  1. Right clicking pastes in the command prompt, after high lighting you have to use the control - C keystroke to copy. Somehow you have a permission issue. There can be a lot of reason for this and I'm not sure now easy it would be to try to narrow it down using forum posts. Maybe someone more comfortable walking through the process in an easy way can chime in. For now, you can try this: Fixing permissions
  2. Type cmd in the WIndows 10 search bar and hit return and it should open a command prompt. Type cd + a space and then drag your mame folder into that window. hit return. Now type mame64.exe -v gamename and hit return. (change gamename to your game)
  3. I use a free tool called Dual Monitor Tools to keep my mice/lightgun to the main screen.
  4. I can't speak for using MAME32UI, but with standard MAME you can run from a command prompt in verbose mode to see error messages. Without anything to go, no way of knowing the issue.
  5. Sorry, forum rules prohibit that. Shouldn't be hard to find googling.
  6. Still a little confused, so I'll ask a few questions. 1) Is that picture a screen and a marquee screen, or just 1 vertical orientation screen? 2) If 1 screen, you are hoping to pull the marquee and place at top of screen, but also remove the other bezel elements? MAME doesn't allow variable passing in layout files, so you would have to have per game layout files, or use a small script to create the layout file before launching.
  7. MAME does not support marquees itself. LB/BB will look in LB -> Images -> Arcade -> Arcade - Marquee for game specific marquees to display. I'm not 100% sure what you're asking about the default layouts, but most games use a 3:4 ratio vertical screen, so if you set up a default layout in MAME -> artwork -> vertical, it should display that by default for all vertical games.
  8. ? I haven't read the entire thread, but yes assuming you are using the default set up of MAMEUI32
  9. Wherever all your other MAME roms are. You don't need to import it into LB.
  10. Sure looks like Dirt Devils that ran under Sega Naomi hardware. The first level is indeed a redish dirt track. It's playable using flycast core in Retroarch and/or Demul.
  11. You need the qsound_hle.zip file as well. It's a shared file between many games using Qsound.
  12. None of these steps affect actual key used, so I'm sure it's not LEDBlinky. I can't really test as I don't have fs-uae on my LB installation anymore, but my guess is that it is possible that somehow the fs-uae window has lost focus and isn't receiving the input. You could try adding a timeout and a window activate command in the AHK script to bring it to focus again. Hope that helps. Never ran into that problem but if I think of anything else, I'll post. I'm assuming controls are set up in FS-UAE correctly as you said it works from LB.
  13. If you can’t find one, you could also use an external bigger ball trackball. Although not the same, still works better than other options. Before I got a spinner I used the trackball for games like Arkanoid, Tempest, and it was Very usable once sensitivity adjusted in MAME. FYI, really easy to put a traditional spinner in any box. One hole for spinner, route plug to USB. You don’t have to make a cabinet or custom box.
  14. Looks like the Sinden guns are getting close to release, fingers cross. There are lots of good spinners from several companies and they all seem to perform well. I have one from Ultimarc , no issues.
  15. Glad it works for you. I moved to using RocketLauncher for a cleaner look, and have since the move to use RetroArch with the puae core. I use fs-uae for running workbench, but Retroarch core working great without any work with my Retroplay WHDLoad games.
  16. No performance difference. It’s just the simplicity that I can use an external drive, but still use the default LB locations. No need to change things like platform locations for things like scan for added roms to work
  17. One of the things I've done on my system is I have Launchbox on my C drive SSD, but all my game roms are on external HDs. The change is I also mount the external drives onto the Launchbox Games folder. I have the convenience of a stock setup and file paths, but using external HDs no matter where they are mounted. For Example: Drive E: is also mounted to LaunchBox/Games and F: SSD is mounted to Launchbox/Games/MAME. Works flawlessly.
  18. The game is laggy or the trackball movement is laggy? Unless you are using MAME2003plus in Retroarch, there shouldn't be dramatic difference in performance with MAME standalone vs Retroarch. If you are talking about the trackball being laggy, you'll need to adjust analog controls within MAME. Values can vary greatly between games depending on the hardware on the original cabinet. If you can list the trackball you have and the specific games, I might be able to provide you with some more detailed help.
  19. Agree. You can read here on how to deal with that: MAME Static IDs FYI, if you have any devices that aren't always connected, MAME removes configuration info if it is started and a device is no longer attached. Easiest solution is to set a static ID using link above, than after configuration, set the cfg file for that game to read-only so changes can't be made. Should work OK now whether device is attached or not.
  20. 1) Your rom files are all in RAR archives? I didn't think Retroarch supported RAR decompression. 2) Pick a game and right click and select EDIT. Does the filename and path listed there still match the actual location of the rom? If you edit that line and re-pick the rom, does it work now?
  21. No waste, it's all good. Glad you got it working. Having a mix of arcade controls, flight stick, spinner, trackball, Xbox controllers, light gun, steering wheel and wii remotes, I know first hand the issues of dealing with multiple devices and emulators that all handle them differently.
  22. We need more detailed explanations as it’s hard to follow otherwise. Those cfgs in Mame and LB should not matter. Good to delete. i need to know if you tried the steps I listed above with key commands only, to find out if the remapping is working correctly first, or whether the issue is you static mappings.
  23. The cfg files should always be in the MAME -> cfg folder. Not sure how you got one just in the MAME folder and the LB folder
  24. Let’s narrow down the issue. Forget your controller for now. Delete the default.cfg and any game specific cfg. Start a game and set custom keyboard commands. 1) Quit Mame. Was a Mame specific cfg for the game created? 2) Start the same game from LB. is the changed mapping still there? Are you 100% sure you are point to the same Mame executable in LB. Edit: Sounds from your added info that your static device ids are setup correct. Can you post you ctlr file and the output from running Mame with the -v option from a command line.
  25. Make sure you don’t have a game specific file in the MAME -> cfg directory as it will override the default config. Also, did you use the LB full MAME set importer? If so, make sure you are launching the exact same game from LB. it could be you are running a different variant of the same game. if you right click a game and pick edit, under the additional application a tab you can see all the variants.
