  1. Yeah there is a big difference between a USB HDD and a USB stick, a USB HDD is designed to do a lot of reads and writes and will also have a small cache which will help out a lot. A USB stick is more for straight up storage and transfers not constant reads and writes which is what would be happening with running Bigbox from it. I bet if you were to run a hard drive speed test on the USB stick the random read and write speeds would be incredibly slow, and that is what a program would be doing for the most part, lots of simultaneous reads and writes.
  2. That could quite likely be the issue, Bigbox is having to read and load a lot of different data and images at the same time and the stick is quite likely not up to the task. USB sticks are a different beast to HDD's and are mostly designed to store data and to copy data to and from different devices, not to actually run programs from. While some lightweight programs would likely run from a USB stick just fine there is a lot going on in Bigbox with reads and writes and that would be my guess as to the issue you are experiencing,
  3. OK ill keep a eye on it, i did definitely mess with the box size slider after this update so that would explain that one, but i always use the 3D box's so im not changing the image type at all, as i say ill keep a eye on it. Thanks Jason.
  4. The metadata file is around 140mb currently, so may take a little while to download depending on your download speed.
  5. If you do decide to do this remember that the next cache is named differently to the normal cache (that tutorial was written before next released). I just created a folder called Launchbox Cache on my desktop and added both folders to it like in this image.
  6. You could also just move your cache to your ssd.
  7. You must be using a old version of Retroarch as it is clearly there on the image i posted above, here it is again.
  8. I am using a skin for Retroarch thats why it looks different to yours. Just go to settings/achievements thats where you put your login details and also where you can toggle things on and off like the achievement pictures. Also there are various different looks for Retroarch in settings/user interface/Appearance so i would look there to change the background colour and the icons and such.
  9. That is the correct core and is working just fine for me, i would check your login details, and also that the specific game actually has achievements for it.
  10. Well that is what the emumovies videos are, generally about 30 seconds of gameplay with the title screen shown at the end of the video. Unfortunately if you want something different than that you will have to make your own or just rip the game trailers from youtube, of course you wont find trailers for 99% of the games you emulate though.
  11. Just wondering if that stores the images in a different location as everything is included right? Or if the naming is different somehow and Launchbox isnt seeing the images.
  12. Also you using exodos? could that be the issue?
  13. HA HA, sorry i have no DOS in my setup, so i cant check that, got any USA snes or nes games or something, you know something a little more mainstream.
  14. While we are on the subject of image caching, should next re cache my images everytime i update it Jason, because it does currently.
  15. That would somewhat make sense as next uses a different cache folder than OG/Bigbox.
  16. can you show me a screen shot of a particular game so that i can compare with how mine is?
  17. Well to go back to what Jason posted there, have you checked your game details settings? There are lots of options to check/uncheck there.
  18. No it only started happening after i updated last night for me, i assumed its related somehow to the change in the options layout with the new Legacy/Boxes layout, but you will no better than i.
  19. Yeah they are all pretty much 1080p these days, they should say in the description if they are not.
  20. The bezels are available as a full pack on the emumovies ftp or are split into packs here in the download section of the forums. They are not something that is scrapable im afraid. If you just put them in the artwork folder in your mame emulator folder MAME will see them automatically. https://forums.launchbox-app.com/files/category/12-platform-bezelsoverlays/ Not sure what to tell you about the emumovies code im afraid, you could try emailing support@unbrokensoftware.com.
  21. MAME bezels simply go in your MAME/artwork directory. They must be zipped and specifically for mame, bezels made for other emulators will not work.
  22. The Launchbox database is updated every 24 hours, as it relies on user submitted images and information everything that is added and accepted by our database moderators is rolled up and updated every day. I am not sure on the emumovies side though, i think that is fairly static and they add images and such in bulk from time to time.
  23. A user posted a issue in another thread that i also experienced myself last night @Jason Carr. For me it happened when clicking options in the tools menu and happened to me twice. What happened is i clicked tools and then options, upon clicking options all the options in the tools menu greyed out and the program hung and enlarged to fill the screen and hide my taskbar, i had to ctrl-alt-delete. However like the other user end tasking didnt close the program, at least not initially. I waited about 30 seconds and it still didnt close so i end tasked again at which point i got the exact same image the user posted in the thread linked above, with that weird little box on top of the window before it finally closed. I then re-opened Launchbox and the exact same thing happened again. Third start seemed to be the charm and i was able to get into the options that time. Im not really sure what happened Launchbox didnt throw any errors at all even a windows "program has stopped responding" one, it was only when i got into task manager that i had any indication that the program was not responding. Edit: This just happened again, and it was by going to options again, this time i did get a program not responding error but still had to end task twice as it wasn't killed on first attempt, and i grabbed some shots this time.
  24. I had the exact same thing happen to me twice last night. Im going to report it in the beta thread though as this thread isnt for bugs.
  25. If the platform is already named Megadrive in launchchbox then you may have to rename some images to match it. Go to Launchbox/Themes/Unified/Images/Theme there are 4 folders in here for the different image types the theme uses, make sure they match exactly how you have megadrive named. For me i have it called "Sega Mega Drive" in Launchbox so had to rename those 4 image types to match that.
