Solved - at least for me - you have to tick the box that says search for game information from the Launchbox database.

I'm having the same issue. Currently working on Nintendo Entertainment System. I sucessfully downloaded all the game descriptions and some other artwork. Now i am trying to download the front boxes. I previously had front boxes in the folder, though these were small and from emumovies. The Launchbox ones seem to be bigger. So I deleted all of the contents of the front box folder from the NES media folder. I then selected all NES games and told LB to scrape the front box images from the Launchbox (not emumovies) server. LB shoots through all the games in a few seconds, says it has successfully updated the metadata for 700 items, though it didn't download the covers!! If I edit each game manually then I can download them that way - though this method is of courese untenable! Edit: could it be because I deleted the images through file explorer rather than in LB - so LB think that the images are still there, maybe? Maybe some sort of datafile/cache issue?

How can I change the order in which the images are shown in LB? When I go to edit a game, you can flick through the images in the tiny box and change the image "type", but I see no way to change the order of these images. When I am looking at a game's images, it is very unintuitive to have the back of the box appear first, then the flyer, then perhaps the front of the box, etc. Thanks!

Thanks - I tried that software and it looks OK. I cannot figure out how to get the picture just on the front of the case, and not the spine. Is this possible?

I too would like to know how to change a 2D box into a 3D box.

Love the built-in PDF reader, but how do you access the controls for it (including the zoom level)? All I can seem to do is scroll up and down. Thanks!

theme CriticalZone / CriticalZone - BlueBox
Retrofrogg commented on CriticalCid's file in Custom Themes
Great theme and my default at the moment. Nice and clean. One issue - I have the games list view set as "horizontal boxes with details". I also have the game image type set as "3D boxes". However, many of the games are being shown as the flyer rather than the 3D box. If I switch from BB to LB, then it shows the 3D boxes fine. Any help appreciated!- 48 comments

Sorry if this has been covered before - but how do I add the new exoDOS packs (versions 3.1) to an existing Launchbox install (i.e. without running the setup file which installs a new instance of LB)?
-
I think that just adventure and RPG new packs (3.1) are on PD so far.

When I resize the game details pane, then close LB, then open LB again, it doesn't remember the resize - it has the pane back to its (slimmer) original setting. Is this expected behaviour?

Get MAME game info from history.dat and mameinfo.dat
Retrofrogg replied to Retrofrogg's topic in Noobs
Yes you're right, the Lightspeed tool is no longer recommended. It would be nice however to have LB use the history.dat and similar files, just like MAMEUI does! -
The history.dat and mameinfo.dat files in MAME provide loads of useful information regarding the machines - much more than just a game review. I can't see any way to use these in LB - am I missing something?

Set more than one media folder for an item

Set a symlink in Windows? But wouldn't the link just point to the other folder, rather than incorporating both folders? -
Set more than one media folder for an item
Retrofrogg replied to Retrofrogg's topic in Troubleshooting
Thanks Neil - that's the workaround which I am using right now, though with limited HD space it's not a very elegant solution! -
My MAME media for the Neo Geo systems is in separate folders to that of the main MAME folder media (in other frontends I have the Neo Geo MVS as a separate system instead of under Arcade). How can I get Launchbox to check those other folders as well as the MAME media folders? As far as I can tell, I can only set one folder for media item. Mainly, I want to add a second folder for manuals.

MAME ROM import can't set preferred region with clones
Retrofrogg replied to Retrofrogg's topic in Troubleshooting
So an observation - I moved all my video media (around 170GB) from my network drive to my local drive, and now LB and BB run fine with no delay. So the problem was definitely the network access. The funny thing was, when the video folder in LB was pointing towards the network drive, browsing in LB would be slow even if the videos were disabled from the game details pane. So does LB read the video folder even if it is not selected in the game details options? And with the source of the issue identified - is there any way to fix it? My laptop HD is full and I'd really like to move the videos back! -
This is really confusing me. I decided to look into the game videos for my DOS games. It used to work a few weeks ago. Tonight, even with videos turned on for the game details panel in LB, no videos play. I then checked the videos folder in the platform (MSDOS) settings, and it is pointing to an empty folder (D:\game videos\microsoft MS-DOS). So that makes sense. HOWEVER, when I switch to Big Box mode, the game videos play! How is this possible!!?

I want to import all my MAME Roms (excluding casino, fruitmachines etfc) including clones (as some clones are good variations). I want the preferred ROM to be "world" however. On the import list, I can only see how to do one or the other. How can I get it to import all clones AND set the preferred region to world? Thanks!

You can get them at sites other than mega.nz. And yes they are variable quality - some very good, some low resolution. Though as far as I know it is the most complete set.

How to set folders for all arcade systems?
Retrofrogg replied to Retrofrogg's topic in Troubleshooting
Thanks neil. Your screenshot is for the "arcade" playlists, but I meant for all the other playlists too. I think however, that if you alter the main arcade playlists folders then the other playlists change too. Just hadn't realised that before! PS - where did you get those cool 3D boxes for the arcade flyers? -
I imported a MAME set and chose to split it into the different arcade board playlists. Now I need to set the folders (screenshot, manual, controls, marquee, cabinet, flyer, etc) for these roms. I can do it for each individual playlist - but surely there is a way to do it for everything under the "arcade" platform? If I edit the parent "arcade" platform then the option to set folders isn't there!!

Launchbox Ultimate Complete Edition
Retrofrogg replied to Colpipes78's topic in Collections and Builds
Lol I love the epic and unnecessarily long LB introduction video! Good stuff Impressive numbers of systems. I too am a completionist so I can see where you are coming from. It would be nice if there was some consistency in the system videos - some are Vikings and some are others (e.g. Cinematix). I know that this is a generally a limitation due to availability. It would also be nice for the theme to display the number of games per platform. I hope that you can keep going and ever increase the number of systems! Sometimes I look at MAME and all the systems that it supports (e.g. in MAMEUI there are hundreds of different computer systems and an equal number of kit systems supported) and wonder how many we can get into LB!
