not implemented yet since it is still a beta release.

Problem launching Sega 32X games via LaunchBox & RetroArch
Lordmonkus replied to Giblet's topic in Troubleshooting
Yeah there was a total of 6 32X CD games, all of them awful FMV games. These games required both the CD and 32X addons while regular 32X games only used the 32X addon. -

Lordmonkus replied to Giblet's topic in Troubleshooting
You can add the Sega 32X CD platform by going to the bottom of the Associated Platforms, just click in there and type it in. I see your problem. Your 32X games are imported under Sega CD 32X when they are Sega 32X. Change the platform name to Sega 32X and they will work since that is what you have in your Associated Platforms already. And then when you get 32X CD games you can import them to the Sega 32X CD platform and add that platform to the Associated Platforms for Retroarch. -
Problem launching Sega 32X games via LaunchBox & RetroArch
Lordmonkus replied to Giblet's topic in Troubleshooting
Ok I see a couple of things. Are you actually trying to load 32X CD games ? Your title says it but I see nothing else about it. You don't have a 32X CD platform and 32X CD games are their own platform. They will not work with the Genesis GX core. 32X games work perfectly fine for me using the picodrive core. -

Vlansix has gone MIA, with no word on if or when he will return. A while back he had to attend to a serious family matter and there hasn't been any word since unfortunately.

Yes, she is gone as well.

Mine is the older model with only 2 settings, PS4 or PS3, the PS3 setting is the PC compatible one and what I use with it. As for your mapping issues I don't know what to tell you other than to make sure it's set to PC and if that doesn't work try PS3 and PS4 mode. I had to set mine up manually in RA when I got mine but it appears now there is a Hori Fight Commander 4 autoconfig in the Retroarch\autoconfig\xinput folder. I had a look inside the cfg file and saw this at the top: # This assumes that you have the PS4/PS3 System Toggle Switch set to 4. So maybe you have to set it to PS4 for the newer models to work with it.

Not Launchbox but I don't know who else to ask :-(
Lordmonkus replied to PRobinson1976's topic in Emulation
Ok, good, just wanted to make sure there wasn't anything being misunderstood on my end. Man, that is a weird one and never seen it myself. I can only suggest to try a new fresh install of Retroarch to a new folder and see what happens. -

Ok. Just so i'm making sure i'm understanding everything correctly here. You are saying if you load Retroarch on it's own and then load core you get "no core" loaded in the bottom left of Retroarch ? Like this ?
