  1. Just did a quick test on my really crappy HTPC running Windows 7 with 2 gigs of ram and everything is the same as it was with version 8.1 of Launchbox. My total ram usage in the task manager with BigBox open is 1.1 gigs with BigBox using less than 400 megs.
  2. Did you nest the new install inside the previous install ? Like, do you have a Launchbox folder inside your Launchbox install folder \Launchbox\Launchbox
  3. Yeah, I wasn't really sure which category to put them under so I just stuck them in there and if anyone wants to move them for playlist purposes they can do that themselves.
  4. Gauntlet and Gauntlet II are already in. Congo Bongo I have on the list for the update.
  5. I'm working on a list of games to add to it for when 200 drops so i'll add Q-Bert to it.
  6. The FBA rom set does not require the CHDs to work but it also requires the FBA core (or standalone). I personally use a set of CPS games pulled out of the FBA set. Also, there are NO CD versions of the CPS3 roms except for Redearth / Warzard that work in Mame. When I made my No Filler v2 romset I included those specific versions of the roms.
  7. I'm not saying it's not happening for you, I am only saying I cannot reproduce it now when I was able to reproduce it consistently before. I can scroll through games as fast as possible and as soon as I land on a game I can press the B button to load directly into the game, close out the game and scroll to a completely different game as fast as possible and mash the B button again before the box art and information for that game catches it and it loads directly into the game selected. I Just did this again for 10 games in a row and each time the proper game loaded.
  8. Tested it with BigBox as well, I even just loaded up to triple test it and no problems switching games and platforms, proper games loaded each time. I loaded games both ways, using the "Launch Game" sub menu of the game and loading the game directly from the games list.
  9. Not sure what to tell you because I was able to reproduce this issue consistently before and told Jason about it and the very next beta it was fixed and works properly in the stable 8.3 release.
  10. That's odd, have you tried reinstalling the latest stable version over top of the current install ?
  11. Check your task manager to make sure there isn't an instance of Launchbox running already but hidden.
  12. Lauchbox for Apple has been discussed and been ruled out for now as a potential platform due to not having enough potential users to warrant the time spent on porting it.
  13. Glad you got it working. It seems like you had no emulator set to run your Mame roms so LB was just opening the rom file. I kind of figured that was what the problem was with your description in the first post.
  14. No, the 2nd screenshot I showed is from Launchbox. I simply showed you the 2 places to view manuals, for Launchbox and BigBox mode. Launchbox is the desktop mode which is free for everyone and also the "management" mode where you set everything up. It just happens to be able to be used as a launcher as well. BigBox is the controller based UI which you can use from your couch or in an arcade cabinet, this is the mode that you pay for because this is how Jason makes money to work on this full time.

    Graphics card

You will run into some bugs using AMD cards because of the their bad OpenGL drivers which many emulators use. Do keep in mind that the newer emulators like Cemu and RPCS3 specifically (if you are going to emulate those systems) do benefit from a more modern graphics card. CPU is still most important but a graphics card does matter for those emulators.

You don't really need a whole lot for a video card for most emulation but if you do get into stuff like Dolphin, PCSX2, Cemu, Citra, RPCS3 and upping the internal resolution of games on those emulators you will need something. You didn't specify what your budget was but I would go with something like an Nvidia 1050Ti. This will cost under 200$ and will perform well with the emulators mentioned previously and if you decided you wanted some modern PC games to go along with your emulation it will handle them just fine at 1080p resolution. If the 200$ price tag is too much then you could drop down to a regular 1050 (non Ti) which has less video ram but it will cost around 140$ on Newegg. It will handle your emulation needs just fine along with some PC gaming but for that depending on the game you will need to tinker with some settings to get them running smoothly. If 140$ is still too much then you can drop down to the Nvidia 1030 which you can get for under 100$ which again will handle emulation just fine and should handle resolution scaling in the more modern emulators and some basic PC gaming, just don't expect miracles on the PC gaming side of things if you decided you wanted to get into that at some point.
  17. https://www.amazon.ca/Fighting-Commander-PlayStation-Controller-Officially/dp/B00TKLFES8 This is the one I have, it's the older version but I can't imagine there is too much different besides the shape and a couple of very minor d-pad customization adjustment settings. Edit: The d-pad is absolutely perfect and has enough buttons and 6 face buttons so it handles everything I can throw at it, SNES, Genesis 6 button, PC Engine 6 button, PS1 and Saturn without issues or compromises in layout.
  18. Yeah I can understand that. The Hori FC is just such a great controller and far better overall than any non analog stick controller to the point I would much rather use it than any standard d-pad controller ever made, including the might SNES or Saturn controller. Th 360 controller work really well for me, I like it better than a real N64 controller and its not problematic with Gamecube though the GC controller is pretty damn nice.
  19. That is just way too insane with all those controllers, pretty cool though. I'm good with my Hori FC for non analog stick systems and games and my 360 pad for analog stick games.
  20. Was working for me just fine the last couple of days while making playlists for my No Filler Mame sets, no restarting LB was necessary for them to show.
