No, I don't mean platform videos - I mean the "theme" videos, for individual games.
-
When editing a platform, you can set the folder locations for all the media types. This includes "videos", but I don't see an option for theme videos. Are these kept in the same folder, or is there just no option to set the folder for this?

Just a warning - the new exoDOS download comes with instructions - it says to just run "setup.bat". I did this, but it reset all my Launchbox settings! I'm now having to go through and change LB back to how I had it before.
-
Great news! Presumably it's the same process as before - point the torrent at the existing exodos games folder as described above. But what is the procedure after that - we don't need to setup LB again do we?

I'm wondering if there is anyone here who would be kind enough to make a small change to a theme for me. I would do it myself though I would have to learn the code/software from scratch, which would take me a while. The change I'm looking for is only for the platform category/platform screens, and only for one view. I'm currently using the Criticalzone theme (version 1) with the view where the video (Viking's system videos) takes up the whole screen. It looks like this: I am looking for a basic information bar the bottom, showing manufacturer, year and total game count; something like this: Would be most grateful if anyone could make such a change

Yes V2 has some of that information, thanks! The wheels are disappearing like before though - would you be able to modify this one too?- 627 replies

Ok no worries, leave it with me. When you say v2, do you mean another version of the theme to download?- 627 replies

I love the ability in BigBox to select the manual or game art from the menu. However, it would be useful to be able to do this in-game, rather than having to exit and re-start the game to do so. Is this currently possible? If not then can it be? In Hyperspin, Hyperpause does just that. Thanks!

theme CriticalZone / CriticalZone - BlueBox

That's great! I wonder if I could be so bold as to ask something else of you? I really like the full screen video view for categories and platforms. But I would really like to have some category/platform information too. I know that you can change the view in your theme to have the video a bit smaller with information at the bottom of the screen, but this doesn't look nearly as good in my humble opinion. I wonder if it would be possible for you to add some information to the full screen video view, with the information overlaying the video? Obviously not overlaying the picture of the console or the game video itself, but at the blank space at the top or bottom of the screen? What would be great would be to have the following text information displayed in the above manner: Details: Year, Total Games, Manufacturer, CPU, Display, Media Description: (the standard category/platform description) Would this be possible?- 627 replies

I can't add a platform that has no games, and I can't change the platform of existing games to NES Hacked because I can't create it!! This is some kind of catch22!

theme CriticalZone / CriticalZone - BlueBox

Quick question here about the Criticalzone theme that comes with LB. I have it set to the full screen platform videos view. The problem I am having is that in this view, the selection wheel disappears 1-2 seconds after moving it each time. Is there a way to have the selection wheel remain? Thanks- 627 replies

Thanks Viking, that makes sense. Currently I’m using one of the themes that came with LB - I think it’s called Criticalzone? Is it possible to edit this to stop the wheel disappearing?
-
Truly great work for the cause Viking! Many thanks. I just downloaded a couple of the platform videos in 16:9. My favourite view is the one where the platform video fills the whole screen. A problem I have with that view just now is that the wheel/menu disappears after about a second using that theme. It reappears if I press up or down to scroll, but I would prefer it to stay as I think it looks a bit odd with the wheel missing. Is the wheel supposed to disappear, and if so how can I make it stay? Many thanks! PS is there a list somewhere of all the platforms/categories/playlists supported in this pack?

What about the cabinet images that come with the MAME extras pack?
-
Ah! Wouldn't it be better if it did show in the sidebar, just with no associated games? Then the user could add games to that platform as they wish. What I am actually trying to do, is to move the "hacked" versions of NES games out of my NES platform and into a separate platform which I would names something like NES - hacked. I would obviously want this new platform to be listed in the console category along with NES. What would be the best way to go about doing this?
-
Thanks very much Pacman! But isn't there an easier way to import MAME into LB? The above all sounds very complicated!
-
Sorry for the high noobness level of this query, but something is odd here. In LB, I go to add platform in the side bar. I pick an example one - give it a title, a sort title and a category, and tell it to scrape as NES. I click OK, but the platform does not appear in the platform menu! Am I missing something?
-
Must have done something wrong the first time. Followed the instructions above and theme videos seem to be downloaded fine. Items without box art are showing the game screen instead (though still think that a default image of a floppy with the game name written in it would be better). I pointed the LB video folder at my old HS video folder so I didn’t have to DL a lot of the videos again. Oh, and thanks exo, like Meagre, this is looking amazing.
-
Thanks, will try that. Loved the quick glance into the chasm of infinity at the end.
-
I tried doing this, downloading only the gameplay videos and the theme videos, though it seems to have affected a lot of my games - I now have duplicates, and some games which should have artwork are missing it! Deleted all of LB and am downloading the torrent again to start afresh.
-
How to I remove the art behind the games in LB? I have selected the default background, but whenever I select a game, the screenshot for that game appears in the background. I've searched the background options and can't find this anywhere.
-
Why would it affect the existing artwork media if I am only scraping for the game video?
-
Took over 5 minutes. I haven't re-run the setup.bat again. I'm wondering if these particular games just don't have covers. Do they have covers on yours? Also - does the exoDOS collection have sound or video samples? Don't seem to see any in LB.
