  1. My MAME media for the Neo Geo systems is in separate folders to that of the main MAME folder media (in other frontends I have the Neo Geo MVS as a separate system instead of under Arcade). How can I get Launchbox to check those other folders as well as the MAME media folders? As far as I can tell, I can only set one folder for media item. Mainly, I want to add a second folder for manuals.
  2. So an observation - I moved all my video media (around 170GB) from my network drive to my local drive, and now LB and BB run fine with no delay. So the problem was definitely the network access. The funny thing was, when the video folder in LB was pointing towards the network drive, browsing in LB would be slow even if the videos were disabled from the game details pane. So does LB read the video folder even if it is not selected in the game details options? And with the source of the issue identified - is there any way to fix it? My laptop HD is full and I'd really like to move the videos back!
  3. This is really confusing me. I decided to look into the game videos for my DOS games. It used to work a few weeks ago. Tonight, even with videos turned on for the game details panel in LB, no videos play. I then checked the videos folder in the platform (MSDOS) settings, and it is pointing to an empty folder (D:\game videos\microsoft MS-DOS). So that makes sense. HOWEVER, when I switch to Big Box mode, the game videos play! How is this possible!!?
  4. I want to import all my MAME Roms (excluding casino, fruitmachines etfc) including clones (as some clones are good variations). I want the preferred ROM to be "world" however. On the import list, I can only see how to do one or the other. How can I get it to import all clones AND set the preferred region to world? Thanks!
  5. You can get them at sites other than mega.nz. And yes they are variable quality - some very good, some low resolution. Though as far as I know it is the most complete set.
  6. Thanks neil. Your screenshot is for the "arcade" playlists, but I meant for all the other playlists too. I think however, that if you alter the main arcade playlists folders then the other playlists change too. Just hadn't realised that before! PS - where did you get those cool 3D boxes for the arcade flyers?
  7. I imported a MAME set and chose to split it into the different arcade board playlists. Now I need to set the folders (screenshot, manual, controls, marquee, cabinet, flyer, etc) for these roms. I can do it for each individual playlist - but surely there is a way to do it for everything under the "arcade" platform? If I edit the parent "arcade" platform then the option to set folders isn't there!!
  8. Is there really no way to import all clones and still prioritise a region with this software? What is the point in importing all clones if you can't set a default region?
  9. Lol I love the epic and unnecessarily long LB introduction video! Good stuff Impressive numbers of systems. I too am a completionist so I can see where you are coming from. It would be nice if there was some consistency in the system videos - some are Vikings and some are others (e.g. Cinematix). I know that this is a generally a limitation due to availability. It would also be nice for the theme to display the number of games per platform. I hope that you can keep going and ever increase the number of systems! Sometimes I look at MAME and all the systems that it supports (e.g. in MAMEUI there are hundreds of different computer systems and an equal number of kit systems supported) and wonder how many we can get into LB!
  10. Just thought I would provide an update here. It seems that the most recent update of LB (or perhaps just the act of updating the install) has fixed the issue. I imported my MAME ROM set (on this occasion just under 4000 roms) and I am no longer having the issues described above. Yes, it still takes some time to cache the images though that is within expected limits. The issue I am now having is that the game videos are loading somewhat slowly - when browsing though games in LB or BB the details and screenshots update almost instantaneously, though there is a 5-6 second delay before the video appears. If I have scrolled through a number of games then sometimes some of the intervening videos briefly appear and disappear before the right one appears. The videos are on a network folder whilst the rest of the media is on a local drive - though before you blame this, I have the same setup for Hyperspin which reads the videos off the network folder, and there is no delay with the videos in Hyperspin! I have asked about this on a separate thread so will hopefully be able to resolve this soon!
  11. Yes, well I don't know if many other have experienced this. I wonder if making some sort of "mklink" so that LB treats the videos folder as a local folder might help? Open to any thoughts from those who have experience in this area!
  12. I would keep all my media local if I had enough HD space The issue is, the videos load instantaneously when browsing in Hyperspin - so it's not necessarily a network issue and possibly a LB issue.
  13. When browsing my MAME (Arcade) roms in bigbox (and LB, but that is less of an issue), the games change quite quickly when you scroll through them, though there is a 5-6 second delay each time before the game video will play. I have my game videos stored on a network drive, which may be something to do with it. However, in Hyperspin I have the same setup and there is no such delay. Any help would be much appreciated!
  14. When I imported the latest MAME set, I selected the option to separate into arcade subfolders (CPS-1, CPS-2, etc). However, once import has completed it has only separated them into 2 folders - "arcade", which has 3588 games and "Sega ST-V" which has 39. I tried the option in tools to create missing MAME/arcade playlists, but after 7 or 8 seconds it says "no missing playlists were found to add"! No idea why this is not working, and any help appreciated! EDIT: fixed this; somehow the playlists didn't appear initially. After a restart they appeared, and I moved them to the arcade plaform.
  15. I'm having to start a new LB install to add in the arcade stuff, as lightspeed importer seemed to mess up my previous install. Can i add the exoDOS 3.1 pack without running the setup file (which installs it into a new instance of LB)? If so, how is it done? Thanks!
  16. Found it thanks. For some reason it had stopped appearing on the main torrents page.
  17. I don't see the exodos torrents on PD any more - have they gone?
  18. Yes, it would be nice to know what that was! Would save a lot of work. However if moving and re-importing it all is the only way, then I will look at that. What makes it more complicated is that I ran the exoDOS package, which installs LB and then adds all the exoDOS games and metadata. So I would have to figure out how to add that manually.
  19. No, I followed LornMonkus's instructions and imported via LB the second time (and when I did the fresh install).
  20. OK, that is certainly an option. But is there no way to "fix" my existing LB? It does seem that the problem began after I ran the Lightspeed Importer. Theoretically, if I could undo whatever it did then shouldn't my LB be back to normal and functioning as the new install does? Lordmonkus advised to remove all the arcade games from the arcade platforms, delete the arcade platforms from the data\platforms folder and the backups folder. I did that and tried to re-import but the problem remains. I wonder if there is something else I have to "undo"?
  21. Would that work? What about all the settings, wouldn't I have to change those too?
  22. I could add the other platforms to the new version, and I'm guessing that will be OK (as the arcade set is OK on the new version) - but I would rather avoid that if possible as I had spent some time settings up these platforms on the old version!
  23. Yes...well....if I remove it, then the arcade folders aren't there to be slow! The other systems run fine. If I have the arcade folders there, they run (browse) v v slow but the other systems run fine.
  24. Thanks DOS76 - I copied the new arcade.xml and over-wrote the old one in the original directory. I startup up the original LB, and ....... same problem! The arcade menus appear, but the problem is the same as above!
