Hi OrochiMishima, yes it’s definitely possible to do that. BigBox can automatically start when you boot up your PC and you can shut down your PC through Bigbox with a controller as well.

Show platform details and platform notes separately

Thanks Jason! The new properties are working great. -
Thanks Jason! This is an awesome new feature. I have the K-Lite Codec pack installed on my PC and have absolutely no problems with the Videos from Steam when I use the WMP engine. Everything works as expected. But on the other hand I have a small issue when I use the VLC engine. On some videos I get a small green line at the bottom of the video. The line always appears at the same videos and as I said is everything fine when I play the affected videos with the WMP engine. I also have no issues when I play these videos with the normal VLC player program.

W00t!? Steam trailer downloads? Awesome! Did you also have considered what I wrote under that ticket about metadata and screenshot downloads from Steam? There are currently over 10.000 games listed in Steam and alone in 2015 there were 3.500 games released on that platform. It would be a complete full-time job to add all these games to the LaunchBox database. So as Steam features a lot of screenshots and metadata for the games anyway (and you can probably assume that the official info’s there are correct) it would be great if the importer could download them as well. Because as of now I have huge gaps for my Steam games in LaunchBox. Especially for a lot of smaller indie titles.

Save Images and Videos To A Different Drive?
CriticalCid replied to Dreamwarrior77's topic in Troubleshooting
LaunchBox was designed to be completely portable and it always standardly stores all data like the images in its own folder. So it should just work when you move your complete folder to another drive. -
Save Images and Videos To A Different Drive?

Hi Dreamwarrior, you can change the paths of the media folders under: Tools –> Manage Platforms -> Edit the Platform you want -> Folders Of course you can use any hard drive you want for this. -
Super Famicom - Super Nintendo back and forth
CriticalCid replied to moppedz's topic in Contributions
The merging is definitely going to happen when you take a look into the guidelines. @Jason Carrplease put this issue a little higher in your short list. It’s too much hassle right now and like Clive said it would be bad if we would discourage anyone because of that. -
Super Famicom - Super Nintendo back and forth
CriticalCid replied to moppedz's topic in Contributions
To all the people who are doing this. Please stop! The platforms will get merged in the future BUT everything else like proper region info’s has to be implemented first. So before this isn’t done and we get the official okay from Jason please leave the games under Super Famicom in their own category to avoid the unnecessary hassle in the moderation process. -

I really like the new dark theme. Thanks Jason I've also noticed that the administrators rank is red colored and the moderators rank isn't. Maybe you can change it to green or blue so that new users can see it more directly when a mod is responding to them. (Of course it would also push my ego to have a fancy colored rank )

Show platform details and platform notes separately
CriticalCid replied to CriticalCid's topic in Big Box Custom Themes
I figured out that the View calls the “FilterDeatilsView.xml” with the "Content="{Binding DetailsView}" command and uses it to show the platform details. I tried to edit it but it seems that I can’t show the details and notes separately because “Binding Path=Notes” doesn’t seem to work... Also I wondered if it would be possible to call my own .xaml files within another .xaml file through the “Content=Binding” command? As of now it seems that I just can use the already existing ones because nothing happens when I try to call a custom one. Maybe @Jason Carr could help? -
Hey Jason, I’ve recently installed a second version of LaunchBox 6.7 for testing purposes and noticed that there isn’t any option to set the installer to German. I just thought I should point that out in case it was forgotten.

Thanks mate, it looks great

I’m completely with Zombeaver. Reddit is the best example that an up-/down-vote system doesn’t work because people either don’t get it how it is supposed to be used, abuse it on purpose to discredit opinions they don’t like or just trolling around. In my opinion was the old like system perfect as it was.

That's actually pretty easy. Create a Custom Filter which filters for games in your Arcade platform + publisher and/or developer you want to create a Classics platform for. Than select all games in that filter with Ctrl + a and change the platform with bulk edit to the new one.

As you can configure in which cases you want to get E-Mails maybe more moderate default settings for this would be a good idea. Right now you get E-Mails for everything. Also I’m not quite sure where to post this, but I need the option back to tell my location in my profile. It’s the simplest way to excuse my bad English

I don’t know what you think it would do but all it does is to fill in the “Region” value based on the tag in the ROM filename. The value exists since a long time but was never automatically parsed when you have imported games. All I’m saying is that LB should use this value to determine which region should be used for the artwork and name (when alternative names get added to the db).
-
Zombeaver said This assumes that the rom files even have the region tag. It also would mean that LB would treat rom file names differently than it's always done - which is to ignore text within special characters. I would say once again that this is probably harder to implement than it sounds - it'd have to be setup in such a way as to recognize the region tag (which can be in a number of different forms like U/US/USA/NA/NTSC and J/JAP/JPN etc.) and simultaneously ignore everything else in special characters. It seems possible, but potentially problematic. Jason already has added support for the region tag in either 6.5 or 6.6, can't remeber which version it exactly was. So yeah, the groundwork is already done ;) And if a ROM file hasn't the region tag in it you can always add the region manually in LB or consider to change your ROMset to a better one like No-Intro. EDIT: I just looked it up in the changelog and it was added in 6.4 - New Feature: Region information can now be parsed from ROM file names for No-Intro and Goodsets and possibly other naming formats
-
As of now you can upload artwork for different regions for every game. Only the metadata is currently lacking of multiregion support. So alternative names would be a good point to start with that. Also LaunchBox currently downloads all available artwork for every region but it’s totally random which artwork it uses. That’s why I said it would be about time that LaunchBox uses the right artwork based on the region tag in the ROM name.

Finally, some faster forums! I will definitely be there to test it out. :)

How to update your MAME ROMset to a newer version with CLRmamepro
CriticalCid replied to SentaiBrad's topic in Emulation
djwar said Thank you CriticalCid, but I have a question lets say I have version .168 so if I download newest version, I need to download all the update packs as you stated in point #2, isnit? You think is worth it that much hassle, will the games look any different ? if not, there no point in upgrading and better keep the old version, right.. Like I said in the introduction. If all the games you want to play are there and working perfectly fine for you there’s no need to update it.
