Have you extracted the themes correctly? My guess would be that you have a folder with the theme name and another folder inside that with the them name also, if you open the theme folder it should have various files and folders inside it, if it has another folder with the theme name its wrong, just copy paste that folder up a level.

Is Launchbox updating my game info in the background?
neil9000 replied to ReaperZer0's topic in Troubleshooting
No the cache is permanent unless deleted or refreshed, or altered in some other way like changing what images you display in Launchbox from say boxes to clear logos will repopulate the cache with the clear logos. -
I cant help you with your first question, (although it is technically possible i believe but would require a major theme rewrite). For your second question go to tools/options/images/cart front priorities and uncheck everything except for discs. Alternatively you can go to options/theme in bigbox and check the box for different views per platform and use a view without spinning disc/box for the platforms you dont want it spinning on.

@Lordmonkus I just tried the audit here and its working just fine. There are references to the PCSX2 plugin in that error though which currently doesnt work with next anyway. Try moving the plugin out and testing again.

Is Launchbox updating my game info in the background?
neil9000 replied to ReaperZer0's topic in Troubleshooting
Looking at the second video there it looks like it could be a cache issue. During the whole video when you deleted and when you added the correct images you didn't once refresh the cache for that game, so its likely you simply have the older images you want to remove cached in the Launchbox/Images/Cache folder. What i would do is edit that game again and remove the images, then exit out of the edit screen and with the game still highlighted hit F5 on your keyboard to refresh the images for that game, it should now show you dont have any images at all. Add the ones you want and exit and refresh again and see if that fixes it for you. I believe that is what is happening that game has been previously cached with the images you do not want so they need to be removed/refreshed in the cache. -
Just go to tools/manage platforms then the folders tab, you can specify folders there for all image types and videos.

Is Launchbox updating my game info in the background?

Well to start Launchbox NEVER downloads any images or metadata without you knowing about it, it only does so when you initiate a metadata update or when you import new games it will also grab the latest metadata pack. Have you checked your region priorities in the options? Also if a game has been released in different regions with the same name the front facing name will be the USA one, so will attach the USA box art also. -
Or mouse scroll wheel.

Well some information would help us diagnose a bit better, system specs, OS version and most importantly do you have the naomi bios files?
-
Yeah there is a big difference between a USB HDD and a USB stick, a USB HDD is designed to do a lot of reads and writes and will also have a small cache which will help out a lot. A USB stick is more for straight up storage and transfers not constant reads and writes which is what would be happening with running Bigbox from it. I bet if you were to run a hard drive speed test on the USB stick the random read and write speeds would be incredibly slow, and that is what a program would be doing for the most part, lots of simultaneous reads and writes.
-
That could quite likely be the issue, Bigbox is having to read and load a lot of different data and images at the same time and the stick is quite likely not up to the task. USB sticks are a different beast to HDD's and are mostly designed to store data and to copy data to and from different devices, not to actually run programs from. While some lightweight programs would likely run from a USB stick just fine there is a lot going on in Bigbox with reads and writes and that would be my guess as to the issue you are experiencing,

OK ill keep a eye on it, i did definitely mess with the box size slider after this update so that would explain that one, but i always use the 3D box's so im not changing the image type at all, as i say ill keep a eye on it. Thanks Jason.

The metadata file is around 140mb currently, so may take a little while to download depending on your download speed.
-
If you do decide to do this remember that the next cache is named differently to the normal cache (that tutorial was written before next released). I just created a folder called Launchbox Cache on my desktop and added both folders to it like in this image.
-
You could also just move your cache to your ssd.

You must be using a old version of Retroarch as it is clearly there on the image i posted above, here it is again.
-
I am using a skin for Retroarch thats why it looks different to yours. Just go to settings/achievements thats where you put your login details and also where you can toggle things on and off like the achievement pictures. Also there are various different looks for Retroarch in settings/user interface/Appearance so i would look there to change the background colour and the icons and such.
-
That is the correct core and is working just fine for me, i would check your login details, and also that the specific game actually has achievements for it.
-
Well that is what the emumovies videos are, generally about 30 seconds of gameplay with the title screen shown at the end of the video. Unfortunately if you want something different than that you will have to make your own or just rip the game trailers from youtube, of course you wont find trailers for 99% of the games you emulate though.
-
Just wondering if that stores the images in a different location as everything is included right? Or if the naming is different somehow and Launchbox isnt seeing the images.
-
Also you using exodos? could that be the issue?
-
HA HA, sorry i have no DOS in my setup, so i cant check that, got any USA snes or nes games or something, you know something a little more mainstream.
-
While we are on the subject of image caching, should next re cache my images everytime i update it Jason, because it does currently.
-
That would somewhat make sense as next uses a different cache folder than OG/Bigbox.
-
can you show me a screen shot of a particular game so that i can compare with how mine is?
