  1. You are going to need a tool like ClrMamePro This isn't really a noob kind of thing. A simpler alternative is to find a non-merged mame set and just download the games you want. Each game will have only the files it needs, no clones, or variants. A Mame database site like here can help you find the specific rom names you want.
  2. Does your software library have the following directory structure: Software Directory -> cdi -> hotmario -> Hotel Mario (1994)(philips)(eu).chd Are both rom and software path set in your mame.ini? Here is mine as an example:
  3. Are you using the default autoconfig for your Xbox controller? My Xbox 360 controller works right. You may have to go into the control option of the Retroarch quick menu and remap your controls. I would stay with the defaults unless you need to specifically change for a game. They are well set for most games and should work well. It's very game specific and personal preference, I tend to start without a shader for DOS games as the ones I'm running look better. When I do use a shader I usually use CRT-hyllian and than google for alternatives for that specific games if I don't like the looks.
  4. Open Powershell Type cd and than a space Drag your MAME folder from an Explorer window into PowerShell Hot Enter key You should now be in the MAME directory. Type the following command
  5. That’s how I run most of my Teknoparrot games as well. I think the .txt goes back to pre LB adding startup screens and using that method to work with RocketLauncher. I have a game or two still using that method as RL’s window hiding until game start works better for a few games than LB’s basic timed hiding of startup screen.
  6. Trying run from the command prompt or powershell adding the -v option. That is verbose mode and should tell us exactly the issue. Mame64.exe -v cdimono1 hotmario
  7. Totally forgot about that, good call. I think it's been on the poll to add as a feature, fingers crossed next one.
  8. Why not compile your touchmote script and than add that as an application that runs before MAME when you edit the details of the game. Advantages of this is you don’t have to change default emulator settings and if you ever add something like LEDBlinky you won’t have issues with or issues with LB/BB seeing wrong application closures. Plus, I find it easier going back to a setup i did previously and seeing exactly how I set it up like this when parts/executable are separate tasks and you don’t have to worry about which script did what and launched which. Just my 2 cents, JoeViking245’s method is sound. ?
  9. I run BB in a cabinet that normally doesn’t have a keyboard attached. Initially it was because of the easier exit method that using a Libretro core provided. This core providing a virtual keyboard gives me the opportunity to add even more games. In the past I avoided many games to fit my limited cabinet keys. I’m finding the game pad mapping also works better than other DosBox versions I used in the past, with much less hassle.
  10. I was already using a Retroarch DosBox core for my Dos games and started testing this new core out. So far things are running well and only a few of my DOS games needed adjustment. Since this core currently doesn't support dosbox.conf files, I had to readjust a few games by putting them into a zip which than the core properly found the executables. Including any iso images in the zip and they auto mount is also nice. Another nice feature is if using the zip archive, all saves are into Retroarch save files leaving your install "clean". PS. Also playing with a alpha version of the PCSX2 core, quite impressive.
  11. Ya, I’m a big user of Ultimarc’s products but documentation on his web site isn’t always as easy to find as it could be. (It is there though) Seems like it, but the end is in sight for me. Just waiting for my Sinden light guns. The last thing I’m doing now is going through all my MAME games and attaching MAME outputs to my LedBlinky. Must say it’s pretty cool having flashing police lights and explosion LEDs for some games. ?
  12. You do not set associated platforms for RL, it should be blank. Not sure what you mean my arcade mode. Do you mean when using Big Box? Have you set a default emulator in RL for Mame (the platform)?
  13. You're still using the mame64.exe from MAMEDev and not the MAMEUI.exe? The proper MAME doesn't pop up error windows for messages like that.
  14. MAME needs to know the location of the ROM files, which is set in a file called mame.ini in the same directory as the mame64.exe Easiest method, start mame64.exe by double clicking. (no ROM) Go to Configure Options -> Configure Directories -> and than navigate to that Games/MAME folder. Exit back to the main MAME menu and select Save Configuration. MAME should know where your ROMs are now.
  15. To be honest I've jumped back and forth between using the software renderer and the hardware renderer several times. I can't decide which I prefer. I like upscaled video but not to the point of being too "shiny" and losing the look for that generation. Currently I have my defaults for PSX1 to use the software renderer with 2x upscaling and a CRT shader with that. A few games I thing I override to use the hardware renderer. Both are satisfactory and run well enough though. (Now if your talking PCSX2, it's a whole different ball game about trade-offs between HW and SW renderers ?)
  16. From a command prompt or Powershell, run: mame64.exe -cc to create the Mame.ini or start Mame, go down to save configuration and it will create it.
  17. The Beetle HW core has the option to use the software render as well, which is as close to the original and most compatible mode. You’ll have to play with those options in Retroarch to find settings that you prefer. There is no perfect settings. Although the software renderer will be closest to original, you also have to remember that displays are much larger today and depending on your size, software rendering may not be pleasing to you and you’ll want to play with the hardware renderer and “upscale/clean” it up at least some.
  18. Now you get the fun of adjusting the spin rate/sensitivity for each game to get the right feel to match the original cabinets. ? (If that’s important to you)
  19. That really depends on personal preference and what games you like and if they work well enough for you. More important to me is emulation improvements for games that already "work". For example, around version 0.180 they switched several games that used sound samples to preliminary Votrax chip emulation. Games like Q-Bert, Gorf sounded terrible in parts. I kept an older MAME version just for these games. A few recent updates have improved the Votrax emulation enough that I don't need the old MAME version anymore. For none arcade titles, lots of improvements in Apple II emulation that I use as well. So it's not yes or no and depends on your usage.
  20. The proper name is hotmario. What version of Mame are you using, a different one from the one from Mamedev.org? I only ask because I’ve never seen pop up GUI messages from standard Mame before.
  21. You can add any system to the platform list yourself, but this is such an obscure system, doesn’t make sense to add it to the default built in list. I don’t believe the Pippin itself is emulated, but is was basically just a PPC603 based Mac system. The Sheepshaver emulator you linked to will run versions of Mac OS fine and can be added to LB fine. The hardest part will be setting up in the Mac OS part to auto run specific programs, and closing cleanly without using proper Mac OS shutdown methods. (OS can easily get messed up by hard close methods) I have Mac OS 7.6, 8.5, and 9.22 launching with Sheepshaver from LB, but more or less for nostalgia reasons, and not to specific applications in Mac OS.
  22. Sinden Lightgun
  23. Glad you got found it. Wasn't 100% sure on the location since I changed mine.
  24. Should be a cores_backup folder in the directory Retroarch is set to download to. I believe it’s your standard Windows Downloads folder by default.
  25. Are you using HLSL, BGFX effects? (Looks like it) What happens if you run with them off?
