  1. Shouldn't do, its more likely its been thrown about during transit, or was already broken.
  2. Yeah agreed, i would never buy a second hand HDD unless i could personally test it myself first.
  3. It depends where you have it in your PC, if its just in there with screws it could be vibrating the whole case. Generally HDD's should be on little rubber dampers to minimize vibration. As for it already being formatted that doesnt really matter, you may still need to tell windows to activate and use it in disk management. If it really is vibrating that much and making that much noise though then unfortunately you may of been scammed with a broken drive.
  4. That first app does do exactly what i wanted to do, so cheers @DOS76
  5. I have actually mentioned this myself before. It would be handy for people with a dual monitor or monitor/TV setup so the audio only comes from the monitor/TV that is actually running bigbox. At the moment i cant have bigbox on one and say a youtube vid on the other as they both overlap the audio.
  6. Just go into your Launchbox/Updates folder and re-install the newest version directly over the top of your current install. For future reference you want Launchbox/Data/BigBoxSettings.xml.
  7. They need to be .cue/.bin or CHD for mednafen Saturn in Retroarch. ISO's wont work for mednafen saturn.
  8. I have 3 different xinput controllers, a xbox one connected via official dongle, a gamesir g4s connected with its dongle and a 8bitdo sfc30 pro connected via bluetooth dongle, all 3 work just fine for me in Bigbox. I also have a Mayflash F500 wired arcade stick which i use in dinput mode, and that works fine also.
  9. Im not quite sure what you are asking here, Launchbox itself doesn't have to be fullscreen it can be any sized window you like. Once a game is loaded though you are no longer in Launchbox you are in the emulator so whatever settings you have set there will be used for the screen size be it fullscreen or windowed. It sounds to me like you just want a smaller emulator window so just set the emulator in question to windowed not fullscreen.
  10. Well i have never seen that before, i am really not sure what is happening there. My only guess is Windows is missing some files/drivers that next needs but normal Launchbox doesnt. I will tag @Jason Carr here to see if he has any idea, but i believe he is away this week so i am not sure when he will see it. Also i noticed you are always opening as administrator, why? Its not recommended to run Launchbox as administrator as it can cause issues.
  11. I havent used the standalone MESSEN only the Retroarch core, but you say you want "to fill out a normal 1920x1080 16:9 format" but that obviously isnt the normal format as its nes and is 4:3. Im not sure if MESSEN allows you to stretch it or not, it can be done in retroarch. However those nes games will look pretty bad stretched to 16:9 on a 4K screen in my opinion.
  12. You should only import the .cue files into Launchbox, that could be the issue there. My suggestion would be to delete the platform then re-import with just the .cue's when you get to the media download screen uncheck everything as you already have it all, so the import will be very quick. Also i should ask what core you are using in retroarch, and that is the same one you are using in Launchbox, i think there are 2 beetle psx cores a hardware one and a software one, are you deffinately using the correct one in Launchbox.
  13. What exactly the issue, games just doing nothing when double clicked? Have you the bios for PS1?
  14. If you are on the latest version of Launchbox then yes it has changed. That commandline is now a dropdown list, just double click it and select the core in the dropdown. Everything will be set behind the scenes.
  15. Ha ha cool, i was just wondering if it still had the old license activated so wasn't updating, Glad its all sorted.
  16. If you go to Help/License Registration does it say that the license is activated?
  17. Go to tools/options/game details and make sure video is checked. There are a few options there to tweak it how you would like.
  18. You probably have download in background checked, just leave it open and you will be prompted when the downloaded update is ready to install. Alternatively uncheck the download in background option then close and re-open to get the prompt.
  19. Launchbox and Launchbox.Next use the same images, there is no difference there. If the images are not showing in the older Launchbox then you probably have it set to use different images or something there. The folders images download to are still the same, both OG and Next pull them from exactly the same location.
  20. Yeah there are some defaults in there but it's not exhaustive, MAME is usually called Arcade so it's not there by default. Glad you hot it working though.
  21. Yes Launchbox needs you to specify the correct core to use for the platform. Go to tools/manage emulator double click retroarch and go to the associated platforms tab. In here you will have to add the name of your platform if its not listed, and it has to be named EXACTLY as it is listed on the left of Launchbox, then if you are on the latest version double click where the core is and use the dropdown to select the correct one,if you are not on the latest release you will need to type it in.
  22. From Launchbox? If that is the case then have you downloaded a MAME core and told Launchbox to use the correct one? Also i would still recommend using the portable Retroarch and using it from another location but that is your choice, however i wont be able to help troubleshoot that much as i dont use the installer version or have my retroarch in that privileged app data/roaming folder.
  23. Also on a side note you can just drag images into the reply window, its actually very hard to see the image you linked as its so small.
  24. You shouldnt really use the installer for retroarch just use the portable 7z version. The app data/roaming folder is hidden by default in Windows and it does that for a reason, you shouldnt really be messing with things in there. My guess is windows is not allowing Launchbox to launch games from there for security reasons. I just created a Emulators folder inside my Launchbox folder and keep all my emulators in there.
