Hi All, For some reason I cannot get RetroArch to launch Sega SG-1000 games using the Genesis Plus GX core. Is anyone else using this core? Am I missing something? I am using unzipped .bin files for the roms. Also, what are people using for ST-V? I see RetroArch can do it but I am unsure which core and if additional settings are needed. As always thank you!

Hi All, I am emulating Amiga, Commodore 64, MSX and MSX2 but I keep them out of Big Box because i only want games that work well with controllers in Big Box. Because they aren't in Big Box i basically never play any of them. Do any of you use controllers with any of the above? Do they work well? I saw some people online playing MSX games with a controller and it didn't seem to be an issue or need to also use a keyboard. Just was curious - if 90% of the MSX games work great with a controller then I will add to big box, if not I'll leave as is and use in LaunchBox only with a keyboard. Thanks!

These are great. I actually have 2 requests if that's ok? Can you make one for Beats of Rage? It's not a game but it is a platform. I am trying to find (but can't) a Streets or Rage logo where the top word is Beats instead of Streets. The second is a Street Fighter Collection logo. Again, this is a platform not a game. But I cannot find a Street Fighter logo (modern or retro) that also has the word collection on it. Any help is appreciated!

For the people who divide up their Arcade systems.... how are you doing it? Are you literally searching for each game and reassigning to a new platform? Or are you selecting specific rims during import? The problem with these make romaets are the non-friendly names and the 20versions of each game (region, hack, clone, number of players, etc..) I like the way Hyperspin does the Arcade platforms. You just point it to a list of games and you're good to go. I also like that it uses the same media as the master MAME platform. My issue with LB currently is that I'm creating a custom Platform for Street Fighter arcade games and it's a hassle to move each game from Arcade. Then when I tried to just repoint the Street Fighter platform folders to use the Arcade videos, it wouldn't use the theme videos. Then after that when I rescraped them (because finding each video I already have is cumbersome) it would download the videos to the Arcade platform despite these games being tagged to the "Street Fighter" platform. I think it makes sense to somehow allow the use of the HyperSpin XML files. So much work has gone into creating those very detailed list of working roms that it's a shame to start over. I also personally like 1 master platform and then the individual manufacturer's "classics" platforms - assuming you can share media of course.

Hi Guys, Amazing progress in the last few months with video themes and the additions of recorded and home brew videos. I am requesting a video clean-up feature. My LaunchBox video folder has swelled up to 75Gigs in the last few weeks and it is all because of the new videos that I am adding. The issue is that LaunchBox keeps both the "theme" video and the original gameplay video that I had. I am requesting that we have an option to "clean-up" or delete the gameplay videos if we'd like. Basically the tool could look for games that have both a theme and traditional video and you can set which one you would like removed. Thank you!

Ok got it! - I must've had a bad bios file. I have it working with MESS and downloaded 3 different a5200 bios files till one worked.

Doesn't work - MAME gives me an error "unknown system 'a5200' This is nuts... I feel like most people have Atari 5200 working.

Regular MAME or the RA core?

I set up the folder that way and just a black screen. MESS opens and closes immediately. So you currently have 5200 working? What are you using? Also I unzipped the file and use the .a52. Should I rezip?

I tried the MAME core for 5200 and I just get a black screen. Any special settings I need?

Hi All, Hoping I can get some help emulating Atari 5200. I followed Brad's video exactly but MESS will crash on startup. It works with other systems. Any idea? I have the 5200.zip (and 5200.rom) bios in multiple folders to cover my bases but still no luck. Any help is appreciated!

Hi All, I prefer using RetroArch whenever I can because it is so easy and the controllers always work. With that being said I am using MESS for Atari 5200, Philips CD-i and Neo Geo CD. Anyone using the RA MESS core for those systems? I care more about ease of use than customization and settings. Thank you!

Hi All, Loving the platform theme and game theme videos from everyone. I know I can get nyny videos from the download section here, but my questions is, is there anywhere other than through LB directly where I can get the James Baker videos? I am asking because I saw on his YouTube channel he has some game theme videos, but LaunchBox downloaded the recorded Hyperspin themes for those games instead of his. Ninja Turtles - Turtles in Time for example. Thank you!

Thank you, my issue that is for a newer romset than i have

for some reason MAME never remembers my coin or start settings so I need to re=do it every time i play a game. This is obviously frustrating. I even tried changing the cfg file to a read only but it didn't seem to work. Anyway, RetroArch never has issues with my controllers. Does anyone know where I can find an older MAME core for RA? My romset is .173 Does the MAME RA core work as well as the standalone MAME program? Thank you!

I fixed the issue by changing the pad ini file to read only

That's weird, you're using the newest version that was put out in August?
